  1. Sometimes I feel like the only person who genuinely likes all lego Star Wars equally when it gives us new, innovative or interesting builds. I’d jump at a nebulon, I’d jump at a venator, I’d jump for anything that included the crimson Corsair guy.
  2. I think there are a few niche options, medical gown Luke, any Padme that only requires a torso. Etc..
  3. As was mentioned above, even if he isn’t doing it as a secret message of which sets are coming, it is simply beneficial to have new videos of the older versions of upcoming sets to get views from people looking to see what lego did before on those subjects. He know how to use the YouTube algorithm to make that cheddar.
  4. He goes over the new / recolored pieces at the end. It appears the set only has one, but I can see it being used if sets are made for the Ashoka show.
  5. I was just watching a review of the Mario ? Block set. it includes after 22 years the first trans clear lightsaber bar!!!!!! We finally have the piece in rotation for Ahsoka!! Hopefully it will soon be in cheaper sets.
  6. Adding to those points, SW is also rather limited in significant vehicles bigger than a speeder bike but smaller than an x-wing. Prices point exist, and the options at 20-30$ vehicles in the OT are snowspeeder, landspeeder, a-wing,… cloud car?, sky hopper?. PT has a few more options at that size but not a lot more. ST has a couple. 22 years of wanting to have cheaper “iconic” vehicles on the market will kind of dictate what gets remade. Even down sizing the TIE brought it to 40$
  7. It can be both a meme and a desired set for many. Much like the A-wing the design of the landspeeder comes from Lucas' love of sports cars, albeit Luke's specific Landspeeder is old and beat-up. It is a slick car-like design and clearly cars are extremely popular 100-200$ lego models. It's not what I want to see for UCS sets, but it's far removed from being a "hill to die on".
  8. There have been 6 playscale Luke's Landspeeders, 4 stand alone, and 9 playscale ETA Jedi Interceptors, 6 stand alone. I'm actually impressed as the landspeeder seems over produced but 4 standalone landspeeders in 22 years is not too many,
  9. More like Farmboy Luke, R2-D2, and C-3PO! I know you were making a joke, but Aunt Beru is actually a highly desired figure. Many would be enthusiastic about her being in a $15 set.
  10. If this is real the only thing that would actually interest me would be a premium C-3PO with duel molded leg (whichever one has the silver), and arm / side leg printing akin to the polybag for ep VII. 2-3 years ago I would have expected this, but the A-wing Pilot and Clone Commander are showing a trend away from that UCS extra detailing.
  11. I'm actually surprised TLG hasn't better capitalized on sets where a handful of bricks could make the set a 2 in one, they've mostly reserved that for the X-wings and tthey did it for the UCS Falcon, but there are many time they could have, Tantive comes to mind. I like you idea for multiple clone colorations. I'd buy all three of these sets but if one is cancelled its safe to say its not Mando. Luke's helmet is the final iconic helmet from the OT that would transfer well / easily to the helmet collection. I'd love to see PT and even Kylo Ren, but as far as OT iconic helmets I feel like Luke (Rebel Pilot), Snowtrooper, and Imperial Guard are the most obvious and the latter two would be tough designs imo.
  12. While i wholeheartedly agree the the Falcon is better and is vastly more interesting to build, I'd have to give a hard disagree on saying the Star Destroyer looks 10 years older or a low effort bdesign. Other than tiling the whole thing off and maybe the engines I don't see where the design lacks. I know many, including myself would have linked a panel or two that could be removed to show interior detail, but I can'r fault the design of what we got for things it never promised to include. To me the reason it isn't as interesting to build is mostly due to the in-universe ship being a single colored triangle, imposing as it is. The Falcon inherently has more variation, color and detail in its in universe design. All that said I would be genuinely interested in what aspects make it seem like 10+ year old set to you.
  13. I'm really hoping that the legs are built first to get that tedium out of the way!
  14. The Star Destroyer is a fantastic finished model and there are many impressive techniques used in its construction. There is a lot of repetition due to the in-universe design of the ship. I own a lot of large sets across themes, and frankly the building process is not as exciting as a Modular, Hogwarts / Diagon Ally, or the larger Ideas / Creator sets. I also enjoyed the UCS Falcon building process more. All that said, it comes down to whether you care more about the build process or the display. As you pointed out, for the cost of this set you could have multiple alternatives.
  15. I think the set is very nice, it’s small but well designed other than the non-locking hatch. Also 5 brand new figs, 2 new molds, 5 unique face prints, the hair being included where relevant, to me these elements make the price worth it more than the inclusion of the speeders ( though the green one is cool)
  16. I hadn't seen that news about Horatio Sanz. Fantastic ...
  17. Not sure if it’s been brought up, but there are at least two typos in the icons sets, I’m not an expert on how many hands the design work of prints and stickers go through but this happens laughably often with d2c and ucs sets. How much time could it possibly take to do a quality check on these things.
  18. As in the sets that came out this month? That's bananas! I find that a bit hard to believe, even a full year seems short. edit: I just went to the site, the summer sets say Dec, 2022. 1.5 years has been the generally accepted shelf life for a while on most non-UCS sets.
  19. Yeah, the repetition of those three packs was what i was trying to point to. Composition of the figures is a consistent issue in BPs but I can't think of any other time where that many packs felt as "samey'.
  20. Agreed, do all Jedi, Bounty Hunters, or Cantina Patrons, or do all generic troopers / mass-able specialists from a single faction. It's been my observation that most trooper based BPs sold well until maybe a year after their release. I do think lego did a few too many First Order BPs and that those warmed shelves after the third iteration in like 5 years, possibly making it seem like the desire for BPs was dead. Never saw the Solo or Rogue One BPs warming shelves though, only recently do I see the Mando BP consistently in stock.
  21. Not trying to wish list here, but if they follow up the Mando Fighter and Duel set with a Battlepack that has two nameless mandos from each faction then lego will have done what I've always thought would be the best money making strategy for regular sets / BPs. Put nothing but grunts in the battlepacks and then release alongside sets that contain the Officers / Leaders / named characters related to the BPs theme. More multiple BPs sold and more incentive to buy a larger set. 2014 did this well in my opinion, and most waves that released with a new movie did this as well, but I don't think TLG ever used this strategy to its full potential.
  22. Yeah, I used to enjoy his compare all the versions of a ship videos, but videos with thumb nails and titles like that assured I will stick to other youtubers for reviews from now on. Too be fair I'm that way with any youtuber/ blogger/ influencer that reviews anything, movies, comics etc, give me the pros, the cons, and calm well thought out criticisms/ analysis of what doesn't work for you. (I'll also point out i did not watch that particular video, maybe its a calm well thought out critique of legos handling this situation that doesn't make sweeping assumptions about TLG designers and marketing team, but if I was a betting man) In more relevant news, I built the Mando shuttle today. I love it, and the figs are pure chef's kiss, but man I wish Lego would start outlining dark blue pieces in the instructions a la the white outlines on black pieces. Those wings were rough to build, I definitely missed a 1x2 plate somewhere in the instructions on one wing. I've just stuck it on the bottom for now, i couldn't be bothered to disassemble the whole wing to locate a gap.
  23. It's worse than that, the Shadow ARF is one of three figs i don't own and I keep tabs on the price. I found multiple for sale a few months ago as cheap as $120 (which is still stupid expensive) Now I'm only seeing $200 - $300. Now way I'm spending that on a non-canon promo fig. This is the same reason i don't have Chrome Vader and Chrome 3-PO (although he's always been rare and expnsive).
  24. Discussion about the figs in a ucs set is not what was annoying people. The relentless sentiment that minifig choice/ design are what make or break a ucs set was what annoyed people. Also the point has been made many times that minifig scale ucs sets tend to have more minifigs it is quite likely that an $800 AT-AT will be minifig scale. That being said, I got hoth figs out the wazoo, a snow trooper officer that matches the newer print would be the only fig I’d be particularly excited by.
  25. A phase 1 Commander Cody, a Phase 2 Commander Cody, Jedi Bob, and Aunt Beru.
