Heroica RPG - Quest#92: The Prophetess and the Warrior
Flipz replied to Zepher's topic in The Heroica Archive
"I'll finish off the Pog, I suggest the rest of you stand back if you want to take on 'Donny'. Master Sailor, my friend, I think you'd be best served keeping a lookout (doing nothing) to make sure no one sneaks up on us. Master Raider, if you could put me just before Andrew, that would be very helpful." Arthur casts Darkness at the Unarmed Pongcanis from the Front Row through Sir Roderick's Sword. -

"I'll give you one of my Grand Potions once we're through." Arthur winks. -

OOC: Zeph, did you roll for my Knight 1/6 chance to deflect the damage? Arthur repeats. "Master Knight, would you mind using a Potion on our friend the sailor?" -

Arthur casts Darkness at the Clown from the Front Row. "'Lo, Andrew. How's Bert been doing since I saw him last?" OOC: The trope you are looking for is "Casual Danger Dialogue". -
Too bad you guys don't have Arthur or Cinna or Nyx--could Healing Staff them to death, like the thing was intended for.

Arthur drinks a Mead from the Back Row. "Well, that was...unexpected. But welcome. Hail, friend sailor! Might I suggest you join Master Knight in attacking the Pongcanis?" -

"Master Paladin, if you could take 'Donny' from the back with your cross, you'll be completely impervious to him--or you could fight from the front and only be at risk of a few scratches. Master Raider, Master Knight, you and the Hinckwell should be able to handle the Pog with little risk. I'd prefer to go last as I target the clown, just in case you or the Hinckwell manage to strike him first." Arthur casts Darkness through Sir Roderick's Sword at Clown from the Back Row. If Clown is down, he will direct his strike to "Donny" instead. All enchants go to shield. OOC: The Unlucky Horseshoe and Spider Leg in Tarn's inventory are still listed as unsuitable even though he can use them just fine. -
And so now we can add "impersonating another Hero" to Arthur's long list of crimes.

"I...have. I don't like the way they run this city, I'd rather back the Shadeaux. That said, I'm not about to let a man die to these thugs. Hmm...don't use my name while we're here--call me Em. Hopefully if he decides to bestow his silly reputation on us, he'll give it to another Hero who could use it instead of me." -
I have to admit, I'm paying far too much attention to Valentine at the moment. I have literally no idea what's ahead for her, or how it might affect Arthur down the road (or maybe sooner, who knows?), and it excites me. Take your time with the Tidings stuff, Sandy--burnout is no fun at all, believe me.

"I'm starting to think these clowns aren't even Wolfgang. Far be it from me to help a Hinckwell, but..." Turning slightly away from the bandits so they couldn't see his left side, Arthur quietly pulls his sword a couple inches from its sheath, and looks questioningly towards Tarn and Pretzel. -

"What do you want from the Hinckwell, anyway? If you're after cash to feed the poor, there's easier ways to go about it; why bear the risks of a mugging?" -
D'oh! How'd I miss that?

Zeph, you can wear four Artifacts now, so you can equip Bluehood's hood now as well if you wanted to.

"Great...just what I needed. Representatives of two of my sworn enemies, in a fight with each other. Part of me wants to finish 'em both off." He pauses, considering how best to handle the situation. "Leave this to me, I think I can bluff them out of it," he whispers to the party. Arthur steps forward and speaks diplomatically. "You know, Five-Fingers, Donny and Violetta told me personally that Ulric was past the need for violence...on the night they died. But you know, things have changed since then--my opinion of the woman who killed them has changed, and who's to say mine of yours can't either? Go on. Prove you're better than this money-grubbing Hinckwell swine, and let him go. Otherwise, I fail to see the difference between you." Arthur sneers at the Hinckwell mercenary to emphasize his point. -
Now Endgame, that's no fair fight. Everyone knows that when fighting defensively your effective health goes up dramatically, but your ability to strategize or take the offensive goes out the window. Seriously, I've been working on finding just the perfect multiplier for like two months now. Although...I haven't considered...hmm... *scribble scribble* Arthur has a half-brother...!!

"Not personally, no...I might have heard the name once or twice. He was recruit, just before I left for R'klif. Constable Giselle's reaction seemed to be pretty standard though--I don't recall anything I heard being positive. That was more than half a year ago, though, so..." He shrugs. "You get all sorts in the Watch--granted, Patricia seems to do a better job of keeping out the lunatics than the Veterans do with us, but...well, who am I to complain?" Now that I think of it, could that be the real reason I was fired? "What about you? What was that about a mystery in the Marketplace? And you mentioned you'd been to Dastan as well--did you make that trip with a Sorcerer named De'kra, by any chance?" -
I see Arthur's been a bad influence on Byblos.

I keep forgetting I have it now--despite it being one of the driving reasons I switched to the class. I'm always thrilled to bits every time I get to use magic outside of battle--busting down the door in 66 gave me warm fuzzies, and I was really pleased to see the thing with the stuff in that one Quest in Baltarok (hooray for deliberate vagueness ).

Arthur nudges Tarn. "The Seventh, actually. Though I'm told my great-great-grandfather was an excellent salsa dancer, a talent that was not passed through the generations, sadly." Arthur grins widely. "You know damn well who I am," Arthur says jovially with a smirk. "Ex-Private Regulus, no longer reporting for duty. Anything interesting happen in the Hovels while I was gone?" he asks Diplomatically. -
I fully expect a LOST ripoff at some point.

OOC: no, that's a copy/paste error; you can use throwing weapons (Rogue) and spears (Barbarian). -

"The problem with fairy tales in my line of work is that either some lunatic tries to re-enact them by playing the role of the villain, or else it turns out they are true...terrifyingly true, in the worst possible way. That said...I haven't heard of this one. I don't suppose it's a heartwarming tale of a brave warrior who pledges to defend the prophetess from all evil amidst a backdrop of sunshine and rainbows, is it?" -

OOC: I already lent him mine. Rumble, I've got Scrolls and consumables, so if you need anything, just ask. While checking his gear and preparations, Arthur slots an Elixir into the Hollow Blade of his Duplovian Swift Halberd. "Master Tarn, other than using that horseshoe as your main weapon--trust me, it's worth it--my only other suggestion would be to equip that amulet of yours in place of your Counterstrike gloves, at least for the moment." -
I ran a few Rounds, and Endgame helped me out with some sets for my Quest. ;)
