  1. Well, we couldn't one-hit anyone, and if we failed to completely kill someone, we'd be exposed and instantly killed. Additionally, the Town got to bring back unlimited people (via the Alchemist) and had a minimum of four Cops via Magnifying Glasses, whereas we had exactly one conversion (via a consumable, the Angel's Whisper) and had zero chance to revive our own. We also had to contend with Scuba, who was completely unbalanced. If Ether was a totally finite resource, it would have been fine, but his ability to act multiple times per phase was nuts. (Not your fault, Scuba, you used your abilities well. )
  2. Also suits a Survivor, or a Townie who's afraid of Scum. Not everyone on the planet is 100% selfless.
  3. Time for some honesty: I signed up for CAT against my better judgment. I wanted to support Sandy and the Heroica anniversary, but at the same time I knew that I wouldn't be able to be active enough for a game like this, and I absolutely loathe playing Scum--I don't think I'll ever play Mafia again, anywhere, just because of that risk I'll get drafted. My scum-mates were awesome, and they made it bearable, but Scum-hood was still more of a burden than a privilege. And yes, I'm fully aware that I'm just a soft-hearted sentimental weakling who's not cut out for Mafia--like I said, honesty time. This game was absolutely brutal on me. If there had been more deaths per phase (or hell, even just a permanent converter role to even the odds from the damn Alchemist), I could have gotten by with the level of activity I had, but with the Phoenix Essences and Magnifying glasses screwing us over every time we caught a break? I have a life to live outside of EB, and I just couldn't swing a proper CAT run without ruining that life. In fact, I think the absolute number one problem with this game was real-time action tallying. In Heroica, a PvE playing field, real-time actions are fine for the most part (Q44 Pandemonicon situation, I'm looking at you as the exception). IMO, in any PvP environment (which includes the Arena), actions should happen in a predetermined order (even if that order is simply determined by dice roll), not in real time. Several people on the Scum team got killed simply because they had a real life and couldn't be online the MOMENT the day/night started, and that's just not cool. I was also disappointed by the inconsistency in day starts. I know there's nothing Sandy could have done there, but personally, I would have preferred longer delays between Days and Nights if that meant getting the phase shift at the EXACT same time each day--it would have made the real-time thing just a little more fair, at least. I'm specifically thinking of the day where I got up at 4:30 am my time just to be sure I was up for the phase shift, and then it didn't happen until I was in class at 10:30. I also agree with the statements saying that Night-time actions should have been completely blind. Would have, in fact, made it funner for both sides. I'm curious, why did people find me scummy? I literally tried to play a pure Town game, with the exception of passing info to my teammates and helping them plot their actions--I even had to apologize to the Scum a couple times for pointing out flaws in the Town's logic, making it easier for them to find us. The only two times I actually attacked, I was doing it on orders from the Town.
  4. AFAIK, it's still supposed to be that way. Yes, dual-striking the same target is specifically allowed, but the target of the secondary strike is still determined by the enemy battle order, not by the player attacking. Starting with the third Quest in line and continuing to the finale, several of my Quests will feature playable flashbacks. At least two of these are set in pre-CAT days, and I'm already working on tweaking the CAT ability system for those specific Quests (for example, Venoms are all applied directly to an enemy, rather than being used on weapons, Hide and Meditate become attack options instead of Miss rolls, etc.).
  5. "Pile on, everyone! If Alexander and Lord Boomingham (in that order) manage to hit the big one Swordsman B, the rest of us should be able to finish off the other one." Arthur casts a Darkness spell through Sir Roderick's Sword at Swordsman A from the Back Row. Eleryian, meanwhile, attacks Swordsman A, stepping Forward to stand between the beast and Ahvialyn.
  6. Arthur also follows the others, staying alert for any distractions suspicious activity that might need investigating.
  7. Yeah, Mediq was voted as permanent, because his effect is not overly-strong, and because he has a name.
  8. I think he's trying to traumatize Karie by Hexing her again.
  9. OOC: Wait, are we fighting the two swordsmen who are on their way, or going after the people who were meeting with the Pogs? Because the latter may influence whether I have Arthur stay or go. "If you need a Hero to go with you, I'd be the best choice--out of the true Heroes here, I'm the one whose unique talents would be least missed by the rest of the party, I think."
  10. Especially him in Pulp Fiction. ...does that technically make Nur Samuel L. Jackson? And who does John Travolta play in Heroica?
  11. OOC: Psst...Alex, use Track Down. Though perhaps you should get us first, via the same skill.
  12. Arthur equips the Counterstrike Gloves and passes Boomingham his Overkill Gloves.
  13. "Apologies, Sir Kadarphazân, you seem to be having a bit of trouble. Perhaps you can switch the Ancient Crown for the Scarf of Misfortune Lady Saeavel is wearing, and she can wear the Ancient Crown."
  14. OOC: Grand Tonics restore 15 Ether. Also, Nerwen healed Boomers and Kadarphazân, her Boots/Natural Respite should have healed her, and there's still 30 Gold left to divide (255+75=330, and 100 to each of us only comes out to 300). Unwilling to waste more time playing with Scrolls, Arthur drinks a Mead. "Nice shield, Sir Kadarphazân. Where did you get it? I know a Hero back in the Hall who would pay well for shields that offer such inherent protections." "Lord Boomingham, perhaps you and I should switch gloves? Given Scupperer's strength against the Pogs, I'm sure my gloves would be a bit more effective in your hands, and I believe there's a chance I could double-strike the enemies with your gloves if we left them untargeted." OOC: Counterstrike should stack with Zap-Tap, correct?
  15. No, I'm pretty sure the Monocle counts as an Accessory--I remember because I had to give up the Lens of Speed-Reading back in Q70 to equip it. Honestly, this is the most fun part of the game for me--equipping other people with my stuff, taking other peoples' great builds and trying to make them utterly broken.
  16. "Or if we find Alexander, he can Track Down the Pirate from the tracks."
  17. Arthur adds 255 Gold to the loot pile. "Sir Kadarphazân, you should borrow my Ancient Crown and Sticky Gloves for the moment--Lord Boomingham, if you could lend him your Marksman's Monocle, it would be most helpful as well. Heck, if you lent him Scupperer, I could lend him my Overkill Gloves." "In any event--Master Elerylian, please borrow my Cloak of Deception, and Lady Saevael, I'd be happy to let you borrow my Scarf of Misfortune as well." Arthur then casts the Scroll of Recklessness on himself and Boomingham, then drinks a Grand Tonic.
  18. "After so that I can deal the final blow." Just put Boomers after Sir K., and then Frail after them--Hopefully he'll still be alive, so we can get max Overkill.
  19. "Master Elerylian and I have the swordsman, if Sir Kadarphazân can take the crossbowmen again, everyone else can stay put. Lady Nerwen, I'd appreciate if you made the crossbowman Fragile after Sir Kadarphazân attacks. I'd also like Master Elerylian to strike before me, if possible." Arthur repeats, while Elerylian joins him in attacking Pongcanis Swordsman B from the Back Row.
  20. "I'd actually prefer you to Frail the second Swordsman--soften him up for Lord Boomingham's Counterstrike and my own hit next Round."
  21. Guts is going to kill Docken...unless somebody else gets to him first. Wait, Nyx can use the Mod Rod, right...?
  22. "Well, seein' as I'm not privy ta wha's goin' on, I'll jus' use me Gold ta buy two bombs. Jus' in case."
  23. OOC: Psst, typo, Sandy. Unsure what to do at this point, Zpilf tracks Weyrdág and Flies to safety.
  24. OOC: Did you roll for Lucky? If so, dang. "Blast. All right, new plan: Sir Kadarphazân should take the crossbowman, and you can patch him up afterwards. Lady Nerwen, if you could Frail the second Swordsman, I'd be much obliged." Arthur switches the target of his Darkness spell to Swordsman A from the Back Row, while Eleryian attacks Swordsman A from the Back Row.
