Thanks, Danim! Feel free to post your picture.

Thanks lightningtiger! I'm glad you like them. The design of the hooklift was designed by Psiaki, so I can't take the credit for that. ;) Thank you, Rick! My main part of the build was the cab, so I had fun with the striping and offsets. ;) I know what you mean, but I wasn't sure what else to do. Speaking of the back sections, do you have any ideas for more that I should build? Actually, I think many of the smaller-landscaping ones use hooklift-type systems, with bigger ones using the hoist system.

Hi everyone. It's been a busy few months lately, so I haven't been able to MOC as much as I would have liked. Fortunately, I do have these two MOCs to show you today. MAN Hooklift This was a collaborative build between myself and Psiaki using Skype to discuss the build. It is a hooklift truck based on one used by the Hannover Fire Department. From what I know, hooklift trucks seem to be very popular with European fire services, because of the ability to buy only truck, with many pods. We've built two pods: a mobile command centre, and a water rescue boat pod. The hooklift functions much like real ones. Ford Transit Also very popular in Europe, this type of vehicle (Ford Transit, Dodge/Mercedes/Freightliner Sprinter, Volkswagen Cargo, etc.) take up both the pick-up truck and van segments of the market. These vehicles serve many different uses, and can have a variety of different rear sections. I decided to make mine able to easily accept different rear sections. Sorry for the bad pictures. We've been having bad weather for the last few days. As always, you can view more on my Flickr. Thank you.

I have a few questions about the program. 1) In both Canada and the US, you get one point per dollar. Is it safe to assume that I could gain more points by buying sets in Canada and spending them in the US? 2) Living in Canada, would it matter if I were to register/get my card at a store in the US? 3) If I could not for #2, could I obtain a card at a store in the US and register it online? Thank you!

This was my second Brickworld, and it was amazing. I got to meet numerous Eurobricks members and other FOLs, and meet up with ones I've met in the past. All of the MOCs this year were amazing. From "Containment" to the Quantas Airbus; from Dave and Stacy's layout to Stash, Quarry, CopMike, ISC, Polish Guy and Norro's layout to Hinckley's great Fabuland layout (good job on pulling it off!), they were all awe-inspiring and jaw-dropping. Great job everybody! There are too many people to list who need to be thanked, but Adam and Bryan did a great job as usual, and all of the other coordinators clearly did their part too. Thank you all for making Brickworld 2010 an amazing event! There was only one?

So, did anyone else feel the earthquake?

There is also this group on flickr. It has some useful topics, and many members from around the world.

It works great on Opera Mini on my iPod Touch. Not so much for Safari.

Is this compatible with Mac computers? I didn't see it mentioned anywhere, though I did skim through it quickly. -
Set numbers are the same world-wide.

That sounds more like something Dragonator would do Another minor issue I've found is when I click the View New Content button from a profile or from my settings, it takes me to the new members tab. It's not a major issue, so there are probably bigger issues to get to first. I just wanted to bring it to your attention.

Good call . I think it'd get out of hand otherwise.

Thank you!

A few more things. 1) When you're looking at someone's profile, it adds 1 to their actual post count. 2) When viewing a profile, posting or in your settings, the 'View Active Content' button is not present.

I was at the TRU at Yonge and Eglinton in Toronto earlier this week, and they were stocking the shelves with new Kingdoms, Space Police, Racers, World Racers and other new sets. No mini-figs yet. Surprisingly, there was a LEGO Rep there stocking the shelves alongside the TRU Employee. That is the second or third time I've seen her there.

I can't say I like the majority of the changes. Much of the styling is so similar that it seems to blend together for me. Clearer lines between posts, and under usernames on the frontpage and at the bottom of topics would be nice to have back. As Big Cam mentioned, many tags are not showing up. I also feel that now signatures seem to be overpowering the actual posts, so I'm going to be turning them off. I do like the new features in the settings and profile areas, though, so that's good. I was reading through the new help topics, and noticed the rating thing. Is that for Staff or Fellows only? I can't seem to see where it is. EDIT: Two more things. 1) Having the member number directly above the post count is a bit confusing. Maybe try moving it back down below the date joined? 2) What happened to the quick editor tool? I know I found it useful.

Well, I'm bringing all of the MOCs I mentioned, but I just got an email saying they couldn't fit me onto the layout plan. Anyone up for sharing table space?
-
If they already have it, my guess is that it might be revealed at BrickWorld this weekend. They revealed the minifig-scale Death Star at BrickWorld '08.

Thank you both!

Hey again, everyone! Brickworld is coming right up! I'll be arriving Thursday evening/night; so I'll see and meet all of you then, or on Friday. I do have one favour to ask of anyone coming. If you wouldn't mind, could you lend me the following parts for the duration of the event? Red 1x6 tile x3 This tire x2 This tire x2 Thanks!
-
No they don't. There are many other ways for bricks to enter circulation. Take, for example, the red Darth Vader helmet. I believe there is a topic here about that.

What I say is in no way official, but here is how I look at things. Contests should just be inspiration for you to build; that's what LEGO is for anyway. You should build something that makes you proud. Honestly, I've seen some pretty bad MOCs entered into different contests over the years, but I see that the builder is proud with what they've done. That makes me smile inside because I realize that the real spirit of the contests are to foster community growth, and enrich our experience as a whole. And truthfully, they do a pretty damn good job at that. If prizes are involved, that's just a bonus. You shouldn't try to find every way possible to worm around the rules just to win. Build something new, and who knows, you might just surprise yourself and everybody else with the results

I might need to try that out this year. Too bad that you had to move the LEGOLand trip to Thursday, I'm only arriving Thursday night.
