  1. Agreed. One of the things that makes the EU so interesting is that there are literally thousands of characters, with developed backstories and characterization, that one can follow. Tying it all together, while tempting, is a mistake. Legacy of the Force pulled it off well because it was broken up between different books, it was done logically (i.e. Wedge would be involved more when Corellia was the focus of the war, Pellaeon would show up when the Empire was approached, etc.), and, unless Troy Denning was on a character-mutilating spree* writing, non-Force characters actually did something besides being backdrop scenery for the rest of the cast. *Ignore the strikethrough text, I'm just ticked off about how Denning wrote Invincible. The plot points were fine, but his writing is completely unlikeable, and the characters were completely off (aside from the Hapans, who got ignored for the rest of the series that he didn't write). Seriously, if I ever meet the man, I will challenge him to a lightsaber duel, with the bet being that if I win he never touches the Mandalorians, ever again.
  2. I almost managed to solo an Ent Ancient with my Level 11 Warrior, but had to nexus out when I got shotgunned and started flashing red. Since there aren't any more classes unlocked just by getting to Level 5 (they all require combos of Level 20s now), I plan to focus on getting as far as possible with a given character as I possibly can before dying. Most likely, my "final" classes will be Necro, Priest, and Paladin, I'm liking the sound of heal + high defense.
  3. You know, I REALLY hated Warrior at first, but now it's grown on me. I expect the decent sword and +20 armor make a huge difference. :P I think I'll try for 20.
  4. The bigger stores seem to manage to keep the "good pieces" spread out between bags. The store in Anaheim actively tries to avoid putting minifigs in the grab bags, but at least they save those for their "special" grab-bags for little kids who are quite obviously having a very bad day. The price per bag is a little steep for me, I'd almost rather buy a set wich specifically has an assortment of parts I know I need. (It doesn't help that all the sets this year are about US$15.00 overpriced, meaning I have little extra money to spare.)
  5. Isn't leveling lower-level characters (level gained in the Party) one of the easier ways to earn Fame, though? Just a thought.
  6. "Ah, remember, those towers cannae be climbed by grappling hooks. If tha Elves get into tha fort on tho' sides, it'd be 'cause tha towers and walls themselves had been brough' down, in which case tha drop traps would be useless. I'd advise puttin' one above tha gatehouse (since tha's tha only side I can think of tha' would be possible for them ta cross, if they somehow broke tha gate but not tha gatehouse), and thu rest on the West-side walls and towers. Unless ya think the gatehouse would be a waste, in which case it'd be best ta put them on the Northwest and Southwest towers, and the West and Southwest walls. Also, where are tha rest o' us goin' ta be? I'd recommend all our ranged forces ta stay on tha towers an' walls, in order ta be able ta blast anywhere at will, while our melee folk ought ta operate siege weaponry or else stand at tha base o' tha West wall. I'll be stayin' at tha West wall's base, so as ta have access ta both tha ground weapons an' tha Mini Merlin. As such, Arthur's spiky vine ought ta go on the Northwest Tower. OOC: Can we please have a recap on the movement rules, just so we're all clear? Here's what I understand: it takes a turn to move between any two adjacent locations on the map, and different floors count as adjacent to each other, taking an extra turn to navigate. A rope between two locations will (within logic and reason) reduce the transit time to one Turn, and will allow things like climbing from the ground to the top of a wall (which would be impossible otherwise). Also, if the locations are adjacent, you can move and attack in one turn, right? So, a rope from the Northwest Tower to the West wall would allow a hero to melee attack an enemy on the West wall in the same turn they decide to move, and (if the enemy falls) next turn return to the catapult? It'd be irrelevant for ranged Heroes, but crucial for melee classes (like Alexandre and Helm), which is why I'm asking.
  7. I need to powerlevel a Wizard to 20 and try out Necro. Incidentally, I figured out why our Guild dies so much: we have too few members on at any given time. If we could gather parties of, say, 10-20 at once, we could powerlevel from about Level 5, and lead them safely through godlands. (10-20 players of our own, higher than Level 13 or so, the Level 5s would be random Nexus players, we'd powerlevel them for fame.)
  8. OK, I officially suck at this game. At least that Level 3 Oryx run got me to Level 7 before I stupidly teleported into lava...
  9. I have 7 so far. Any tips on farming Fame?
  10. Really? Which one, I might know the name. I lived near Yokosuka for five years, from 2003-2008. Where in Japan are you, anyway, Def, are you near Yokohama and Tokyo or do you live further north, toward Misawa and Hokkaido? Or do you live further south, toward Saga and the southern islands?
  11. Is Guild fame just Fame from Guild members who die? If so, the moment my current char gets 20 fame (for the Class Quest), I'm so slaughtering him...
  12. Haha, great pun! I bet if Walt Disney himself were still alive, he'd be able to turn a game of Mafia into a (fairly) family-friendly movie, though... :hmm:
  13. OOC: Note that Arthur is resting, and that Count Knyghton has the rest of Arthur's inventory (aside from his Bedroll) until the pattle starts, at which time the equipment will be given back to Arthur. Count Knythgton (OOC: who speaks in this color) steps back from the edge of the North-West Tower (from which he had been using the Telescope) and stumbles across Helm. "Say, lad, anythin' I can do ta help ya?"
  14. As long as Sandy doesn't start the Lyren and Nuitan Quest while I'm on a Wren Quest...sign me up! EDIT: Also, if you need help writimg up blurbs for folks in the NPC index, I'd be happy to help.
  15. "Master Harkenshire, perhaps you could train with our archers, seeing as you share similar weapons? And Master Delvergrow, have you any devious plans that might help us get the jump on the Elves? We've already pretty much limited their approach to be from one direction, though knowing them they will likely find some small-scale method of bypassing it, but nonetheless I feel we've done everything we can think of. Perhaps a new prespective--that is to say, your perspective--will help us to find even more way to defend ourselves against the Elves." While he wait's for Helm's reply, he picks up Arthur's Telescope and looks through it to see if he could gain any more information on the Elves' numbers and approach.
  16. "Also, p'raps if Master Delvergrow isn' too busy, 'e should join tha troops fer trainin', so he can hone his skills as well. P'raps a few friendly sparrin' matches would be in order?"
  17. Does anyone else think this should be frontpaged?
  18. What, the rest of you don't do that anyway?? Am I the only person here who ruins peoples' childhoods on a regular basis?
  19. You, sir, just won the Internet. Actually, now that I think about it, Marvel's all-the-stories-affect-each-other policy fits the natural Massive Multiplayer Crossover nature of LEGO far better than DC's canon...then again, Batman's awesome.
  20. Holy cow, that's impressive! Great job cramming all that detail into one model, that must have taken a LOT of effort. I really like the use of the Ninjago snake for the basilisk, and Aragog's nest in the Forbidden Forest is great, too. Where do those spider tiles come from? Excellent MOC, BeKindRewind!
  21. Happy Birthday, Khorne!
  22. "Ah, you mean we ask Luke now. Master Althior isn't in a position to be asked questions of."
  23. OK, I'm in the Nexus, I'll be by the guild creator thingy.
