  1. It may also have something to do with having less than 10 posts--I remember I had trouble changing those settings until I hit the 10 post minimum.
  2. I'd also suggest, "He plays at Real Madrid" or "He plays at the club Real Madrid." Playing for the club implies he plays there under contract, perhaps because he's their primary entertainer. Playing at the club implies that he plays there regularly, but he's not necessarily their headline act or even under contract; he likely plays there part-time or freelance. If he's not the main entertainer at Real Madrid, then "at" is more appropriate.
  3. Missing parts are always annoying, especially if they're rare. Anyhow, welcome! We're always happy to see new members. Have fun at the EB event coming up!
  4. I've given up on sorting entirely, if I need something I'll just tear parts off some other half-disassembled MOC I have lying around. Welcome to Eurobricks!
  5. Hey, another space fan! Cool! Welcome! Looking forward to seeing your work.
  6. Arthur checks his journal and sees De'kra's response. He reads it aloud to the rest of the party, at least the parts that would be relevant to them. Arthur dashes off a reply.
  7. Arthur races down from the fort and into the woods, gathering as many ropes, string, and vines as he can find. He begins weaving them into makeshift nets to launch at Elves. He also finds some branches that appear suitable for throwing, and prepares them to be lit as torches to throw at (and hopefully burn) the Elves. He looks at the North and East sides of the fort and wonders how much Ether it would take to simply create a pair of thorny, damaging spiked barricades along those sides. He then mentally chides himself for his stupidity and, with the help of the Count, builds a pair of 8-stud long, 8-stud high wooden barricades with wooden spikes on them, pointing outward. He then runs to Althior. "Althior! We need to use your shovel and/or Garnet to widen the riverbed along the East side of the fort, so that the Elves can't cross the river on that side; the water would come up to the wall, and they'd have no solid place to stand to reach a rope on that side. We can line the very edge of the river with ordinary wooden stakes to prevent siege weaponry from coming in that direction. Meanwhile, someone needs to carve some larger stones to have sharp spines on them to increase their damage, and to try to find a similar solution for smaller stones." Arthur then concentrates on his borrowed Emerald, trying to transform a vine into one with a hidden knot that will make it extend or retract its sharp thorns, so it may be climbed by allies but would deal a bit of damage to enemies who try to climb it. He plans to attach it to the wall to reduce the amount of time it would take for Count Knyghton to get between the Mini Merlin and the siege weapons on the ground.
  8. Oh, hell to the yeah! Now I REALLY want us to win this last battle quickly, with my share of the Quest reward, I can get almost everything I want for Arthur in one fell swoop. (Actually, if Alf accepts a certain offer from Arthur, and Arthur manages to pick up an extra 30 gold after that, he could get two scrolls for himself! Or maybe he shouldn't spend the money on the Topaz, but should instead just buy three scrolls and maybe complete his collection of scrolls if he manages to get 30-50 gold off the elves...decisions, decisions...)
  9. Thanks a bunch, this fixed a LOAD of things!
  10. Arthur contemplates how much Ether it would take to mutate one of the plants into a Venomous Tentacula. While he thinks, he uses his telescope to scan the forest for any Ents, mandrakes, or poisonous/venomous plants. Meanwhile, Count Knighton turns his attention to Althior and the Slice N Dice. "Master Althior, would ya mind terribly if we moved tha Slice N Dice ta tha West Wall? Tha majority o' tha Elves'll be comin' from that way, an' it'd make it easier for me to move back and forth between tha Mini Merlin and tha Slice N Dice. The Hiyaaaaaa Hwacha can take hits for two rounds, 'til it runs out o' ammo." OOC: When Arasmyth runs out of ammo for the Hiyaaaaaa Hwacha, how long would it take for him to man the Slice N Dice? Just trying to figure out if it would be feasible for use to make extra siege weapons.
  11. Maybe they took an arrow to the knee are all busy with other things.
  12. It's worth pointing out that there has been a canonical grey ninja in the Ninjago theme, in LEGO Universe (which is set an unsecified length of time after the main storyline). His name is Neido, and he's a Ninja of Imagination. In-game, he uses the same Spinjitsu style as Sensei Wu, which is interesting as well. When was this? What theme? And more importantly, how can I get the parts from those sets?
  13. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Relativistic_shield ^Explains why this particular case of time-travel didn't bother me. Note that it references a real-world effect of near-light velocities that is often conveniently glossed over in most science fiction. Also of note is that the time travel is both one-way and forward, which means it's roughly the equivalent of someone being stuck in a slab of carbonite for a few centuries or some sith lord's evil artifact being buried for thousands of years before being uncovered and used to return the sith to life (neither of which, when done well, are bad plot points). As for the second part...well, I just re-read that bit. If the plan had been to sell it for funding for the Rebellion, that might have made a bit of sense, but he specifically states that it was meant purely for use as a motivational symbol. Hmm, didn't the Marek family crest do that well enough? (The Republic Group wouldn't have known that in-story, but from a meta standpoint it was common knowledge by that point, and an author should have known even better than most that that plot point had already been used and would seem stale if used again.) It was a great, GREAT story that was let down by a rushed and nonsensical climax. Add to that the fact that the ending ties into the beginnings of the atrocity that is FotJ, and you've got an ironclad recipe for disappointment.
  14. This great superweapon that these senators thought would take down a corrupt dictator (and Sith Lord) was a freaking statue/plaque?! That was my initial reaction. The one guy who followed the Solos in tried to explain it, but it was a huge letdown for me. It would have been more satisfying if the vault had been completely empty and the whole quest had been a complete waste of time, IMO. I liked Ben's brush with darkness in Inferno, and that is the last good thing you will hear me say about a Troy Denning book. The time-travel was actually handled pretty well (it makes sense if you've studied the way hyperdrives are supposed to work, there's been previous documented cases of ordinary citizens messing with the temporal shielding on their hyperdrive and stranding themselves hundreds of years in the future). It's the lignan bit and the overall slowness of the plot that I didn't like.
  15. Heh, just as I send the PM. my bad... Also, I think your QM posted. EDIT: Incedentally, I wanna see a picture of Finnegan in a hula skirt. Nao.
  16. "Hey, yeah, where is Finnegan? If nothing else, we can dress him in a hula skirt and have him dance the luau to distract the Elves. I'm gonna go look for him, everyone else, keep working."

    Farewell

Well, now we'll know who to credit every time an awesome LEGO Star Wars set come out, eh? Good luck, and may the Force be with you.
  18. "Welp, looks like we'll need more gear, then. I'll scrounge what parts I can from the destroyed Elven onagers and build one onager of our own from the spare parts." Arthur suddenly has another brilliant idea. "Guys, quick, we need to melt down as much metal as we can into a wire." While he speaks, he nails a wooden stake to each end of a plank, making a U-shape. He then fashions a crude swivel stand for the device, allowing the ends to be aimed at various foes. "If we wrap the wires around the stakes, then have Arasmyth operate it with bolts of Lightning, we'll get a device that acts a lot like a Sorcerer's Shield effect can pull the enemy's gear (and gold) out of their hands. Isabella's help with the catapults made me think of it, I call it the Isabella-inator." "If anyone else has any ideas, no matter how crazy, NOW is the time." Just then, Arthur notices his book start to grow. In his haste, he scribbles quickly, making no note of spelling, grammar, or politeness. Arthur's breath chills, as an unnatural cold fills his body. He whispers silently, as if to De'kra. "Hurry. They are coming."
  19. "Exactly. And it will give us an opportunity to see more of the gorgeous builds created by the Voice in the Sky. Or, if you're that worried, send Alexandre and Arasmyth alone, they're both Elves, and Alexandre's Diplomacy is exactly suited for this thing." "While thu rest o' ya argue, I'm goin' ta take stock o' all our defenses."
  20. Millennium Falcon was an immensely interesting read...right up until they reach the last planet, the one with the Yuuzhan Vong stuff on it. The plot just runs headfirst into a brick wall, trips over its own two feet, and falls straight off a cliff...and ends in a whimper. It's...just...GRAH! SO MUCH WASTED PLOT POTENTIAL! As for Tempest...it was written by Troy Denning. 'Nuff said.
  21. Well, Rakatans are pretty decent as well, at least from what I know of them in the original Knights of the Old Republic game. But yeah, I had a sneaking suspicion FotJ was gonna tie in to other media, and this just goes to show it's tied into more than one. (FotJ is setting up stuff for the epic comic book series Legacy, which, along with the similarly epic Knights of the Old Republic comic book series, was cancelled to make way for...you guessed it...TCW. You know, when I first saw the early parts of TCW, I thought it was going to redeem the Prequel Trilogy. And I guess it has, in a way. Just not the way I expected. *cough*PrequelsarenolongertheworstpartofStarWars*cough* In all seriousness, TCW started off promising, and then just suddenly collapsed under itself. In other news, I just finished reading Crosscurrent...I've gotta say, meh. If this is Jaden Korr, then I'm not even going to bother with the last installment of the Jedi Knight video game series. The whole thing set up to be interesting, but the plot moved like a bantha through quicksand and by the end I was just wishing it was over sooner. It's by no means worse than Millennium Falcon, or worse, Tempest from Legacy of the Force , but in the end it's just rather useless. It doesn't affect anyone or anything, and there's too much failed Force Unleashed knock-offs to be worthwhile. TFU was great. Really, it was, it was an interesting story wrapped around an interesting concept and bogged down by a wooden voice performance and cutscenes (at least in the Wii version). The book was no Timothy Zahn or Karen Traviss work, but it was still good. The bad thing about TFU was, every author and his brother decided they had to one-up Galen Marek afterwards, leading to the unsympathetic mass of overpowered super-jedi we see in TCW and FotJ. TFU kept the franchise relatively mainstream in between Revenge of the Sith and TCW, but at the same time it marked the final point in which the Star Wars franchise remained on the good side of the proverbial shark. I am convinced that, after the end of TFU, Palpatine went to the nearest aquatic world, found a shark, and Force-Lightninged it until it came back to life.
  22. No, here's what happened: in Quest 17, Doc said that I'd have to use the WP of my serpentine staff (WP:3) if I wanted to use my Ice magic, because my new staff is wood-elemental. I was pointing out that according to the rules I CAN use the WP of my wood-elemental staff (WP:5) for ice magic, even though the staff and the magic are of two different Elements. The magic would still be ice elemental (not wood elemental), but the damage would be calculated using WP:5 instead of WP: 3. Hopefully that clears up what we were talking about. EDIT: Dear god, if Alexis were to make it onto Quest 17 the roleplaying would be epic. The battle would be a bloodbath, but the roleplaying would be so awesome.
  23. "Thank you Arasmyth. I shall make good use of it for now, but once the Quest is over, I will return it to William." "Althior, are you sure? Unless you'd like to build an onager from the remains of the elven ones that have attacked us, my expertise in siege weaponry will be minimally helpful, and the Count can handle such preparations in any case. If nothing else, we can confuse the Elves, or force them to strike before they are ready. I shall look through my telescope from the top of the tallest tower, and if we go forth I shall let you borrow my telescope while we are gone. Arasmyth and Alexandre seem to be ready to go along with this, it's a valuable opportunity, and we may even be able to loot the Elven encampment, which would be most helpful." "Alexandre, if Althior approves our scouting mission, I'd like you to let Isabella or one of the others borrow your crossbow, since we'd only be fighting at melee range if the Elves discern our deception."
  24. "I have a strange feeling that my gut feeling was wrong. If we're going to do this, we need to do it now." This said, Arthur retrieves his (OOC: Roleplay-only) Elven cloak from earlier and attempts to make himself look more naturally attuned. "Althior or Arasmyth, could you use an Emerald to make vines start growing from my clothes? It will give them a more 'natural' look, lending to the illusion that I am in actuality friendly toward the Elves." Arthur then goes outside and examines the bodies for any other details that might lend credence to their story.
  25. "An Elven horse that's still more loyal to the Elves than he is to you. If you rode him into camp he'd give us all away. No, I'd recommend just the three of us; the rest of the party can hold off the Elves for a while if something goes wrong and we are delayed getting back, but there's just enough of us to be both believable AND effective if we are found out and it comes down to a fight. I chose Alexandre because of his Diplomatic presence, Arasmyth because he is an Elf and could passably pass himself off as a Brobric, and myself because, well, I know how to bluff. " "If we were to take anyone else, I'd choose Xander, we could have him pose as our prisoner and tell the Elves he'd be a useful hostage against the Lion Knights. I'm only suggesting him because, well, because the Elves know him and it would bolster our story. I don't really think that's the absolute best course of action, though, I'm just throwing that out there for everyone's opinion." "Regardless, I have a gut feeling that we should save this plan for the final wave, when we will not have to worry about whether or not it will work a second time and when knowing the stats of our foe will be most valuable."
