So, you're saying tarn is easy? ...I blame Pandora and Mafia for that remark.

I envy you so much right now. (Which one, by the way? Any tips on how to get hired?) Say, did you have to spend $50 to get Kendo Jay in-store or $75? If it's $50 I have to take the effort to make a trip to Downtown Disney, if it's $75 I'll just order from S@H and save myself a trip. scratch that, I have to feel the CMF packages...blast, why couldn't they have come out a month later, so they wouldn't conflict with my Friends/Ninjago plans?!? ...that came out wrong...

Heroica RPG - Quest #17: The Lion's Share
Flipz replied to Brickdoctor's topic in The Heroica Archive
Arthur heads for the catapult, but at the last minute steps back. "This thing doesn't look cool enough, it needs some decoration." He pulls out his opal and adds a layer of ice spikes to the launch arm (0 Ether, no effect on catapult). "OK, now it's ready. " -
Which, coincidentally, ties back into the Friends debate...no matter what the ultimate "verdict" is among the outside world, the controversy itself has raised brand awareness among girls and parents of girls. So, the next time they go into a store and happen to see Lego, that brand awareness might prompt them to stop and take a look instead of just passing by and ignoring it.

No, they're all going to join Wren and to do so they have to murder Dyric.

LEGO® CUUSOO 空想 - Turn your model wishes into reality
Flipz replied to CopMike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I'm quite pleased with this. It seems like Cuusoo will be cleaning up its act, and if it keeps up the good work, I may consider posting a few things on it. -
My earlier post got buried, didn't it. Lego Universe already established that Garmadon will return to command the Skullkin army, and that he will NOT turn to good. The LU models for Ninjago stuff look really cool, so I don't see why, with some modification, they couldn't be used to make that wave of sets.

http://www.darthsanddroids.net/episodes/0162.html ^^^Basically describes Quest 17 right now. I'll add that it's entirely the fault of the players, too.

Heroica RPG - Quest #17: The Lion's Share

"Hey, my good buddy back home taught me that. Name was Pete. He says a friend of his gave a speech just like that one to an army of...what were they called? Gun-guns? Anyway, he says Sally's speech REALLY encouraged the troops. 'Course, then again, they were betrayed by one of their own generals, and the destruction of their moon ruined their plan, and one of the Heroes died in the battle...wait, can the soldiers still hear us???" OOC: I give you this. -

A moment after William finishes his speech, Arthur shoves him out of the way. "Listen up, Lion Knights! We be outnumbered and outgunned. This fight shall be tough. Now, I'm thinkin' many of y'all might be bein' afraid. I've been afraid before. I was scared of heights. But I had lots of adventures and learned heights aren't so scary. Elves aren't scary either! Look at Althior's girlfriend Alexis...well, y'all can't see her now, but she's freindly and clever, and Althior apparently thinks she's hot. And we have a secret weapon! We're brave! Don't worry if you fail. Y'all get to roll again. And makes sure y'all take the +2 flanking manoeuvre whenever y'all have initiative! If an elf attacks ya, take an immediate feint and counter-strike action, because that gives ya +1 to hit without sacrificing y'all's next turn's defence bonus." -
You know my personal theory as to how these were chosen? 99% of the votes went to the Elf, and the rest were so evenly divided among the rest that Lego decided to choose the ones they needed to get rid of. Again, I'm actually mostly happy with this selection, but I DO agree, it's NOT the best LEGO could have made.

Arthur's eyes widen. "Doh! I knew we should have filled those stones with honey and lit them on fire! I don't think we have time, but if Althior agrees (and only if he agrees), I'd be willing to take one or two stones down to the kitchens to fill them with honey and bring them back up." OOC: If it's clearly not going to be possible, then I won't try, but if it'll only delay me by a round or two, then I'll go ahead and do it. -
Well, I found it rather hard to get Elves, so that's always a plus. The gold scorpion is kinda nice, and I wouldn't mind more gorilla suit guys metasimians for the Heroica RPG. (Wait, I crossed out the wrong one, didn't I? ) And of course, the space villain was one of the harder-to-find minifigs. Actually Elves were REALLY rare for me, I might have to pick up two or three or five of these for army building.

Heroica RPG - Quest #17: The Lion's Share

"Lets not forget we Heroes are available as well. I can't see the catapult requiring more than two of us, and only two of us are fully ranged (you and William, us mages are only ranged if we have Ether to spare). That still leaves four of us, and combined with the soldiers we have, it should be more than enough to handle the upper wall. I say we keep the pikemen by the portcullis, either at the top or the bottom, have one Knight and one Scout along the top of the wall with horses, and spread out the rest along the top according to your plan, transferring the bottom forces to the top. (Remember, the only lower area we might want forces in would be by the portcullis.) Fill in the gaps with your friends (us Heroes) and we'll be good to go. "Also, on your map, I'd suggest using small symbols for each class type: a shield (or inverted triangle) for Knights, a star for archers, a square for pikemen, and a circle for scouts. Heroes can be marked with a star with our name by it. It'd be much simpler, and you'd have more room on the map, plus for a group of (for example) scouts you could just draw a single circle and then put a number by them, i.e. 'O x 3', etc. Arthur pulls his book from his pack and opens it. "Here, draw your map here, since it's enchanted I have plenty of room and I can just copy and paste a fresh copy of the map onto a new page if we need to make changes. We should probably mark out where we have defenses set up as well." Looking up and noting Althior's disapproving stare, he quickly adds, "Also, we should probably ask our Trusted Party Leader's opinion before we go making his decisions for him." -
Let's not forget that Greg Farshtey, the genius behind the Bionicle world, is in charge of the storyline for Ninjago, so... I have a feeling that some of the ideas from the Bionicle "ideas file" that couldn't make it into that theme have (and will continue to) made their way into Ninjago. (They sure as heck didn't make it into Hero Factory...) Let's not forget that LEGO Universe has (soon to be had) established a Ninjago storyline as well. At some point in the distant future, Garmadon returns and brings back the skeleton army, stronger than ever. He destroys the latest Ninjago monastery, sending a Ninja of Imagination named Neido hurtling into the Crux System, where he finds the Skeletons are mining Maelstrom to forge Maelstrom-infused weapons and armor that are highly resistant to Spinjitsu. Meanwhile, the other Ninja rebuild the Monastery bigger and better, just in time for Garmadon's forces to beseige both it and the Fire Temple. Neido, Sensei Wu, Nya, and the four ninja then train an army of new ninjas (the members of the Nexus Force, aka the players) in the way of Spinjitsu to fight the skeletons and save Ninjago. I have no idea of the canonicity of that (especially since LU will vanish forever at the end of the month), but if it remains canon then Garmadon has to survive, even if he just ends up banished again. Ninja vs. cyborgified Exo-Force??? I actually think that Ninjago would do well as a vehicle for other themes. I.E. someone from (for example) the Wild West needs help to defeat the bad guys, so they call the ninja to their aid. It'd be kind of weird, especially the collision between themes, but I think it would turn out awesome. Plus, it would be a way to keep cycling through the action themes without ending Ninjago (not to mention the extra time and effort it would save in having to come up with backstory for these themes! ).

What would you offer for Witch's Magic Manor, Treasure Transport, and one or both of the Samurai Swordsmen? EDIT: And Ruler of the Jungle? Quotes for different combinations of the above would be appreciated.

Heroica RPG - Quest #17: The Lion's Share
Flipz replied to Brickdoctor's topic in The Heroica Archive
"I feel that, aside from the crossbowmen, no one needs to be on the second floor at all--after all, if there are any openings large enough for the Elves to get in, one of the party wizards should use it as a spot from which to cast spells, the way Alexandre and William will use the arrow loops. In addition, the pikemen should be placed all together so their strength is increased--I'd say they should wait near the gate. The Knights and Scouts should be spread across the top of the wall, with one or two in the middle on the two horses--likely the scouts, so they can move where needed. Since Isabella, Spag, and Xander are both limited to melee attacks, they should definitely be at the top of the wall. Xander may be able to man the catapult himself, but if not, Isabella and/or Spag should be able to help him, or replace him if he needs to fight, unless Althior decides I should do it. Us mages should spread out along the rest of the upper walls, so we're free to cast spells and are ready for battle should the enemy scale the walls. One hero might be useful on the lower level, but frankly I think it's a better idea to focus on thinning their numbers before they arrive, that way we can take out the stragglers with minimal fuss. Perhaps we can leave Finnegan down there as a way to relay orders to the troops. Of course, all of this us up to our trusted Party Leader, Althior. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to look for a torch I can use on enemy ladders. Meanwhile...lower the portcullus, boys!" OOC: They can't enter the interior of the fort until the walls are breached, yes? If so, it seems like a waste to tie up all our forces in places that won't be under attack until later in the battle. Also, I doubt the elves would have metal ladders...not only would they be as expensive as heck and almost as heavy, but it seems out-of-character for the "fair folk". They're wooden...right? And, we (heroes, not the catapult) can target the elves separately from any horses they may be riding, yes? If we can steal their horses after a few waves... -
I agree with both of your points; I'd love to see some diversity in both directions. Friends could use some more girls with less "girly" interests (not to mention it needs more than just ONE guy, especially since he's so much older than the rest!), and System needs more women in general and needs more "artists" and other less "burly man" occupations. (The Collectible Series minis do a lot for that, but I want to see a Lego theatre with actors performing Shakespeare, and other more artistic pursuits.) In response to the bolded comment in Haltiamieli's comment, it's becoming less obscure with Americans...however, there are also those who view soccer as a girl's sport for some reason. (I've endured some unwelcome* remarks about my sexuality when I played soccer with a local group. Of course, other friends immediately told them off for it, but still...) *Off-topic (highlight)Unwelcome because it was none of their business, and because they insinuated I was "sinful" if I didn't adhere to their concepts of manhood. Unless you play forum Mafia...

Indirectly, definitely. Heroica NEEDS its own "Head of Vecna" incident. Hmm...actually...

Remember "How It Should Have Ended: Iron Man"? Something in that vein.

Not as the main quest, but sort of... One thing I should mention is, my Quest concept has a substantial number of side-quests involved. Once it's ready, gets approved, and is finished by the players, I'd estimate I'll only have used about 40-60% of the material I'll have prepared for it, depending on what choices the players make and how clever/successful they are with the side-quests they take on.

Heh heh heh, I'd just finished a map I sent to Darkdragon: EDIT: Upon looking at your map, I see we've suggested different spots. I suggest A4 and B6, while you suggest A5 and B7. You also suggst A9, which I feel wouldn't be as likely as D8 or D9. You haven't found anything on the D row yet, after all...

I am suddenly reminded of Irregular Webcomic!... And anyway, it's all the same loot and EXP, yes? Isn't that all we care about as Heroes??
