  1. For you? $500 No firm decision yet but they should be comparable to the previous models.
  2. Cool idea! Unfortunately it only works for clear stickers and those seem to last reasonably well. To do stickers on a white background you either need a vinyl printer or one that prints white.
  3. The only way to avoid it is to completely stay out of the light. Perhaps take up vampirism. There's a topic about stickers. Note that my models are all in a climate controlled room with UV blocking window coverings and the stickers still disintegrated. The old clear stickers are OK, it is the white vinyl stickers that are trouble.
  4. Typically a metal needs to be at a high load and at an elevated temperature to creep. Helical compression springs are in torsion and will never creep at any load you can apply (the actuator bottoms out before the load is big enough to be relevant). Even at solid height those springs wouldn't creep. So you should be OK to display them indefinitely.
  5. While those mini supercars are awesome, and while they are meant to look like real Technic supercars, the mini models themselves are not Technic models. There are no Technic parts in them.
  6. No; I'm allergic to dust (not a joke). My LEGO room is low traffic so it doesn't get a huge amount of dust, but some of them look pretty grim. I've been trying to convince my wife to dust them, but to no avail. I need an intern.
  7. ?????? Not sure where you get that statement. The motor tries to run at constant at rpm and draws more current as a function of load, but it certainly slows down as a function of load as well. It is easily demonstrated. There is a such thing as stall torque after all, and the path to stall is a ramp function.
  8. Yes, various. There was a link on MOC Plans to the Brickstore file housed on my Bricksafe account, but the link disappeared. You can find the file here. The model has also been submitted to Rebrickable, but I think has not been reviewed yet.
  9. Here is a low res sample page.
  10. I have had hundreds of models on display for a decade, and I've never had any problem other than UV discoloration or dust.
  11. So do I. One excellent way to encourage Sheepo to make more instructions is to make sure to by his existing instructions. Instruction making is a huge amount of work, so it makes sense to show him we appreciate it if we want more!
  12. This has been debated/discussed/argued ad naseum in many topics already. I recommend looking there before filling up another topic with the same stuff. Short answer, different people prefer different solutions for different reasons.
  13. Yes, the instructions are now available at MOC Plans.
  14. Ouch! Are the motion and focal blur more or less "automatic"? They look great. I can see you doing a rack focus change in a couple of places on the 8860 video.
  15. Thanks for the information! I only have access to POV-Ray so it is very interesting to hear what else is out there for commercial use. Did you start by converting the parts from the LDraw library or were the parts actually modeled in 3DS? Even more than the particle assembly, I was impressed with the kinematics. For example, the wheels spin and do a "burnout", the steering turns, and the suspension compresses even though there are no such features in the model. Motion is very smooth and obviously accelerates with a ramp function, maybe even a sine wave. All of these details take time and thought and make it look real.
  16. The instructions for the above referenced Eagle Weslake are now available at MOC Plans. Enjoy!
  17. Can't argue with that. Technic gold.
  18. That is a plausible explanation. They are overstocked on store shelves and don't want to clear it out at a discount. That would explain why it is only in the USA.
  19. No, I don't see why instructions would be a requirement. However, instructions make the model more accessible to more people, so it helps.
  20. If they are running low on capacity for the USA, then the least they could do is a send a copy of each to my house.
  21. Welcome to the forum and thanks for joining this topic. As you've heard, we're all very impressed with the video. Can you share on details on what software you used or what methods you employed for those of use who are into such things?
  22. One could way to help predict if something might end up in the Hall of Fame is to ask yourself, "Is this model currently sitting on Blakbird's shelf?". By this criteria, the models you have suggested have an excellent chance.
  23. WTF? I've never heard of this happening before. How could it possibly take 8 months longer to get the sets to the USA than the rest of the world? Something is afoot. The second half sets will be available by then.
  24. We've already got a topic about this MOC. Merging....
