Yeah, he should be feeling sorry for us Anyways, I've made a good start on mine, it should be right to post by the weekend. Just a question, are we allowed to have for arguements sake either of the vehicles from the 'Race for the Stolen Treasure' as part of our MOC? I know the rules don't state you can't, but since the vehicle isn't a MOC itself, I thought I better ask.

I need to get my thinking cap on...I was going to do something surrounding Atlantis, but it's not really very Indy-ish. I've got a fairly decent idea for a MOC, I just need to get into the nitty gritty of it all and also begin building. Going to be fun though that's for sure. *EDIT* Woo! Just remembered the idea I originally had, going to be a definant goer. Now I just need to pull apart my Sail Barge for the brown bricks

I had to recheck to see that wasn't a normal road too, great job there. It looks like it's connected by one of those 1X2 with a hole and 1X2 with the small pipe bit to interconnect, am I right? Looks fantastic though, one of those MOC's that could be underrated if you don't show attention to detail. Would love to see it with more riders and the mountain scene you mentioned

That looks fantastic Batbrick, really a beautiful piece of work. I love the outside of it, and the inside has been done really well to (I like the use of the tiles in it, and the trap isn't lame mate ) I am indeed very envious of this piece of art mate, and if you're entering this in the Indy comp...oh my!
-
Thanks for the review Batbrick, this gives a great little insight into the set. The Robin scuba jet looks so much better than is did in the preliminaries, and with a little modding like you said the Penguin Sub will rock too
-
Ah thanks for that, looks like I might have to go in as a 'reward' for surviving my uni exams lol
-
Which store did you find the set in Batbrick? I was very close to going into K-mart on my way home from Uni Friday to check for the new sets, I may have to scour town too at some point. Good to here they are finally here though

Henry: Junior where is your hat? Indy: Sir, my hat is the last article of clothing we should be worrying about Henry: It's not sir anymore....
-
Woah that lava fortress looks awesome! Hopefully it's not too expensive or exclusive, otherwise it shall be mine. The sub set is pretty cool too, really like the boat over the sub personally, but still sweet
-
Sweet contest idea, definently one I will have to enter if I can. Should see some great ideas too
-
Out of the Creator Houses, I'd have to go the Beach House (I have the Town house, but at the moment the beach house looks more fun) Of the larger sets, I'd have to go Green Grocer

Eurobricks Clone Wars Building Contest
Big T replied to Clonecommando007's topic in Watto's Junkyard
Wow what a contest, and even better, it's one I can convince myself that I have a shot at winning lol since it's a viginette and not 'build a ship' where those massive ones come into play lol. Thanks to the sponsors too! -
Hmm bugger looks like I'm only buying the Tent set from this series, can't really justify the other 3 at this stage (well at least until I've seen the movie thanks for letting us know though
-
Dwarf: And with every purchase of a Red Bike you get a free trumpet Troll: Do you have that bike in an extra large?
-
Ooh I like I like, looks like I might have to get my thinking cap on. Will probably only enter the Impulse and small set contests, but it gives me a good reason to get building again
-
Wow awesome job on this Phes. I think it looks great. Love the main banner/header
-
Oh gee I guess I'd have to call myself a red/guard man myself. I just love the look of the Imperial Flagship. So much nicer imo than the Clipper from what I've seen

IMPORTANT: The Mailing List - Newsletters and Bulletins
Big T replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
I would go with a monthly newsletter. That way you don't overcomplicate thins with what justifys a bulletin, and people can come to expect each newsletter. I'm guessing PDF would be the style of choice too, I think most people these days has it on their computers -
I think this would make an interesting poll actually. I think you best bet is to start by switching around. I wouldn't worry about what's easier to aquire, rather what you want. You'd be better waiting a little bit and getting what you want, rather than a lot of stuff which you like, but is not your first choice. I think Imperial Scouts has a good idea. Get a ship like the Imperial Flagship, and then buy some redcoats to go with it. That way you get your ship, and can begin to build an army. When you have a good army, perhaps buy another ship (either pirate, bluecoat or Armada) and then collect an army for them. That way you slowly get the best of both worlds. Since you have 12-15 men, you can probably go for a ship first, and then build up the army for that group, but ultimately it's what you'd rather have at your disposal

If Lego were cruel enough to tease us with just one more lego pirate set... then I'd love one more big pirate ship, one to perhaps eclipse the awesomeness of the BSB and SES. I do believe Lego could pull it off if they tried. I personally would like to see it used by one of millitary groups (could you imagine a massive Spanish Galleon....ooh yeah) The Pirate Island could be awesome if it was given a lot of time and effort, and I guess money too it as well. Perhaps have a clifface with secret caves only accessible by water, which leads to their treasue (a bit POTC I know) and if they really wanted to spoil us, a small ship akin to the Renegade Runner (Is that what it's called? The small one cannon pirate ship that isn't the Cross Bone Clipper) In saying that, if they released a new pirate series, I'd be happy with what they gave us, but if they could only release one, it'd be one of those two

Which would you buy - The Caribbean Clipper or Red Beard Runner?
Big T replied to Big T's topic in LEGO Pirates
I reckon it was the one I was watching. Did it come with a couple of extra pirate minifigs? If so I'm happy to hear even though my money had to go elsewhere, it went to a good home! I hate scouring ebay for lego pirate stuff, because half the stuff that comes up isn't lego. Especially those cheap Black Seas Barracuda wannabe ships... Although not buying one then may have paid off, because there are two Barracuda's on the Aussie ebay at the moment! Better check my wallet! And sweet! A poll made by little ol me getting on the front page? -
Ok, it's been a while since I've done some MOC's, and I figured I give Vignette's a go. I'm sure people have done similar ones before, but I'm happy with them. Oh and please excuse the green plates underneath, they're just to hold it all together as I didn't have any 8x8 plates. First Vig, A noble knight and the fair maiden forced up on the rocky outcrop to try and save her from a Skelly attack Another angle, showing off the greenery lol. Yeah it's not the maiden hair from the tower...which is really annoying as it was the selling point of that set for me. It'll turn up at some point. Final angle, not a lot to say about this one really, but gives you a good look at the rocky-ness and the knight I think Second Vig. A lonely old man with spear at the ready as a mighty beast leaps from the air to try and fill his belly Bird's eye view of it all. Note the skelly hand in his mouth. Hard to see but it's there Yeah I need to add some white water around where the beast is jumping out from, so I'll do that later. Hope you like them, they're good fun to make
-
^^^ A Vig is short for Viginette, which is a creation which is generally 8 studs wide and 8 studs long (there are variations) so therefore we're in a contest to build the best viginette. So you were right on the first guess. Just a Q to the others, is height restricted at all? Somebody posted this a couple of days ago which helped me out when I was planning to build some castle based ones (posting soon) http://vignettebricks.blogspot.com/2006/03...-vignettes.html Anyways, hmm an interesting contest indeed. Might have to take part in.

Which would you buy - The Caribbean Clipper or Red Beard Runner?
Big T replied to Big T's topic in LEGO Pirates
Actually the reason I had listed them was because they were the ONLY ships I could find for sale in Australia at the time, but as it turned out I had to use my funds for the life outside of Lego (always the case) and as such my dreams of owning a lego ship will have to wait a little. If you want to lock it, feel free, but it may still get some discussion out. Thanks for Phes for making it a poll to, and for everybody who were willing to help out me out. Admittedly I would prefer finding the Imperial Flagship or one of the other 'big two' in the BSB and SES, but they tend to be quite a price in Aus, or missing a lot pieces. I shall keep my eyes open though -
Hmm it seems Lego is releasing some very specific faction styles... Crownies: Good Royals Skelletons: Magic/undead Dwarves: Workers (the mine set) Trolls/Orcs: Barbarian Elves: Forestmen All seem to follow a somewhat specific styling. As said before the Troll/Orc faction are probably as Barbarian as we'll get, a lot of their sets are focussed on seige weaponry and movement, and the only Dwarves sets revolved around the mines. Since from that picture it suggests the Elvish faction will follow a Forestmen style, which will be great since I know a few people here were working on forest set-ups. Very promising idea. So I guess from here we can ask what we can expect as another faction. I still think we may see one more Human faction, possibly bad guys (even if the sets revolve around attacking Elves/Dwarves to avoid the Human v Human conflict in the sets) I'd like to see a harbour/coastal faction. This would be a great chance to appease not only castle fans, but also a few of the Pirate fans, by releasing some ships and a trade port. I think it's a big possibility with the two bad guy factions having Ships now, the good guys really need an ally (or perhaps it'll be based around the Crownies...dunno) who can match them at sea.
