  1. Rest of the world subsidizing the US....nah that can't be right.
  2. My youngest daughter is counting down the days until her birthday in July when this excellent set will dock at our house. Keep em coming Lego.
  3. Just noticed the price of the Elrond set...that is going to fly off the shelves.
  4. Will be getting the Wizard battle for Saruman although another Gandalf isn't ideal. Fave set is def the Council of Elrond of which I will have to scrape together enough cash to get at least 2 maybe three and then do a full sized version of the Council scene with all of the characters present. I like the Cosair Ship. It has some great pieces and the Black Gate has Gandalf the White, but the Eagle is a disappointing size and would have liked some more orcs. Picky I know but seeing that both sets in Oz will be well over the $100 mark, I want as much bang for my buck as a result I will be giving the ship and the gate a miss unless I can get them cheap somehow.
  5. Will be getting plenty of the Ambush set and maybe a dragon set, the others are meh.
  6. Thanks gives an idea of what to expect. That small pack is going to be my new fave army builder.
  7. Anyone seen a picture of the smallest Castle set??
  8. 2nd that idea. Rivendel elves in armor fighting warg riders with Radagast and his bunnies! Awesome.
  9. Would still like to see Minas Tirith as a UCS. You might have to reduce the levels so you could get in the top level. Even then I don't know if people would be willing to shell out $400 for this sized set. AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Exactly how I think Lego should start running its Castle Theme as well. Too often they produce a set that really offers nothing to the theme and this way it offers the chance to make bigger sets. They have begun to do this with Jabba's Palace - Rancor Pit and the two Helm's Deep sets. Really think this would be a winner.
  10. Answer to the only minifig line is that is classified as an action figure and it steps on other brand lines...apparently I'm happy for the odd tree or rock or even a horse or warg as long as there are at least 4 minifigs in the box I will buy it like the Mayans just got the year wrong. BTW that is the most up to date ideas list I have seen LOTB! Please send that post haste to LEGO!! The LOTR trilogy has so many possibilities for sets that really if LEGO play their cards right it could be another 10+ year theme like Star Wars. Thought of another one that Disco86 put up on Flickr of the Fords of Bruinen for FOTR.
  11. They could make UCS of Minas Tirinth with assorted battle packs of Gondor, Rohan. Dead, Orcs, Uruks, Easterlings, Haradrim, Trolls of various descriptions, siege engines for both sides, Towers with trolls, armoured trolls, Grond, and then there's the Charge of the Rohirrim and the counter attack from the Harad and their Mumakil. Just in that one scene there is enough sets to last a couple of years. With the Hobbit would like to see a couple of sets to do justice to the Battle of the 5 Armies. Dwarf, elf, men of Dale and then orcs, wargs, eagles, bats, the mountain itself could be another UCS. Laketown and Smaug should be another or maybe a option for something that could come in a couple of sets. I just cannot see this line finishing in 2014/15 there is plenty to be milked out of this theme. This is something that has really surprised me about the LOTR/Hobbit line so far....the lack of battle packs for army building. Surely LEGO know that they would sell like absolute hot cakes and make them a packet. It borders on stupidity that they haven't done so yet. But what about the Helm's deep wall set? I hear you ask. Well even at $30 in the states and $49 here I can't class that as a set the average fan is going to be able to go out and buy lots of multiples. I bought 3, but that was over $100 AU via BL. Make battlepacks now please LEGO!
  12. Really excellent work Darwin. Working on my own mod at the moment thou I might now have to go back to the drawing board after seeing your build. Mine slides to the side of the Rancor set, will upload when finished. You have enthused me to get this done.
  13. Mentioned this last year that it wouldn't take much to change the brown dragon from Harry Potter into a Fell Beast. Hope we do see one at some stage. All for Gondorian Soldiers, Rangers etc. But would like to see some more Rohirrim first.
  14. Found pictures of the sets and not filled with any real enthusiasm. The castle will be a big no, but the dragon mountain set will be a goer as I would like to add to my one red dragon. The other four sets will tempt me depending on what sort of LOTR/Hobbit sets come out. The other sets are tempting, but I am a bit disappointed as the last few years of Kingdoms saw some wider ranging sets such as the windmill and barn and the market. Even the Joust gave me hope that while it might go away for a while it would come back bigger and better. Someone mentioned earlier about a CUUSOO project of modular castle sets which I think is a great idea and it looks like LEGO are starting to do something like this with Helm's Deep and Jabba's Palace having sets that you could add to. As purely a price value if you had a basic castle and then could add extra wall and tower sections or a forge, stable, etc it could be a winner. Some extra additions to the Market scene with some more houses and businesses could also be a way to go forward. Or maybe going the Forestman theme you could start with a basic hide out and add extra bits to make a full on outlaw central ala Robin Hood. If the sets were of a low to middle price bracket I think they would sell. Everyone is hoping for either Forestmen, Wolf Pack or Black Falcons...stop teasing us with collectable packs and give us the real deal.
  15. Has anyone done any modifications to the set yet? I've built the Rancor Pit first and looking to start the Palace tomorrow. I know both fit together, but I am looking to expand on this and was wondering if anyone had added any extras on as yet.
  16. Just finished the Rancor Pit and will build Jabba's Palace tomorrow...if it had only Max Rebo's band that would have been awesome. Will then be looking to mod it out and make the two levels a bit bigger.
  17. I'm sure it has already come up, but Robotech would be my dream theme after my two other dreams Star Wars and Lord of the Rings have come true...Lego make it three for three please.
  18. I am so hoping there is some form of elf BP in the next wave of the LOTR/Hobbit. Great work, especially liked Gil-galad.
  19. Got two Mirkwood sets before Christmas as I had to have the elves and the warrior dwarves. Decided not to get the Attack of the Wargs as it is far too expensive over here in Oz. Went through BL and got myself 6 grey Wargs and I will pick up the other figs at a later date. Have however put in an order for Bag End and also Weathertop which will allow me to get the whole of the Fellowship and start me off on the Hobbit mad bunch. Not sure if I will get any of the other Hobbit or LOTR sets and will wait to see what the next wave bringeth. Still looking to pick up a Helms Deep, but that will have to wait until mid year as I have blown all of my 6 month Lego budget...known as my holiday pay on Jabba's Palace and the Rancor, xwing and a tie defender. Its hard to choose when you love two lines.
  20. Just ordered Bag End on BL for half the price here, plus 3 other sets costing me just over the price of a Helm's Deep here in Australia. BL I love you.
  21. Just went to my local Lego store and they were trying to flog the Attack of the Wargs for $107.99 AU. Going to have to wait until after Christmas to get my fix of LOTR and The Hobbit. Hope there is another wave of LOTR early in the new year. Have to wait until the 26th of Dec to see the Hobbit here in Australia. What's the most times people have seen the film so far??
  22. Does anyone else think that Dwalin should have longer legs as he is the tallest of the dwarves?
  23. Got two Mirkwood Spiders coming hopefully this week! Mmmm elves, dwarves and spiders. Then its to Bag End.
  24. Cheers Slobey! Sorry all for grumblin about prices. Would love to get all the sets and was looking at multiples of the Warg Attack. All good now. Would an online grass root protest change the prices here?
