  1. I want to see an Expert Class suitable for Skrall that doesn't use weapons; instead its "hit" roll reads "SEISMIC TOSS-The target is thrown bodily across the room and takes damage equal to its level." ...actually, not a bad mechanic for an Expert Class...but who could offer it? *scribble scribble*
  2. Seeing Tarn walk away from Ella, Arthur hears his own name spoken and moves over next to the pair. "I shouldn't be surprised you knew I wanted to talk, and yet I am." He exhales heavily, wondering how to phrase his request. "I'd like to know--how can one tell the difference between dreams and visions? And...if my nightmares aren't just figments of my imagination going bump in the night, then how can I keep them from coming to pass? Or is it even possible to change the future, once you've seen a vision of it?"
  3. Scuba, you do realize that that hide is suitable for Guts and is way better than any other form of SP he's ever going to get?
  4. "I look forward to hearing it. I and my people have an...interesting history with Chaos." Sensing the conversation was over, Arthur takes a step back and glances toward Tarn and Ella, who were still chatting like old confidantes. Noticing that Pretzel seemed unoccupied, he wandered aft towards him and the captain. "Look at those two, thick as thieves. They've hardly stopped since we met up, have they? If we're not careful, next thing you know they'll be asking our friend the captain to officiate the wedding." He grins to indicate he was kidding. OOC: Daneeka's free for a Ji Pei vs. Bonaparte chat if Pretzel is interested. I'd still like to talk to Ella before we move on.
  5. OOC: I'd appreciate a chance to continue this conversation with Daneeka and maybe chat a bit with Ella as well--especially since I'm not in a good position to concentrate on battles this week--but if the others want to move on, I understand. If it does come to a battle, Arthur's in Rumble's hands, since I can't guarantee an action every 24 hours.
  6. Now I want to calculate mine. #17: 121 days 9 levels 0.074 Brickdoctor #31: 119 days 6 levels 0.050 Brickdoctor (with Zepher/JimButcher) #38: 40 days 2 levels 0.05 Zepher #51: 17 days 1 level 0.059 CallMePie #53: 99 days 3 levels 0.030 Zepher #66: 37 days 2 levels 0.054 Sandy #70: 39 days 3.3 levels 0.085 Endgame #77: 134 days 2.6 levels 0.0199 Brickdoctor #92 (ongoing): 40 days .6 levels 0.016 Zepher Average to current (including incomplete Quests): 0.037 levels per day (26.97 days per level) Also today is apparently my 800th day in Heroica.
  7. "The Guffington of Guffington Manor? I know the place well. Did you know it's built on a Spire of Chaos? I drained a fair bit of energy from it a year ago last Grogmas, while we were fighting rampaging Pongcanae and Chaos Beasts of Zoot." Arthur clenches and unclenches his left hand unconsciously, the conversation bringing back memories of that night.
  8. I'm pretty sure that Cement Mixer is an existing City set, no clue if it can actually be rebuilt as an assault ship though.
  9. That's what it's been ruled as in the past, at least for the Arena. I'd support it being defined that way for Heroes in the main FAQ as well.
  10. To be blunt, numerical Levels for mismatched Hero parties are the worst thing you can do. If you've got a serious level gap, conditional enemy levels (like the ??? and -- -Level enemies Kinto and Endgame are fond of using) are your best friend. Also, AoE enemy specials are right out--they're already a little unfair by one Hero's misfortune affecting everyone else on the team (well, not unfair, but not completely fair either--I don't think English has a word for it), but in a mismatched situation they're deadly, wiping out all the lower levels just because one high-level party member rolled Special Damage.
  11. Alternatively, we could create consumables similar to Trial Brew that grant bonus experience if the user fulfills specific conditions, and have them be level-locked so that they're used only on lower-level Heroes (i.e. "only works on Heroes under Level 15").
  12. Also, Alexander should still be favoring whatever he was favoring at the end of his last Quest (77, I think it was), which I believe is Humanoids (so his damage in the earlier Round should have been tripled).
  13. I, personally, would always give the lion's share of the loot to Heroes who get knocked out, especially if my party had somewhere close to 6 Phoenix Incenses that could have been thrown as a conditional action after the next-to-last enemy was down.
  14. Arthur shrugs. "The only Bonapartes I've known have been thoroughly dishonorable men and women, taking bribes and stealing from the Ji Pei for their own gain. I've not heard anything negative of the Ji Pei, aside from hypothetical fear of the future. My experience with the Hinckwells haven't been quite as bad, but there was a Hinckwell lad--Roderick was his name--who many years ago persuaded a young woman with much potential to take the first steps on a dark path--a path that later destroyed her. The fact that he later got himself possessed by a mad god and tried to kill me and my party didn't improve my opinion, either, nor did Heinrich's behavior when I met him at the Foundation Day ball. Lyren seems a decent sort, and I didn't get much of a read of his mother at all, but the rest of the family?" He shrugs again, his mouth drawn into a thin line. "Just because it's expected doesn't mean it's right." "As far as the book? I'm very interested in old, lost knowledge--sometimes to the point where it gets me in trouble, but that's curiosity for you I suppose. To tell the truth, though, my primary interest in this expedition was Princess Ella." He glances forward at the happy couple. "The Prophetess and the Warrior--if ever there were a modern-day incarnation of that pair it's those two. She sees the future, thanks to a connection to what they called the Spirit Pools in Dastan. I've had vivid night terrors myself, as long as I can remember, but I always chalked them up to just that--bad dreams. When I was told--in a vision, no less--that I might also have such a connection, I immediately thought back to the princess I'd once saved. I'm hoping at some point we'll get a chance to talk--even if briefly--about how I can tell if my dreams are the real thing or just imaginary specters. And how to interpret--if these visions are real, and really tell the future...well, on the surface, it looks pretty bleak. I'm really, really hoping they're wrong." "Speaking of employers, who exactly is yours? If you don't mind me asking."
  15. I'm giving up on Nostrums. My rolls are worse with them than they are without them.
  16. But that in itself requires a fairly long time in the Fields of Glory, or else going into substantial debt for mere experience--and if you are aiming for something like Dragoon, experience gain is more of a curse than a blessing (barring a couple of storylines I just can't resist like Endgame's finale or a Sandy Quest, I won't be going on ANY Quest that's not offering Shadeaux rep, simply because I don't want to hit 40 before I have my dragon). In fact, Endgame, consider that a request.
  17. You just have to be patient. Quests don't make themselves, and we can't just randomly create them overnight. Eventually, someone will come up with a Quest that offers Shadeaux reputation, and if you show the community that you can be mature, patient, and respectful, you might be picked for it. The key is to sit back, relax, and let things happen as they happen instead of trying to force the issue.
  18. Hmm...good question. At the moment, I think I'd probably run as the spirit sticks around until the Evoker is out of Ether or the spirit is dismissed, but I could also see it as the spirit being unable to attack until the Evoker is un-Sealed. I don't think I'd auto-dismiss the spirit, though--something just feels off about that.
  19. IIRC, the Collectible Series Minifigure of Lord Business has a dual-sided head with him smiling (I could be wrong, of course).
  20. EDIT: You know what, I'ma just redact that. Judicious caution and façade of decency and all. For the record, I am a horrible and twisted person with an absolutely filthy mind. I just pretend to be otherwise for the sake of not creeping everyone else the megablocks out.
  21. OOC: Not sure where Arthur brought up an anti-Ji Pei sentiment, so I'll assume Daneeka means "your" as in Heroica's/the party's. Arthur glances at Pretzel momentarily, then lowers his voice so the Bonaparte captain can't hear. "Well, not me personally--I'm all for progress, and against the...shadier practices I've known the Bonapartes to get involved in. But I've also learned--particularly since becoming a Mystic Knight--that diplomacy has nothing to do with presenting the truth in an attractive manner and everything to do with telling people what they want to hear. The Hinckwells, the Bonapartes--I despise the both of them, because they tell people they're looking out for them and doing what's best for them while simultaneously putting a knife in their back in the name of profit." The last word he nearly spits out, so heavy was his disgust. "The Ji Pei--they seek to innovate, to bring a new future to the common man, and the Shadeaux...well. I won't pretend they're sinless, but to me they boil down to a small but loving family, persecuted by the world, just trying to carve out a place for themselves where they can live in comfort and peace. I can respect that...not to mention that they've sided with Dragons, some of the wisest beings in the world. That they share such a close relationship speaks volumes in their favor, in my book anyway."
  22. The 3DS game isn't THAT great, but given my very limited 3DS library at the moment I'm OK with it. The Western Emmet figure was definitely worth it, though.
  23. Does anyone have (a scan of) the building instructions for the Toys-R-Us Emmet's Car build? I was delayed getting out of the house, figured I wouldn't be able to get the set but wasn't too fussed, figured there'd be spare copies of instruction sheets, and when I got to the store the completely unhelpful and unenthusiastic staff informed me they'd thrown away their extra instruction sheets already.
  24. I seriously hope that Endgame and Zepher's finales don't overlap... (or if they do, it's because they interconnect like Dastan/Baltarok).
