I finally got my first Bat Set. Went to K-mart for their massive sale, and picked up the set with Harley Quinn. Does not dissapoint at all, and the Batcycle is a lot nicer than what I've seen in the pics...it's just so cool. Of course then I realise Myer are having a sale and they have the Town Plan, so I might borrow some cash and buy that while it's on sale.

Don't apologise mate! We don't have to reply straight away all the time! Didn't find the set yet, but I didn't think to look at the bottom, I mainly scanned through the middle area (where sets that size normally lurk) will have to check next time I can get in. Let me know how you go at the sale

Some nice mods there Batbrick, really like the Penguin sub mod now and also the Robin Speed Boat. Very cute

It makes sense, especially since I'm sure they'll want to capitalise on any post-Dark Knight hype (much in the same way I'm sure the Tumbler is meant to capitalise on the pre hype) to the point it almost wouldn't surprise me if they did one as an end of year exclusive as an Arkham sized set. The carnival would give the designers plenty of little options and tidbits to add onto it, and would catch both Batman and city fans (as I'm sure city fans would like to mod it for a regulation...non evil carnival) A bank is a must. Not only would it be a great way to re-release Two-Face, but they've built them before, so no new parts would really be needed, and at this point the Villans have nowhere to really strike other than Arkham and the Batcave (which it's really that profitable if you ask me, even though a black market Batmobile would sell for a bit) To Scyzoryk's post: I think a movie Joker would new a whole new hair to be properly accurate, as it's not really spikey so much as it is messy and grungy. It'd be interesting to see how they did it, as that figure might just be a little too dark for Lego (all things considering Heath's take on the Joker) but I too would love to have a Lego-ised Dark Knight Joker...
-
It can go on the ever increasing list of things to buy (many now Bat-related) then hopefully my wallet can take the abuse I really hope the next Joker we get (I think he'll become the main villan as far as lego reproduction) comes with a hat like the Batbrick mod one, I still have my fingers crossed for a Joker Carnival

Yes Brainbox it is really a gate, but it makes my point less impactful when you add that much truth to the recipie I'd probably get it if it wasn't so expensive to be honest
-
Haha yes... every time I think I'm free from buying Lego, another series drags me in. First it was Star Wars, now it's the combined forces of Indy and Batman haha. Yeah they are the two earlier sets I'm gunning for. The Batcave for $80 nice job. That looks like a cool set but I wouldn't have the room for it lol. I will keep my eyes peeled on Ebay though, and if I have the cash to buy them I shall. Are there really? I couldn't see any Batman sets when I went in there last, do you have to look through the front boxes a bit? Looks like I've got somewhere to go tomorrow haha. Thanks for the tip off lol, and hopefully the Batman/Joker set appears soon

Ah Batbrick...I'd hardly call that a hideout...it's a fence lol. But I know what you mean. I want a Riddler set to consist of Batman, Riddler, Tree and Pool Table, with the following riddle attatched. "What's green, brown and if it fell out of a tree, it'd kill you?" Sad I know, but how awesome would a small set like that be?

I think the only reason we didn't get any original trilogy sets in the new batch was because of the new movie, it's natural for them to capitalise on the marketing. I'm sure over the next batches we'll see both OT and KOTCS sets I think the only reason we didn't get any original trilogy sets in the new batch was because of the new movie, it's natural for them to capitalise on the marketing. Wow that set looks a lot nicer than I thought, thanks for the review Batbrick, very funny as expected. I presume that's a custom paint job on the Fedora for the Joker? That looks amazing, I might have to do that myself. I may have to cave in and buy this one ASWELL

Nothing says you can't still use the Ark idea. I'm sure you'd have a different take on it. Fountain of Youth...I do like the sound of that, and I love fancy fountain lego Hmm, might have to have a look at some pics of it, doesn't ring a bell (didn't really pay much attention to the Raiders bar one of the smaller sets) but thanks for the idea. Don't apologise for having a valid opinion mate.

Thanks for the kind words. I wasn't entirely sure of the Ark idea but I always liked how the Crusade/Ark movies were centered around Christian items, and I wanted to do that again and since a few were taken...I went with the Ark. Glad I converted on on the Ark idea haha. If you were willing to throw down a few bucks, you could probably pick one up as they came in a couple of castle sets that wern't overly popular (so you're not Pirate Ship like secondary sale prices). The ironic thing was I tore down an old Castle I had built on the set to build this, so the medieval thing is perhaps truer than you realised . Admittedly I would have liked to have thrown down a few more Nazi figures on the set but they were all the ones I had, so that would have led to the sparse use of figures, but glad to see it worked for you haha. I had contemplated building the Ark discovery instead of this using the baseplate, but I didn't want to tear down my Sail Barge lol. I doubt it'll beat your workmanship, but happy to see I'll win over a few hearts

Haha yeah I know what you mean, would be kinda cool to line up all your first half purchases and compare them with the eventual second halfers haha. I don't actually have any yet As a kid I loved Batman, but I've only really started getting back into it this year when I saw what Heath did with the Joker (I love the look personally) and as such have been trying to catch up on everything Batman. Started by getting a couple of comics (Batman: Secrets and the Killing Joke) and now I'm investigating what sets. As you've probably worked out by now I want to get the Joker, so the Tumbler was a no brainer, which is why I'm holding off getting the others at the moment. I'd like to get Arkham and if possible the Two Face/Batmobile set as my first buys. After reading the Killing Joke...I'd love to see some sort of Joker carnival set. May have to build my own one a little bit later down the track.

Good to hear Batbrick will be fixing it up then, I'd hate to see him get DQ'd because of that, because the piece itself is wonderful. Anyways, I've posted mine. Not nearly as daunting as Batbricks, but I like it (even if I never noticed the discolouration between the new and old grey until the photo's...my rooms too dark for that normally )

Indiana Jones and the the Search for Noah's Ark It's 1944, and as the tide of World War II begins to shift, Hitler and his Nazi's become increasingly desperate for a super weapon. After tales of the secret power of Noah's Ark come to light through ancient scripture kept out of the Bible in it's first inception, Hitler sends out his best men in search for the Ark. It is believed that anybody who can restore the Ark will have complete control over the sea, which was delivered by God to Noah and the Ark to ensure it's safety. With this in mind, Hitler wishes to use it to flood the lands of the allies, as well as destroy all non Axis navies, bringing every nation to the knees of Germany in fear of this newfound power. Indiana is sent to ensure that the Ark does not fall into the hands of the Nazi's, and in doing so he is taken through Germany, Russia and Turkey in the quest to find...and possibly destroy Noah's Ark. The Scene of the Film takes place late in the film. Indiana found Noah's Ark before the Nazi's but they followed him and while he managed to escape, they seized the Ark. The scene is situated at a German Checkpoint which goes into into the millitary base where the Ark is being rebuilt. Indiana decides that to get in he will hide inside one of the German Vehicles and get taken inside. Unfortunately for Indy...things don't go to plan... A view of the whole scene. As you can see here there is a machine gun nest (of sorts) as main protection. As well as an building and general overseeing area for guards. If you look, you should be able to see Indy peeking out of the truck. In front of the truck is a similar style of checkpoint as the Chase set from the first series with Snr, only more advanced...I think haha Better look at the nest and the boxes besides it. Felt it would be more appropriate to set something up like that A side view of the building, and a better look at the checkpoint bit itself. Hope you guys like it. And as for how it finishes, well I'll leave it up to your imagination, although I like to picture a massive fire which makes a climatic fight/action scene that little bit extra 'epic' as the Nazi's try to stop Indy as well as the fire destroying Noah's Ark

Glad to have helped. I'll probably be going in next Thursday to see if the have the Tumbler in, if they do I'll let you know.

I'd like to see some more buildings as well. Prerably some sort of bank or something that the rogues can go at, as well as perhaps a villan hideout. I'd like to see a Comish Gordon as well. Two Face needs another set since he's only had one. I'd say it's a shoe in since Dark Knight brings him into play.

Haha yes Batbrick and the mighty Mayan Temple of doomage. Didn't realise Sinner had removed the fig count as well. It looks fantastic Batty. Tasmania represent! . I've finished my build, I just have to take photos and get the plot written, so it should be up tomorrow or Friday. I'm pretty happy with it. It doesn't have the imposing look of Batbricks, but for me, it'll be a lot of fun to use outside of the contest too, which was a big factor for me.

Just an update (mainly for Batbrick, but it may apply to other Aussies) Myer had the Penguin sub and the Mr Freeze/Batman set. Toyworld had the Freeze/Batman set as well as the Harley truck. I was talking to one of the workers in Toyworld and she said the other two sets should either come in next week or the first week of July. Toyworld was stocking the two sets they had when I went in there. Freeze/Batman: $17.95 (thought it'd be up to $20) Harley/Batman: $49.95 Didn't buy any of them, because I'm guessing the Tumbler/Van will be $70 or $80, and I need the cash for that

Lego can be expensive, especially a licensed series like Batman, but the great equaliser is if you can't afford a set, you can just make your own! I'd love the Batcave myself, but again cash/money is an issue. I need to stock up on some Batsets actually... I'll probably be getting the Tumbler/Ice cream truck and resizing the Tumbler

It's so beautiful.... I am amazed at this set. Look at the figures? I didn't imagine half would be in there! Plus 4 stormies! (I know there are technically only two, but since the Han/Luke stormtrooper helmets are on the floor I presume you get them, so essentially four) and Grey Emperor! I thought they'd only include scenes from the original! I was sold from the first pic, and then I saw it had a back! I'm amazed! But the price What will I do? Such a perfect set, but if it's going to be so expensive in Aus, how can I afford it? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! *EDIT* I just noticed, in the trash compactor scene, one part is connected to the grey wall, but the other is sticking out. Does that mean it'll move in? Even better!

I enjoyed it a lot. Admittedly I was a bit put off at some of the events Indy survived and the Mutt becoming Tarzan, but as a whole the movie was enjoyable. Not as good as Raiders or Crusade, but definently third on the list (I didn't mind Doom, but it didn't fit in like the others have for me.

For your next set, I guess since you're still new to the Batman Lego world it all depends on what you're after exactly. If you're using Bricklink, then every villan is pretty much available at the tips of your fingers, so set quality is probably what you're after. I would sat the Two Face/Batman set would be a great start, as you get the Batmobile, as well as an extra henchman. If you can get the Bane/Riddler/Battank set cheap enough, that imo is a great scene set for displays, and again you'd get the extra Riddler torso if you wanted to go with the Henchmen ? torso's... But why limit yourself to Batman lego? Once you're in, you might as well take a deep plunge into the world of lego. There are some great city sets which you could use for display's, and plenty of other sets which you could utlilise for pieces and such (And we'll chant "One of us" lol) The good thing about Bricklink is you choose to browse the different heads available, and one might pop up that you really like and you could go from there (in regards to the Riddler henchmen issue). As for Mr Freeze, It might be a case of him going solo for now (sounds like you'll need to let your cash flow build up...and your girlfriend calm down ) and then maybe something else will show itself.

I think the reaction over the innacuracy is a bit excessive. I actually thought the tree in the River chase set was supposed to be the tree Marion used to go from the cliff to the river, and the outpost there was mainly to give the children something to play with since it'd be nigh on impossible from an economic standpoint to build the tree big and flexible enough. The temple would also be really hard to make accurate from a financial standpoint, because of all the expensive colour pieces that would have been needed for the aliens and the treasure room. Since they are made for kids, throwing in a few more traps here would help it sell better. The Jungle Cutter set is great I think. Sure the hidey spot isn't there, but it's great for parts, and as far as selling a set goes, it makes it look more interesting than perhaps even another car would have been. The Jungle Duel is inaccurate too, but for a $10 set, the tent is about as good as they could have done. It wouldn't sell as well it it was twice the cost and had a bigger brick built tent if you ask me. And there's always the next wave to be accurate.

Batbricks got quite a few listed, one that's in the Arkham set that Batbrick forgot to mention was Ivy, I'm thinking basically an array of brick built plant enemies (sorta in the same vein as the mini penguins with Penguin) could work well, as I think she worked alone or occaisonally with Harley (I think, I'm not a big Batman nut) It's a pity we didn't get a bit more 'Dark Knight' influence with the Tumbler set. I would have loved for the Joker henchman to have come with a clown face like the movie trailers show, although at least now it matches with the Batwing set I guess. As for Mr Freeze, I think the winter jackets could work great. Another alternative is perhaps the old Space Ice guys (sorry I can't remember the faction name) the torso's from that set might work well, especially with the oxygen tanks on their backs. I could see the Riddler henchmen in plain green torso's to be honest, as I think if all the henchmen had the ? torso then the Riddler wouldn't look like the leader as much as he'd blend in a little bit. I dunno though, I'd need to see a bunch together to make a final opinion.
