LEGO Star Wars 2023 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Archer replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I’m going to buy it because I really want the location, but I really hate that it seems like a half baked attempt and a high asking price. Design would be forgiven if it was $50 cheaper, price could be swallowed if they knocked the design out of the park, but compare this set to the Indiana Jones temple they just did. One seems like it had way more TLC in The design phase. -
I did a double take at the recreation of the old baseplate. I like it!

So I wanted to buy the executor and have just sort of brushed up on the fact that it has apparently been very difficult to find and is constantly on back order. What's up? This isn't an SDCC exclusive turned set, did lego just mess up majorly on this sets availability. It wasn't a limited time thing was it? -

The Ghost may have sold ok and the phantoms, but many of the the other Rebel's sets were not the best choices. Wookiee Gunship and the jumbo speeder bikes and the Gozanti for sure were shelf warmers. I'd argue that Kylo Ren's Shuttle (the second time thay made it) was one of the slickest things out of the sequel trilogy and fairly memorable. -

Thanks I guess I'll dig out the 2021 Tie. I'm just so hyped to have all 4 main TIEs in a relatively consistent design for the first time in 20 years! Regarding Yavin 4 I am ecstatic that the set finally got made but I feel the set would have been better served with a slightly increased piece budget to what they have provided us with. Enough parts to bulk up the main build, retool the unforgivably bad tree, and maybe add a midi scale x-wing as well. Figwise, I'm ok with what we get, Red Leader and updated medal ceremony figs were what i wanted out of this set and they were provided, even better that the medals are they're own pieces. If I wanted to be really wishful I'd have preferred a new astromech to one I already own, but apparently BHD was silly expensive so i'm ok with it's inclusion. Also makes sense given the Y-Wing and Gold Leader. -

So I’ve just built the tie interceptor. Love it!!!! I have most of my sets in an off site storage facility and want to dig out a standard tie to display it with. Without them on hand do people think it scales better with the 2021 tie or the 2012/2018 ties? -

Nah they've slipped a lot in the last five years or so I have personally experienced missing pieces, double /missing / ripped open bags, missing sticker sheets, poorly aligned sticker sheets in $500+ sets, my C-3PO from the UCS Landspeeder had his legs printed wrong (literally the deciding factor on why i bought the set and it was printed wrong). For all this the company has a fantastic customer service department and they will make most of these issues right, but they are simply producing more than they used to and it shows in their quality control. -

I think I agree that at the end of the day it won't sell well, but I for one love any set that gives us more background characters. I would like more rebel pilots not named Luke, Wedge, Dack, and Jon "Dutch" Vander, more of the population of Jabba and Maz's Palaces, more imperial officers, etc. -

So I know the Luke Fig had leaked a while ago and I really like what they did for the figure but the last time they did a major update to the rebel uniform I bout enough X-Wing Microfighters to give all the pilots the new suit. Please for the love of CC Boba Fett, someone talk me out of purchasing 10 of this Luke figure!!! (Wouldn't it be amazing if they put a few pilots with the new suit in the Yavin base) As far as the actual X-Wing, I'm not going to judge it on a pic from one angle. I usually only buy minifig scale UCS sets or big capital ships, but I got the TIE on super clearance so I may get this to display with it. Also regarding the color I know it's been two decades but man I wish very light gray had survived. any X-wing would benefit sooooo much from it. -

The ISD was able to get away with using 11 16x16 plates and 14 8x16 plates, I'd say your logic makes sense on more pieces needed for the Venerator. -

Oof guess my final duel Luke with Endor leis’s cloak will remain as my depiction of this outfit. Luke needed to have dual legs at the bare minimum. -

oof lego has finally made a fig I'm going to be embarrassed to display in my every star wars fig ever display (and I have Aldar Beedo in there). That Yoda will look like some other brand's cheap knockoff. Edit: I don't mind the younglings though. -

Agreed, Boush has one of the most intricate helmets they ever did in fact. And I hardly see any improvements that could be done for Jabba. (I do understand that mny probably don't have the old figs though) I don't really see anyone as excited as i am that we are getting an updated 1999 fig! Endor Luke has not been updated since wave 1!!! (He's super easy to make with other parts anyway) So if you don't count the pit droid variations the only fig from wave one who hasn't been remade is ... Gasgano. Does Vader have battle damage? -

Pricing aside, I hope TLG is learning that Mandos specifically should almost always get arm printing. At least the named ones. Mandos and clone just have so much of their design tied into pauldrons and gauntlets. -

Agreed with THELEGOBATMAN, I'm actually happy about this. I usually only buy minifig scale UCS sets, But I do happen to own the UCS TIE Fighter and now I can get this X-wing to display with it. Apart from the falcon, the TIE and the X-wing are probably the most Iconic Star Wars ships ever so I'm not that surprised we're seeing a third rendition. Lets hope they print that windscreen this time around. -
New LEGO Speed Champions 2023 Rumors, Speculation
Archer replied to MTBingNinja's topic in LEGO Town
I just got into this theme and bought most of the sets that are still on the market. Going to work on buying all the 8 wide cars i missed in the next few months as i don't find the prices for the retired sets nearly as off putting as what an old Star Wars set / minifig can go for. I have a question though. I had to go to about five different stores to get the sets that are still on the market and other than Barnes and Noble no store seemed to have more than 1 or two cars on the shelf. Outside of cases like the Nissan Skyline which is clearly being scalped is there usually this much scarcity on SC sets or is it just a post holiday thing? The Mercedes set eludes me. I'm also rather surprised all the 2021 2 packs are already retired. I did snag the Dodge one from Best Buy and the Corvette from Amazon. RIP to the Ford one though. -

I think the helmet is fantastic and unique and well executed in its design. I also think it won’t perform as well as some helmets in sales which is a shame, but time will tell on that. Cody and Rex I’m fairly confident will have a wider appeal, but I’m very glad to get a less iconic helmet like Boushh in the line up. To me it shows the theme has plenty of the source material that may be viable options for future sets. -

I was under the impression that they never actually changed the box art to show Dallow, part of what makes it difficult to buy a sealed box that as Dallow in it. -

I know Obi Wan is not a clone, but the way his cape /robe was done in his new ep II appearance is one of the only times I think lego successfully pulled off the “clothing that wraps around to the side of the legs” look without side printing, dual molding or fabric. Echo, ep IV Obi, and Owen Lars come to mind as failed attempts at this. Obi (ep II) looks better because the legs are the color of the wrap around (in his case brown like the robe). -

Bomber looks good on its own. I need to see better photos to see if the windscreen works. I can’t tell if it’s going to look too small. -
Walmart had the Trash Compactor set for $72 last week, almost $20 off, which is a much more reasonable price so I jumped on it. Always harder to find sales on store exclusives. I think the set is a really good set stuck behind an absurd price tag.

So if the intel is right we are getting the two most needed remakes of ot starships in my opinion which is nice. I hope the bomber and interceptor are a good scale to the solo tie -

Ashoka is also an already established popular character who won the vote for that brick head thing. Lego often does questionable things but they have to know sets with an adult Ashoka minifig will sell. I think we could easily see it as the 2 half of the year exclusive. 0 chance something won’t exist by winter 2024 though.
