  1. Yeah! Great WIP! IF this is the competition, I almost feel put out, doing something from the Napoleonic wars! Great Wip, blue background really brings it out! Dakar
  2. As Swiss Brick and LT said, roads can look great, or can be a burden to the overall look of the city. As for me, I tried to take a page from the Lego city commercial setup designers, and just used an interlacing pattern of plates and tiles in LBG. It turns out really nice, but, then again, I keep my city out 24/7. It's pretty peice intensive, so for a setup like yours, it might not be the best. Great aesthetic layout in the way you have it setup. Two more corner buildings, and you can make an entire square! Dakar
  3. Thanks LegoCrazy! Yeah, the base was a little to small and uninteresting. I've now increaseed it from 12x6 to 14x8. I'll try to get around to photographing it soon! Thanks Jack! Thanks Moctown. I love your architecture buildings too! Thanks!
  4. Great interior Jonothan, and welcome to EB! My favorite part would have to be the bottom floor. I drew out on brickpaper a while ago an interior for a cafe corner-esque modular building interior, gland this is basically what it looked like. My main suggestion would be to add another small table, and make the counter more prominent, probably some snot and a lighter colour. Great work with your photography, and nice setup of your town. Glad to see a new member on EB, especially in Town! Dakar
  5. Hello all you Architecture fans! I am glad to have a contest at EB I feel at home with. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't mind a new Kingdom's Joust set, or a couple of series 6 minifigs, but buildings are my real passion! The Arc de Triomphe is, according to Wikipedia, one of the most famous monuments in Paris. It stands in the centre of the Place Charles de Gaulle (originally named Place de l'Étoile), at the western end of the Champs-Élysées.The Arc de Triomphe (in English: "Triumphal Arch") honours those who fought and died for France in the French Revolutionary and the Napoleonic Wars, with the names of all French victories and generals inscribed on its inner and outer surfaces. Beneath its vault lies the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier from World War I. Type:Triumphal Arch Architectural Style:Neoclassicism Location:Place Charles de Gaulle (formerly Place de l'Étoile) Construction Started:15 August 1806 Inagurated:29 July 1836 Height:50 m (164 ft) Other Dimensions:Wide: 45 m (148 ft) Deep: 22 m (72 ft) This is one of the most well know architetural feats in Paris, along with the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre. Arch 1 by Dakar A, on Flickr Built in the Landmark style of the Lego architecture series. Only editing done to this picture was making the background soild black. I had a lot of fun in building this one! Since I have been studying French, and the Champs-Élysées comes up quite often, this was a good start for building ideas. I thought of doing the Eiffel tower, but that is TOO stereotypical of Paris, and I think of this even more when thinking about Paris. Arch 8 by Dakar A, on Flickr I originaly was building it in LBG, but I soon realised that I wouldn't have enoug parts in the right shapes and quantities. Heck, I barely had enough white 1x1 rounds! Arch 7 by Dakar A, on Flickr And what would an Architecture build be without a shoutout to the architect? So here's to Jean Chalgrin, Louis-Étienne Héricart de Thury, the mind behind the (original) design! Arch 6 by Dakar A, on Flickr This one has more daylight than artifical light, but upping the brightness almost made it too bright!Depending on your veiwing angle, the black base may or may not be eaisly visible! Arch 5 by Dakar A, on Flickr And finaly, a comparison shot. The domed section at the top seems to be a relatively new addition, as some shots didn't include it. But then again, this thing is pretty gigantic, so it might be hidden by the top line of the roofing. Thanks for veiws, comments, (and hopefully) votes. I hope all the other contestants enjoy this as much as I have, and good luck to all! Dakar
  6. Oh great... I have kept the boxes from all my modulars since the GE (only two boxes, though...), and this will be a bear to store. Oh well. Some day it'll probably be a cash cow (But I'd probably NEVER sell it!). It's a bric seperator, new edition. Like you said, it's really usefull for seperating peices. Most of the larger sets this year have come with the new one, but there's an older one that works really well too! Dakar
  7. As I said on Flickr, my favourite part is the knocked over trash can. I ALWAYS seem to knock them over when I'm adjusting my town layout! The colour blocking on this is great, and the visible minifigs give it a dash of flavour. Great work! Dakar
  8. For those who aren't dreaming about Lego and want to: Lucid dreaming On an unrelated note, I was once dreaming, and fell asleep and tried to dream, and I woke up. So apparently Inception isn't possible. Dakar
  9. I'll be hoping/praying for dark blue. That would look sooooooo good. Dakar
  10. Great job cimmdwic! I hadn't even considered someone moding the TH, especially 6 days after its release. But you beat my mind to the proverbial punch. Great job with this, as with all of your works. Now to only find the money for this type of a project! Dakar
  11. Great job with the reveiw, and great set! If I can't win one, then I'll have to buy one! Love all of that dark orange! Dakar
  12. Mmmm... One question though. How many Illinois Nazis has it run over? Nice Moc, great incorporation of the CMF plate. It's surprisingly versatile, am I right!? Blues on! Dakar
  13. Oddly, I find myself looking forward to the survey in March (?).I think I may have a disease ! That was short. Too short.. IT'S A TRAP! : Admiral Ackbar : . Dakar
  14. If you look here, and see who is doing the next Mafia game, you can send them a PM, and ask them to tell you when it is happening/reserve a spot. Hope I helped! Dakar
  15. Great work, Dr. Nigthmare! If this isn't the most unique based in real life MOC I've ever seen, I don't know what is. I love the orange/blue colour scheme, and the shaping on the tanks. The cone on the front is one of the first times ( I think) I've seen it done. Hope to see the model in physical form! Waste reclamation on! Dakar
  16. Nice rig! Hope to see the other pic's later. Mabye you could be the first to build the (all new!) F12 Berlinetta , and carry that! Brick on, Dakar
  17. Looks as though one of the blades on the prop on the right is broken. I like this creation, alasadir! I'm guessing it belongs to a small, coastal town's fleet? Nice little speedboat! Dakar

    My Hot Rod

Wow! Seeing your use in this and your motorcycle, I'd call you the king of dark bley cheese graters! Nice hot rod, although I'd make the (engine) block wider, and I agree with LT, It's just begging for a spolier. Good build! Dakar
  19. Woohoo! A contest I may have a chance of placing in! Sounds like fun. I wonder if there will be an avatar change? Dakar
  20. Wow! I've got to say that my favourite part is the arch made qwith the cheese slopes and headlight bricks! WOW! Good building overall, and nice, crisp, clean photography! Brick On! Dakar
  21. Sorry Hinck! I was just afraid that this would be like the last brickshelf outage. We all know how THAT went! Feel free to lock or delete this. Glad to know that I wasn't the only one! Dakar
  22. 1. Male 2. 3. Not sure the age. Probably 5, but surprising, because I rember getting it! It was set 6477, Fire fighter's lift truck. 4. My favourite theme is town. I like architecture (The actual thing, not the sets{But those are nice, too]), and the ability to make a tiny town! Plus, I've always loved cars and trucks. 5. I like Lego because of the ease of building, the fact that it is colourfull, and other reasons I myself don't know. I do have an overactive imagination, though! Dakar
  23. So, I was going onto Flickr a minute ago, to check it, and it said "connection refused". I have tried multiple other ways of looking at it, from my iPod, to google search, to private browsing, and the same error message has come up! Anyone else have this problem? Dakar
  24. Yeah! Good! I didn't want you as compitetion, seeing as you're TOO good! Yeah, I'm really hoping to win, since I really want that Town Hall! But I know why you're building these. You make one, and you just want to do more. I honestly really like this AND the hardware store! Dakar
