Heroica RPG - Expert Job Class Discussion
Flipz replied to LEGOman273's topic in The Heroica Archive
Endgame, I love the concept, but can Audience with the Dead please be tweaked slightly to "as long as the Spirit Medium has seen and remembers the individual (or their body)"? Plot reasons for an NPC. Ideas for rules of spirit channeling here. -
"Why are we still attacking the Chaos Beasts? So long as they are Paralyzed, they are no threat to us if we don't target them, but a great threat if we do. We should let Alexis keep them at bay until we have finished off Sphinx and Chaos...and Wren."
-
JimB, are you rolling a die or flipping a coin?!? It seems almost every roll is either Special Damage OR SHIELD, with nothing in between.
-
"Sure, that works, too. In fact, I'll volunteer to take one of them myself."
-
...although, that was mostly last night. Today it's...

"And that is where our views diverge. Best of luck to you, but I can't let there be any more 'collateral damage' than there already is." "Alexis, please take Beast E, no one else should target a Chaos Beast. Atramor, you're the only one here who can gain immunity to instant KO, thanks to my hat; you should target Wren. If Skrall takes Chaos, then the rest of us can pile on Sphinx." Arthur casts Darkness through Sir Roderick's Sword at Sphinx from the Back Row. Also, .

Good to know, thanks!

I seem to recall it being continued as a "flashback" as well, I'm pretty sure either Skrall or Xander was involved.

Yeah, I think he mentioned something about that in the Etherial Letters event. Real useful topic, that. *Checks top daily posters page* *faints* I make up a FULL PERCENT of the posts on Eurobricks in a day?! Then again, 14 of the top 20 are all Heroica players...

Spoiler alert: Isaac Shawe is actually Boomingham's long-lost uncle's daughter's brother-in-law's nephew's cousin. Twice removed.

I knew it. I freaking called it, even before we left on 38. The only thing I didn't plan on was the need for the Amulet of Gods, thought Sphinx could do that on his own. Zeph, do you remember me PM'ing you at the end of 38 asking if a being without a soul could activate the Amulet? That was me attempting to figure out a loophole I could use so that Arthur could offer to stand in Gray's shoes and still live. I was planning to try to fight Wren on the Etherial plane after she had ascended to godhood and thus take her place. ...oh, crap, that PM was what gave you the idea for Soulless enemies, wasn't it? In other news...we do all that work defending Spires, and we end up with ONE effect opening on ONE enemy? God, I hate those Spires!!! ...and HOLY CRAP, I'm a Grand Duke now!!!

"Alexis, honey, hold very, very still. Wait until I'm finished before you attack. Try and keep the beasts off of our backs." Arthur applies Paralyzing Venom to Alexis' Cat O' Nine Tails, from the Back Row. "Speak for yourself. The death of one that could have been redeemed will be yet another regret, another stain upon my soul. And people call ME heartless... Just for that, you owe me for the one of these you used failing to save Triad," Arthur snaps, shaking the now-empty vial of venom. "Wren...people are supposed to earn their fate. Sphinx earned his...and we are earning ours, whichever way this battle ends. How exactly do you justify what you've done to Passion?"

Well, I was going to complain about that, but then I remembered the poor Guild of Invision gets no love...even from us players. Seriously, is anyone here planning to become an Alchemist at Expert levels? I'm obviously not...for obvious reasons. How about designing a Shadeaux Quest, then? My Quest is main-faction-neutral, and I don't think I really want to try to change that, it would completely alter the tone. I'm thinking about how much people liked the little Ji Pei moment in Etzel's first Quest, as well as in Quest 2, though, so...who knows? Maybe Sandy or another QM will suggest something that would work. Most likely not, though. It's funny, in the early days of the game reputation was supposed to be common and gems were supposed to be rare. It seems that the opposite has become true.

Urgh, more Hinckwell Quests. Don't get me wrong; I'm glad to see you hosting, DLL, it's just that we could really do with some more people hosting Shadeaux-sponsored Quests. I honestly can't think of a Hero with more than one Quest's worth of experience who hasn't had at least a chance to go on a Hinckwell-sponsored Quest or gain Hinckwell reputation; the same isn't so true for the Shadeaux. Just food for thought for future QMs.

Sandy reminds me a lot of one of my professors here at college, I think they'd get along famously. Hopefully I can convince him to join Heroica at some point before I graduate. Also, Zeph, you've inadvertently given me an idea for an AWESOME mechanic...that would have no place in the Quest I'm working on. Dang it!

Arthur, too, knocks back the Soma, nodding in thanks to Haldor.
-
"Good plan, then Sir Cronk can lend Haldor Ennoc's Blessing."
-
"Give Hoke that Brew, I'll give him one of my Remedies to take with it. I wouldn't say no to a Soma for myself if you're offering, though. Dyric'd do well with a Soma, too. And now that I look at things, you should take a Grand Tonic and then your Mulled Wine, so you'll have more Ether for spells and healing."

Mary Magdalene, perhaps?

I think the loot is generous (particularly in Gold--since we have battles for Level 20 and up party members that only drop 13 Gold TOTAL ), but semi-fine (the dagger is a bit high in WP, for a Level 2-6 party I'd probably nerf it to WP:5 and imbue the Amethyst into it to reduce the utility of the gem, but that cloak is perfectly okay for that party level in my view, considering these are mini-bosses). The specials are definitely too rough, though; particularly the "guaranteed" damage and the combo damage AND effect Special. Those numbers are TERRIFYING for low-level Heroes, particularly if you end up with a Mage. I'd say swap things around to have one enemy that deals out Effects and one that's the powerhouse; the healer seems fairly OK as-is. Really, though, aside from Specials I don't think "setting stats in stone" is a good idea; when I run my Quest, I'll have the enemy Specials planned out, but for the most part everything else will be balanced based on the stats of the party I end up with. That allows me to be very flexibile in who I choose, as well as giving me the option to tweak the difficulty mid-Quest based on how the party is doing.

Out of sheer curiosity, does this man have one or more NPCs in Heroica based off of him?
