  1. Balance. The current balance of effect consumables is that you can either drink the consumables early (and risk using them up on an extremely easy fight), or else you have to sacrifice a turn in battle in order to buff yourself. Being able to combine effect consumables would be akin to giving all Heroes a new skill far better than an Alchemist's Instant Items, and that would not be a good thing.
  2. Round 5 of Clamor in the Corn (Battle 3, Play Fair) >Lind Whisperer (Ethereal Deck) vs. Scarecrow (back) - Damage (Lind: 15/2=7-4=3 Darkness-elemental damage) >Grimwald Gjinko drinks Potion (+10 health) >Darksten vs. Scary Crow A B (back) - Aim (Scary Crow B: 6 damage) Free Hits: Feral Hen A vs. Lind: 8/2=4-4=0 damage The fight reaches a plateau; Lind takes a little damage, but so does the Scary Crow. Grimwald foregoes his healing abilities in favor of alchemical healing, while the Feral Hen fruitlessly attempts to damage Lind. Three enemies remain against three Heroes, all of whom are somewhat injured. THE BATTLE CONTINUES! The Enemies: Feral Hen A Type: Flying? 3. "All right, everyone on the Cloud Gigas!" The cannon fires on the Cloud Gigas Arthur pokes his Spider Leg Spear at the Cloud Gigas from the Back Row. Battle Order: Cannon Skrall Arthur Atramor OOC: Autorolling is fine, with the following caveats: Skrall should not attack if the Cloud Gigas has less than 950 health, or if Skrall has less than 29 health. In the latter case, Arthur will give up his turn to use a Grand Potion on Skrall. Arthur should not attack if he has less than 5 health. Atramor should not attack if he has less than 11 health. All attacks and auto-rolling should stop once the Cloud Gigas is below 600 health.
  4. Suddenly realizing the glaring flaw in his plan, Arthur revises the Battle Order: Revised Battle Order: Arthur Skrall Cannon Atramor
  5. QM Note: I'm terribly sorry. Today's been a terrible day. Family sucks. I'll move you on to the Inn tomorrow, if possible. Again, I'm terribly sorry for the lack of updates this week.
  6. "My thoughts exactly." The Cannon continues to fire at the second Thunderbird, while Arthur uses another Grand Potion on Skrall. Battle Order Skrall Arthur Cannon Atramor
  7. "Perfect! Atramor, I think it's time to try out the Doctor's gift, don't you? Doctor, if you could aim the cannon toward the second thunderbird, we'd be much obliged." Arthur uses a Grand Potion on Skrall from the Back Row. Battle Order: Arthur Atramor Cannon Skrall
  8. It's Miirym who ultimately notes the better strategy. <Wait! There is a better way!> After the Dragon explains what she had seen to Arthur, he ultimately nods. "All right. New plan: Skrall, you'll take a bit of a hit, but it's much less of one. Doctor, keep that cannon on the Sylph. Atramor, could you use a Grand Potion on me?" Arthur switches out his Unicorn Helmet in exchange for his Helmet of the Duplovian Guard from the Back Row. Revised Battle Order: Skrall Arthur Atramor Cannon (Free Hits:) Sylph vs. Skrall: 3 damage Thunderbird B vs. Arthur: 7 damage Cloud Gigas vs. Atramor: 10 damage
  9. OOC: Atramor should be down some health from the thunder bird free hit. Also, his Blindness only lasts one Round. Arthur winces as the Cloud Gigas tosses him around the ship, Miirym taking flight in alarm. "Leave him alone for now, I'll handle his Free Hit--" It's then that Arthur notices the copious plasm leaking from his form. "Damn it. Skrall, you'll have to take a hit, but you should mostly be able to handle it from the Back once I heal you. When I go down, get me up next Round. Doctor, fire your cannon at the last Sylph please so Atramor can use his Decamodifier on it." Arthur uses a Grand Potion on Skrall from the Back Row. Battle Order Arthur uses Grand Potion on Skrall Skrall Cannon vs Sylph Atramor
  10. Umm...whatever happened to Boomingham's Marksman's Monocle? I thought I returned it at the end of 77, but it looks like it just vanished into thin air at that point.
  11. Rather rare, actually, but there's been quite a bit of demand recently, which is one of the reasons I offered it for 118. Having said that, Necromancer and Chi Monk are generally more suited for Mage starters, just because Mages tend to end up with more loose gems and scrolls at 30 (and will also generally have Artifacts more geared towards Ether-users). ...aaand once again we see why SP is far more important than max HP. Also, as I just mentioned in the Fields topic, some stuff has come up at home that may prevent me from updating my Quests tomorrow. I'll try and do it anyway if I can, but no guarantees.
  12. FM Note: Since there's a possibility I won't be able to run a Round tomorrow, I'm just going to go ahead and run one now (I'll also try to get one in tomorrow at noon if I can, hopefully allowing you to finish the fight before the holiday ). Round 4 of Clamor in the Corn (Battle 3, Play Fair) >Lind Whisperer (Ethereal Deck) vs. Scarecrow (back) - Special Damage (Murder of Crows - Scary Crow A killed, Scarecrow restored to full health) >Grimwald Gjinko (Light, Shadeaux Mace) vs. Scarecrow (back) - Meditate (Grimwald: +2 Ether) >Darksten vs. Scary Crow A B (back) - Damage (Darksten: 6/3=3-2=1 damage) Free Hits: Feral Hen A vs. Lind: 8/2=4-4=0 damage The battle continues to go poorly, with the Scarecrow devouring one of its own allies to restore its own health and the remaining Heroes completely failing to harm their opponents. Grimwald meditates on his life choices as he hovers on the brink of unconsciousness, while Darksten is reduced to half health. Three enemies remain against three Heroes, two of whom are severely injured. THE BATTLE CONTINUES! The Enemies: Feral Hen A Type: Flying? 13. FM Note: I have no idea what you're talking about.
  14. "Doctor, if you could aim the cannon to finish off Sylph B, we'd be much obliged. Care to switch targets with me, Atramor?" Reaching his hand behind his back and under his cloak, Arthur extends his essence into the shape of a black halberd, and, careful to maintain the illusion of its separation from himself, he swings Zoot's Rebel at Thunderbird B from the Front Row. Battle Order Arthur Atramor Skrall Cannon
  15. The books were dry and dull, a comprehensive list compiling the complete commercial exchanges between the town and the Guild of Invision. Though they revealed that Tonics used to be less expensive in the past and Phoenix Essences more so, there was no information relevant to the current situation contained within their pages. The hand was masculine in appearance, though soft and uncalloused--clearly it had belonged to a man not involved with strenuous physical labour. The druid found a Remedy tucked away in a back corner, before leading herself and the Dragoon into the Mayor's Office with the others.

  17. Originally Arthur was meant to go Mage -> Sorcerer -> Chi Monk -> Prophet, each time delving more and more into the spiritual aspects of Chaos and having prophetic dreams, that sort of thing. While I've kept some elements of him that were meant to lead to that, I've ended up downplaying a lot of them as I've steered away from my original plans.
  18. I still think the hands should have been invulnerable but also Blind and Sealed until their respective weapon/shield was destroyed. But that's just how I would have built it.
  19. Mimes can use anything suitable to one of the base classes (so something suitable to a Mage is okay, whereas something specifically suitable to a Mystic Knight would not be). As I understand it, yes they can use things suitable to one class while mimicking another; Mime Docken, for example, should be able to use a bow and shield even when he's mimicking a Rogue.
  20. FM Note: Good catch, fixed.
  21. Miirym shrieks and dives beneath Arthur's cloak at the sight of the foes, but she soon crawls up the back and jumps over to his shield. <What are we going to do?> "We're going to do what we do best--protect." "Atramor, could you use those tiger claws to dual-strike Sylphs A and B with your Free Hit? That way, the cannon should be able to take out A this Round and B the next. If we get rid of even one, neither Skrall nor the cannon will need to take a Free Hit, while both of us can easily tank a Free Hit from the sylphs." Raising his Spider Leg skyward, he jabs it viciously at the Cloud Gigas from the Back Row. Battle Order Atramor Free Hit Atramor Arthur Skrall Cannon
  22. QM Note: Today's sets courtesy of Scubacarrot; thanks, Scuba! Sylvania's student suggested a split, so some searched the Office while some searched the assembly hall. [color#4B0082]Entering the Mayor's Office, the Monk and Warden saw a gruesome sight: a ransacked room, with blood, gravel, and dismembered limbs strewn about. A note laid upon the desk, next to the severed head of another golem, a human hand lying upon the floor below. Like the note they'd found in the General Store, this note, too, appeared to be from a logbook of some kind, this one bearing the name Clark Clarke.[/color] Clerk's note: There the entry ended. The town Meeting Hall bore all the signs of a hastily-abandoned meeting; the heavy benches shoved askew, cabinet doors left open, a scrap of flowery paper discarded haphazardly. This note appeared to be a letter, written in a young woman's flowing script: Clara Butcher's Note
  23. Arthur gives Atramor a strange look as he tells his story. "A squad of them? Yikes. Having even one on our side would be rather helpful, I can't imagine how powerful they would be in groups." "I have to concur, automatons are wonderful tools of progress, but incredibly dangerous in the wrong hands. Have you heard of the late (and thoroughly unlamented) Lord Blackenord, Doctor Gioconda? Besides, recovering a stolen automaton was my first introduction to this House, it would be a pleasure to pick up where I left off." "If it would not be rude of me to ask, why do you say that the situation in Xu is about to change? Have there been new political developments in the region as of late?"
