LEGO Star Wars 2021 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

I think the prequels have always had two things going for them. The story is interesting conceptually even if the execution of that story was less than stellar. I think a lot of fans are able to see what was intended over what was actually put forth if you get what i mean. Secondly, I don't think anyone can say the ship design's in the prequels aren't unique and interesting. Since we are buying sets that are easily 75% vehicles that really adds to what we as lego fans get out of the PT. I'm not a sequel basher by any means, but how many unique and interesting ships were in that trilogy, Bomber, Quad jumper, kylo's Shuttle, Ski Speeder, Silencer and maybe a few more. The AT-Te may be hinting at the AT-AT but they are definitely their own things. -

The only prominent character that is exclusive to a UCS Vehicle is Piet, other than that, you've got R2-BHD, Will Scotian, and the Four-Square Imperial? Everything else is a variant or more detailed version of something available in other ways. Cody wasn't coming in this set, and lego has a very long track record that backs that up. (Obviously I'm ignoring anything that retroactively aligns more with the MBS like the 2008 Death Star, and I feel the Sandcrawler is its own special little thing) Edit: I feel like i'm being very absolute in this comment. What I should says is every piece of previous UCS content that represents a Vehicle points to A. No super desirable exclusive figs and B. no figs needing new molds (a rule the MBS is beginning to break to be sure). Lego may well break this trend one day, but it seems like a lot of people are expecting it when the evidence says otherwise. -

To me that vote was always between 1 ship I'd love to see again in minifig scale (Gunship), 1 ship I reeeeaaallllly want again at minifig scale (TIE Bomber), and 1 ship that can really only be done justice as a UCS (Nebulon, and yeah I have the Exclusive one from last year which is nice but it's small.) I remain hopeful that the other two models not winning the vote does not exclude the possibility that they will get made one day. -

Limited color palette aside, odd color choice is typical for TLG. They actually reversed the colors of Aragorn's robes and vest back in 2012. Orange, Yellow, and flame-orange have been very interchangeable figure to figure. the CW and RotC 212th troopers came out within a year of each-other and were different colors even though part from style they represented the same troopers. -

While I agree that he's immature and entitled, that sort of entitlement is rife in the social media culture these days, It's everywhere. Everything is hyperbole, and every company is evil for not delivering exactly what fans wanted. Like why was there so much animosity about when lego reveals the set? Does anyone care now exactly what date the Cantina was revealed? No, Will anyone care next year about when or how the Gunship was revealed? No. People are just impatient backseat drivers. -

I like the Geonosis dirt on Mace. I'm always itching for more unique figure variants, I hope that if we get an arena or other Battle of Geonosis sets soon the other characters get the same dirt. -

Agree 100%. I'm definitely a person who wants to see more prequel UCS, but I knew from the time of voting that the gunship would be in a weird spot for UCS scale. There are only a handful of ships that fit the 120-160 dollar mark at minifig scale and the gunship is one such ship. I wanted the Nebulon frigate myself, but would prefer if they tried doing one of the Republic or CIS Capital ships as a UCS. (I do think the gunship is a good choice as far as recognizable and interesting prequel ship design, as far as selling the product goes) That said the Ship is very well done from what I can see, but I own the 2013 Gunship and its a very solid build that holds up, so I'll save my money on this one. Got $800 AT-ATs to buy. -

So I think those Turrets are two of the larger dome pieces with a 1 stud thick build around the equator. Not what was expecting but I think it works. I can't tell if there is a reflection on that Mace fig or if I'm seeing teeth, Be nice if he has an exclusive head. -
As someone who often has too much work on my desk and must build sets on a bed, the lego hardcover books are the perfect building surface, my Magical Treasury Book has all kinds of imprints from building Diagon Ally on it.

Forge looks good, I'm glad to see the blue flame pieces in another set. I can't believe that the piece has been out for 3 years and has only appeared in blue in 1 expensive set, It's perfect for welding arcs/ forge flames! @Clone_Opatra I'm conjecturing here, but I'll bet having multiple sets available at the same time from The Mandalorian effectively provides the "conflict" as opposed to the BB shuttle that has the speeders because no other BB sets are out. -

With human skin tones lego has used White, Lt Nougat, Nougat, Med Nougat, Reddish Brown, and Tan. White is basically only relevant to Vader's "never seen the sunlight head, and Tan only works well for something like Palpatine or Mouth of Sauron where the skin is supposed to look sickly. Without delving too far into race here I think actors/ characters of Asian descent have been the most inaccurately portrayed, Commander Sato, and Cho Chang are pretty bad attempts. But I do think Med Nougat (the color used for Panaka) is underutilized for characters like Moff Gideon, played by a multiracial actor. -

To lend credence to the fact that TLG is naming things more in a six degrees from Kevin Bacon way where the set should have something immediately recognizable in the name, look at the name of the Fawkes set from the HP line. 0 potential for controversy if the set was just called "Fawkes" but it is called "Fawkes, Dumbledore's Phoenix" they are definitely making attempts to put the recognizable character names into set names. -

Now that I've seen the build process of the Trexler I'm pretty impressed that they fit space for a driver, the "cargo bay/ deployment area", two passengers, two side storage compartments, and the gunner in a 40$ set. It's not perfect but the utility beats the NightBuzzard by a landslide and it's 30$ less expensive. I like the look of this better than Gideon's Light Cruiser if I'm being honest. -

Dang, I was holding a shred of hope that Fennic would have her ponytail attached to the helmet mold. Definitely still a spectacularly printed fig, but its not like hair/ helmet combos are out of lego's wheelhouse, especially if they are going through with making the new mold anyway. -

It is a shame that lego can't make quality figs like they used to though. -

This exactly, I'm not going to say lego could or could not do more if they wanted, but seriously comments recently are getting soo nitpicky about whats missing and what's not perfect. We are getting a lot this wave, Gar Saxon is beautiful, and many of the prints and molds are amazing! I was in my 20s before lego released a TIE fighter that wasn't bright blue so the grumbles about the sand blue seems silly to me, when you own nearly every star wars set some sand blue is lovely amid the see of LDB. If all 5 bad batch members weren't in one set and spread out there would be nothing but complaints about that. I'm just happy to see all the main characters of a show making it into the first run of sets, (accept i guess Omega). -

I've also noticed far less sets over $100 going on sale then I used to, but I also see less of the larger sets in stock so maybe the retail stores aren't buying as many as they used to. $40 - $80 if its not a store exclusive you are almost guaranteed to see that 20% off somewhere. -
I don't believe this rumor, One because I don't think there is any demand for a Queer Eye apartment set (maybe I'm wrong in thinking that), but also because they just did the Friends apartment and the Seinfeld Apartment is supposed to be coming out in a few months. I know the crossover of those who would be interested in all these sets is not 100%, but seriously 3 adult-oriented lego apartments in 1 year? I have zero evidence to back this up but I'd bet money that the "rumor" is some idiot being a troll spurred on by the unnecessary controversy surrounding this set. Considering that every third post in "the usual place for leaks" is a blurry picture of a set and a caption that reads like an eight year old who just learned how to be ironic, "The UCS AT AT won't include real snow, etc..." my moneys on Troll. That being said I'm prepared to eat my words if the QE Apartment is a real upcoming set.

I’ve been assuming that they’ll use the gyro spheres from Jurassic world, although I’m not 100% sure how they’d scale. -
I haven’t seen this mentioned before, but in the Fluffy set there are floating candles built with flame pieces in upside down white stud-with-hole pieces. Either they modified the mold of the stud with hole slightly or they have a production error with the piece. It will not hold the flame pieces what-so-ever, they are 100% unattached. The hole in the piece usually has four extremely subtle nubs to grip better, the new ones did not. I definitely built the set right because when I grabbed older studs from my collection they worked just fine. I’m curious if this was a production error or new design oversight. I have bins full of the spare parts from sets so I’m not worried, but if a kid got this they may have no suitable replacements. And I can’t stress enough, there’s loose, then there’s unattached. anyone else have this issue?

After COS, hogsmeade, chess, fluffy, and 2x poly juice im 12/16 on the frog cards. Not great, but not awful. No individual set contained a double, so either I got lucky or they’ve slightly adjusted this. also newt and lockhart are very similar so I didn’t realize I even had newt until closer inspection.

I think it comes down to the fact that the serial nature of TCW can't often compete with the tighter storyline of Rebels. The best CW arcs were the ones that had 3 or more episodes. I like all of it, but I'm definitely in the CW < BB < Rebels camp. I did forget one animated show, its down here Resistance < season 8 of GOT < stepping on a Lego brick. -
I got a CoS with no duplicates in it. The early review youtubers all seemed to be getting triples in that set. so far between the CoS and the Chess Set I only have one duplicate for a total of 8 unique! Half way there! Hogsmeade, Fluffy, and 2x Polyjuice Mistake come tomorrow so thats another 10 possibles, very unlikely to get all 16. I think Fawkes should definitely have come with some, the buildable figs not having them is fine, they're sort of their on thing. Also, I felt amused when i got Salazar Slytherin in the same bag as the Basalisk.
