  1. Arthur spots the dwarven Knight arrive, and his face contorts into a grimace. He moves so that he can intercept Throlar before he can get to the negotiators, diplomatically informing the elves, "You should listen to my companions. They speak wisely," before he goes.
  2. Actually, I think you should balance as if you were hosting a Witch, even if you aren't. It'll keep the more insane urges in check.
  3. Exactly. As a rule of thumb, if you think a Special Mirror of your monster's Special is too OP for your fight, your monster's Special is the OP element. Also, if I never hear the words "balance", "OP", or "nerf" again I will be a happy, happy man.
  4. Perhaps in the "Battle Style" blurb, it says something along the lines of "Swashbucklers must use their wit to make a clever quip or pun with their attack in order to benefit from their positive effects", sort of how the bit about Sages being unable to attack physically is in their Battle Style blurb instead of listed as a job trait?
  5. Exactly, just with Level instead of Weapon Power. And we've all seen the insane multipliers they can get with a big enough army.
  6. I think 0.
  7. Legonardo, I think Derlin would be good friends with Dannylonglegs' character Sylph Solanum. ...or maybe not...
  8. Thank you so much for making Althior's relationship to Finnegan even more disturbing.
  9. I'll second that sentiment.
  10. He's got all of them, so the answer is "yes".
  11. All right. Just finished catching up on today's posts. I am officially in a Bad Mood now. On another forum, someone I know and dearly admire, someone who has been both a mentor and a friend to me and an example toward which I strive has been driven from her own site and from playing a game she used to love by anger and hostility carelessly thrown about by denizens of the internet who either forget or don't care that the person on the other side of the screen is an actual person and not just a collection of pixels on a screen--by the very same sort of hostility and vitriol that I've seen here all throughout the posts of this in-game Day. I've never, ever been the type of person to stand by and do nothing when something nasty is going down, and it eats me up when I see it and can do nothing about it--especially when some of my best friends are involved. I've been told "well, this is how Mafia goes". Well, you know what, maybe it shouldn't. I openly admit, I'm not tough enough for Mafia as it stands--we all know it. Heck, there are times in Heroica, rare as they are, that have been too much for me. I didn't sign up for this to play Mafia; I signed up for this to play a fun game with new and old friends set in the universe of an RPG I love with all my heart. I did not sign up for an experience full of dislike and vitriol--and that's what I'm seeing today. Yes, I get it--people are trying to win. We all are. And this game is won and lost on accusations and acquisition of knowledge--an informed minority versus an uninformed majority that must quickly inform itself if it's going to win. But I saw all of that in Day 2, and it was not the same beast as I'm seeing in Day 3. Something is rotten in the city of Eubric, and it's gotten to the point where I don't feel comfortable participating in the in-game conversation anymore. Maybe I'm soft--like I said, I already know and admit I'm too weak for Mafia. Maybe I'm just young and idealistic. But maybe--just maybe--it's a sign that we should reassess how seriously we're taking our experiences in these games. I apologize for posting this much out-of-topic, but I feel it pertains more to out-of-character concerns than to in-character ones, and to be frank it would be a pain in the megablocks both to type up and to read as Zpilf, not to mention it would require excessive breaking of character and/or vague in-character allusions in order to communicate. In this case, clarity is king--and that means bringing the discussion here.
  12. All right, who mentioned GregTech? (That's a Feed the Beast reference--do a Google search for "Feed the Beast" and "Gregtech" and you'll see what I mean. )
  13. Schezerade's skirt begins to speak, but the ogre underneath is not visible. "If ya wan' people ta help ya an' not get in yer way, ya have ta talk ta them, substanti'lly, oth'rwise it's inevit'ble tha' things'll go awry. An' tha' really is me las' word o' tha Day."
  14. "An' now we see why I Hide ev'ry day." "All o' ye, stop this. I'm not talkin' 'bout yer strategy, I'm talkin' 'bout yer tone. Ye're all behavin' like o'er-spoiled two-year-ol's. Jes' b'cause we're huntin' murd'rin' psych'paths don't mean we can't be r'spectful 'bout it. And I'm fully aware o' tha irony, thank'ee. I've learned a lot o'er tha pas' while." "'Sides, ain't no be'ter place fer tha scumbags ta hide than amongs' flamin' vitriol. We're so busy accusin' each other tha' we end up missin' altergether. Now, I'm certain tha' there are Nephilim among those ta be killed t'day, an' there are also inn'cent Heroes 'mong tha' number. An' if we c'ntinue jumpin' at shadows, tha's 'xactly wha's goin' ta happen, day by day, 'ntil tha las' Scum can finish us all off. 'Cept fer me, since I hope b'now ev'ryone's figgered out I'm Neutral. But still. Doin' things jus' like ye're doing, but CALMLY, 'll give ya a fightin' chance. Actin' like met'phor'cal chickens wi' yer heads cut off, on tha other hand, 'll jus' get yer REAL heads chopped off." "Oh, an' Kharybdis, Calico? Tha Minstrel's got one thin' righ'. Y'all've got SERIOUS c'mmunication issues. Y'migh' wan' ta work those out. Jus' some frien'ly 'dvice." "Now. Since nothin' of real value's happened, an' no one's asked fer my help in killin' a suspect with CALM, REASONED arg'ments b'hind tha d'cision, I'm goin ta c'ntinue Hidin' un'er Schezerade's skirt here, an' get me some well-deserved rest." Hearing the conversation go on and on and on... before he's even finished speaking, the disgruntled ogre pulls his head back under the fabric of the Orcish barmatron's dress with a distinct harrumph, hoping the Hall would come to its senses, but strongly doubting it would.
  15. "'pologies, all, I seem ta be in a spot o' pers'nal IRL trouble, if ya catch me drift. A word ta tha wise: if ya value yer life, do not underestimate tha myst'rious art o' 'Yoga'. Me poor, achin' back..." "Anyhow, as a result o me pers'nal problems, I'll likely be unable to perform any other actions for tha rest o' tha in-game day. If ya have need o' me, now is tha time. Sorry fer tha inconvenience." EDIT: to change the formatting for clarity--I'm still using Hide as per my original action unless someone really needs my help. Also, just to be clear: this is a personal problem, there is no in-game effect preventing me from acting.
  16. Sandy, I thought you said this game wouldn't be as fast and intense as Mafia.
  17. "Ser'ously, Zarissa? I tol' ya ta heal Panduin." "'nless someone I can trust tells me diff'ren', I can' trus' ya no more. An' in fact..." "Does anyon' know wha' gems Kob an' Pauline had? If either o' em had an Opal, p'raps tha Opal Zarissa gave me was 'riginally theirs, passed on by tha Nephilim, an' her real gem was somethin' else."
  18. Question: is it everyone who correctly answers the riddle that gets experience, or just the first one?
  19. "Has anyone else noticed there seems to be a problem with the translation? There's a letter that doesn't seem to translate properly--there seem to be two instances of the letter 'n'." "To my knowledge, Zarissa only had an Opal, which I still have. (If there are any trustworthy magic-users among us who could still make use of it, let me know.)"
  20. Zpilf Hides.
  21. That handcannon would be EPIC in the hands of an Evoker. Kadabra, I recommend getting some money together for Benji.
  22. Exactly...the Golden Dragon hailed from Dastan. I wonder, though--does that mean that the Shadeaux (who are originally from Charis as far as we know) has and even more ancient connection with the Dastan Empire? Hmm...time to re-read that Quest where we first met Count Shadeaux...
  23. I was trying to find a video of the Harryhausen's decontamination scene from Monsters Inc., but the internet has failed me.
  24. I was under the impression that the Dragonlord got his Dragoon skills directly from Dastan, not from the Shadeaux. This idea is reinforced by the only Dragoon in CAT (U'Dargan) being a U'kin, a species that hails primarily from Dastan. I fully plan (and, actually, request) that when the game is over, I'd like to see the bios for every character involved. I have a couple of NPCs coming up who have experience with these pre-Purge Heroes, so I'd like to tie in when and how I can.
  25. I believe the spell that protects the Heroicans comes from the Aurora Nôrnalis (Quest 58), which (judging by the name) the Veterans didn't have until The Valkyrie joined and became a Veteran.
