"I agree with Althior. We NEED to get out in the forest and fell some trees for lumber and stakes." Arthur heads out to the forest. -

"Well, that's one way the Elves can't get in. Woohoo, first blood spilt defending the fort!" He stares straight at Spag as he says this. -
Pie, you live in Florida? I'm heading that way tomorrow! (Disney World, natch.)

Hey, what about the latter?! Don't we deserve some luck??? In other news: stupid player move of the day:

The lighting on this one is just spectacular! What light sources do you use?

OOC: I'm assuming since both of these are in the courtyard I can look over and see the lean-to from the Well? -==IC: Arthur==- "Good one, Arasmyth! We could even dismantle the lean-to itself for extra supplies." -
Are...are you serious? Pretty much the entire theme is nothing but vehicles. (Granted, they'd mostly be at midi scale, but still...) The problem is, unless they base the sets off the reboot, there's no "open-ended" storyline for the Lego Club comics/tv specials/etc. like there is for Star Wars. Even more so than SW fans, Trekkies tend to be oversensitive about the history and chronology (and don't even get me started on the "official canon only" vs. "beta-canon (books, games, and comics) is real canon" split). A tie-in with Star Trek Online (which takes place in the "main" universe) would be pretty nice, and with Lego Universe dead there's no reason Lego wouldn't want to support it via tie-ins. Plus, that would give you the "Existing Characters." The thing is, minifig-scale sets of the ships would be just plain too big. A minifig-scale U.S.S. Venture (a small for Trek scoutship) would rival the Imperial Star Destroyer set in size, a Defiant would rival the UCS Imperial Star Destroyer, an Akira-class would be larger than the UCS Super Star Destroyer, and a Constellation-class would be taller and longer than a person. A Galaxy-class at minifig scale would likely be too large to fit in a room. (Also, the last two would need upwards of 500 minifigures to be anywhere near accurate.) No, aside from perhaps a generic command bridge, a few generic hallways, and MAYBE Main Engineering, Sickbay, or a Transporter Room, minifig-scale sets won't work, the focus of the line would be midi-scale ships (almost in the vein of Architecture, but cooler and with more playability). Since the focus isn't on minifigs and characters, the few that would be included should be generic characters and aliens that kids can put their own personality on; it's the same reason why Red in Pokemon and Link in the Legend of Zelda are silent protagonists, so the character assumes the personality the player gives them. That's my line of thinking, anyway, make of my insane rambling what you will.

This wasn't addressed to me, but I think that either at a brick convention or via LDD RCB we totally need to do a minifig-scale build of Middle-Earth as a whole. Obviously, distances between locations would be SEVERELY shortened, but I think it could be done. Perhaps the look of the whole could be a "map of Middle-Earth," with models/giant viginettes of the indiviidual scenes and locations being placed on their location on the map?

Ack! They've discovered my scumtell! Doc, this running gag has reached critical mass, it's time for QM-led Mafia in-jokes in the Quest.

Yes. Win! And I guess this means that The Hobbit film is FINALLY coming out! EDIT: I agree about Council of Elrond/Rivendale, but I really hope LEGO includes "alternate building instructions" with the sets or LEGO Club Magazine building instructions.

It would if we had been hired by the Shadeaux to set a snare for the Lion Knights...

Arthur decides to check out the well, and let the others follow him if they want to. OOC: There's no real reason we need to all stay in one group while we fortify the place, is there? -

Arthur then checks the ceiling, both for existing murder holes and for potential attachment points to add traps. He tries to recall if the upper floors had any murder holes, or if they had attachment points. -

OOC: I am so jealous of your brilliant arrow loop design. Why couldn't I have thought of that?? Also, are those along all the walls of the fort? Are there murder holes built into the floors at all? Man, I want LDD versions of these sets! "Agreed. Hey, chef! Think you could get some cauldrons of boiling water and oil ready for when the first wave arrives?" Arthur readies to check out the lean-to storage room once he gets his answer. -

Why worry about frequency when you can tell them apart by feel? (Excepting, of course, when they're handed out by the cashier or something.) -

"I agree. Let's go to the barracks. Also, as another idea, if the elves try to use ladders to climb the walls, we can set thee ladders on fire using torches." While he's waiting for the others, he sees De'kra's latest reply. Arthur shares this information with the others, then finds a quiet corner in which to write his reply. OOC: I will be gone from 2 PM Pacific time until at least 7 PM, possibly later. Kadabra has control of my character while I'm gone, or K-nut if Kadabra isn't online. -
Star Trek. Not the new movie, and not really the classic stuff either (though the Constitution-Class and the Galaxy-class would be a must anyway). I'd like to see Lego do something for Star Trek like it did with the first wave of Lego Batman, an existing franchise but a completely original storyline. Heck, if they look at the creations on the LU Creation Lab, they've already got LDD designs for about a hundred different sets, of all different price ranges, and plenty of story ideas...

Yes he is. All the more reason to not get duplicates of the Roman Soldier--after all, we all know that two thongs don't make a right. -
Please, please, PLEASE tell me there's a comment feature like on the LU Creation Lab.

Heroica RPG - Quest #17: The Lion's Share
Flipz replied to Brickdoctor's topic in The Heroica Archive
OOC: when I was reading through the older Quests, I kept getting player characters confused with each other--at one point, I had Althior and Ad-hoh completely crossed in my mind. Plus, as I said, it looks AWESOME. -==IC: Arthur==- Arthur suddenly remembers his enchanted book. He decides to write down the list of ideas in it, to see if his friend had any more, when he saw a note already there. Arthur calls to Althior and Arasmyth to come see this important information. While he waits for them, he inscribes a short summary of the situation. -

That's a very good point, although the requirement of signing up to vote probably would defeat a fair number of the most basic bots. (I do think they need a reCaptcha or something similar as part of sign-up, tho.) I doubt the Minecraft project got to 10,000 based on bots, tho, and even if there were a few they were likely drowned out by the horde of legitimate votes. Minecraft is inherently viral, and anything Notch says is considered by many fans as the word of god, even when it comes to stuff outside of the game itself. (Oh how I would hate to play Mafia as scum against Notch...can all the sheep please say 'baaaaa'?)
