So we are saying to ship it to Australia it costs double the price for Attack of the Wargs?? 49.99 in US and 99.99 for Australia?? $40 dollars more for Bag end? $50 more for Goblin King? LEGO get your hand off it and stop price gouging us Aussies! Enough is enough. I refuse to buy for the Australian Lego site or any local stores at those sort of prices. The average Joe in the street has no idea how much they are being screwed over on all big sets not just The Hobbit. Just so frustratin.....sigh....end of rant.
-
Yep! Still holding out some hope that there might be another Lorien elf/ Rohirrim battle pack to supplement the wall and Helm's Deep itself. Could add a leather paldroned Legolas to that as well.
-
If we could have a polybag of a minifig from LOTR or the Hobbit what would it be and what would you like in it? My top 3 1. Dwarf from the iron hills with full kit, cape, axe, hammer with some rock background. 2. Gondorian Ranger with cape, hood and also a hair piece with a tree in background 3. Gondorian Soldier in full armour with shield, spear and sword, Maybe a bow and quiver as well.
-
No the elf guard. I can't believe LEGO have put out Gandalf in a polybag. For double the price buy him in his cart and get Frodo as well. Makes no sense at all.
-
Waiting for some of those multiples to become available for less than double their store value on Bricklink. Come on America, show a bit of compassion on the rest of the world who misses out....please.
-
Sure. I would suggest taking more off at the bottom end of the quiver as it allows his hairpiece to be more centred and also allows him to look to the left. Hopefully with this pollybag we are going to see some more different elves. Will need plenty for the Battle of Five Armies. http://www.flickr.com/photos/38829611@N07/

Thanks. The quiver. Had to put it on an old torso piece to keep it steady and do it really slowly making cuts into the quiver then slowly chiselling it out.
-
The thing that is bugging me with the elves coming out is no cloaks and due to their long flowing locks no allowance for a quiver on their backs. I remedied this with the Legolas I have and some careful trimming with a hobby knife and an Eomer cloak. Think they could have produced a work around, but really the mod is fairly simple to do and with my poor skills managed first go with cutting anything off. For army building it looks a bit stupid if they all don't have quivers. http://www.flickr.com/photos/38829611@N07/8211270494/in/photostream

Says they are then when you actually go to pay it says it doesn't. False advertising TRU!!! Damn you getting my hopes up.

Looks like a great poly. Would love to see some down under, but I guess I will have to rely on my US brickbrothers and sisters to flood BL with some reasonably priced sets...lego budget is stretching to bursting point

Any sign of Hobbit sets in Oz?? Prices?

Still don't know how I feel about this. HAS to be a good story, but with so much EU out there picking out something that nobody has read or seen in games or comics is going to be a very hard task. There is so much rich lore since Zahn wrote the Thrawn trilogy. If there was three movies I would go to see it would be those. Tweak them around the edges, but there is plenty of great action and intrigue. New actors would have to be cast you would think. The fan outcry would be enormous if there was no Solo or Skywalker in the new movies. Only positive...more SW Lego and that can't be a bad thing.

Wish they did polybags with papers here in Oz

Wargs, Spiders, Barrels, Bagend.............................Goblin Town..............................................Riddles. Lego is keeping the bar high for the most part with this new wave. Would have rather had a brown Warg like deskp has so excellently done and the grey one. Then have the white one in a later wave. It doesn't really lend itself to Warg cavalry building and I wish LEGO would make more substantial branches for its trees, cause apart from the new leaf colour that tree is just plain awful. Still not over no eagle in the set.... The Spiders pack however looks really good. Fili Kili . I still wish that LEGO could have somehow moulded Legolas' hair piece so that you could still fit a quiver of arrows over his shoulder. Working on a mod to get both it and dark green capes onto both of the elves. Love the spiders and the red tree leaves get a big tick. As Derfel stated the price for genuine red leaves is going to be huge. Love the mushrooms as well. Barrels....new elves!!! Torsos, legs, two different shades of brown, elf swords, axes, two dwarves, the glasses and bottles not a bad set at all...interested in the price for Oz thou. Bagend is awesome and can be tricked out to make an even better MOC. Great figs and lots of misc pieces that will be great down the track. Goblin Town is this waves Moria. Hope it is around the same price. Some good building pieces, don't think I will be keeping built as a set for long. Riddles to me is a real meh set. Two characters that most will get one of and that's it. Get some rock pieces and another One Ring and Sting. Got most of these with Shelob. On the whole 13 dwarves...I love each of their torsos...still wish they had moveable short legs....build a bridge...and on the whole their faces and hair pieces are pretty close. Faves are Fili, Nori and Bofur. Will be able to make a really good faction of fleshie dwarves to go with my reg faction of dwarves. Order of purchases mapped out...still need Weathertop to complete my Fellowship and a Helms Deep as well....sigh....Lego account looking very empty at the mo...time to think about that kidney to India again..

Really hoping this happens as long as the Warg can pose in a similar way as horse 2.0. Really hope it is just mounted horse and foot soldier and mounted warg and foot orc. Nothing else to keep price down as it would be a super army builder. Yes we need more Rohan guys with different face and helm or coif. Would love to see a longer spear similar to the long lance spears of the movie. Maybe one with a blonde beard. A double of Wargs and Horses would be the ultimate builder pack, but would be too expensive to buy more than 5. With a glut of wargs though the price on BL would be ok.

My expectations are fairly high for the new Hobbit sets coming out. From what we have seen so far LEGO is willing to go new moulds, add details, design a new horse and add printing to minifigs unlike any we've seen on a fantasy scale so far. The price points have been a big high for sales outside the US, but all the sets offer good playability with plenty of scope to add to or use pieces in General castle/fantasy building. There is enough material across the 3 LOTR extended editions and three Hobbit movies to keep this line going for a good 10 years. While as you rightly stated that the Hobbit was written for children there is enough material in what was not written about in the Hobbit to give us some ripping sets. The whole Goblin - Dwarf war of genocide is one that might get a set or two, especially if mentioned in some sort of flashback in the first movie. What interests me the most is whether LEGO will do justice to Wargs and Eagles as getting them right now will be important for a couple years time with the Battle of Five Armies...now that would be a set!

First two things I thought when I read PJ post on Facebook was 1. Oh Yeah! More Middle Earth! 2. Oh Yeah! More Lego sets!
-
As long as the Warg is pose-able like the new horse and have a part for a saddle and that would be sweet. Can do one of my favourite scenes from the TT the Warg rider battle.
-
This has been evident in the type of sets we have been getting for the past couple of years. Think it really started with the Castle Market Place set, so much detail and this has continued with some of the Star Wars sets and now the Hobbit and LOTR sets. I'm sure the people at LEGO would be on the net looking at the type of sets and designs that the fans have been making. Its just awesome and it is going to cost me plenty.
-
Had them in my top 10 could squeeze them into a top 5.
-
Awesome as I knew they would be!!!! Just wish, wish, wish, LEGO could come up with some movable mini legs. That would make the Dwarves the must have figs of the year.
-
The Battle of Helms Deep had about a dozen Royal guards that had come with the King so you can use them that way. I am hoping there will be a Rohan battlepack with some extra warriors although it would be easy enough to mix and match some extra troops from various other cheaper sources.
-
Thanks White Fang a great review and pictures! This is the one set that I must have multiples of for many reasons...the horse, the fantastic detail of the Rohirrim, the brick detail in the wall, the Uruk-hai and their weapons. $48 here in Oz on sale so will only be buying 2 from the local stores the rest of Bricklink. From memory the stream coming out of the Deepling Wall was around 3/4 of the way along so I think 5 sections would be needed to add to the Helm's Deep set which I also hope to pick up in a few weeks. Been saving feverishly for these sets. Can't wait.

Parity with the USD, but $10-$50 more expensive per set. Lego stop ripping your loyal Australian customers off.
