  1. Thanks for the comments so far people. My original plan was for the engine to be horizontally mounted, instead of vertically (that was the first bit I built of this model), then as I added parts, like the protective bars, everything kind of developed from there quite nicely. Also, on the subject of; I'm looking forward to trying to expand the storyline. Just hope I can think of some names, like the name of the ship and other crew members. Dave was all I could come up with for my engine expert's name at the time
  2. OoC: This is the first part of a short story line I'm going to attempt to build which is currently based before my last weekly build where I mentioned a malfunction with the GATE (Gravitational Anomaly Transport Engine) on my ship. I thought I'd have a go at making some more story driven builds in a style similar to many of the other people playing this game with multiple pictures. There will be slow progress to the story though because I can't build as quick as some here. ~~~~~~~~~~~ One of Kawashita's fleet of spaceships travelling through the Andromeda system was an old cargo ship operated by AC. It had had a small amount of conversion work done to it for use by Construction Crew Delta which was the official name designated to AC's small team of engineers. While it was relatively well maintained, it's age did occassionally show with the odd problem occuring every so often. Having been reassigned by the Kawashita Group board following some work on planet A06, known as Guinevere, AC instructed his ships captain on where they were required to go to next. Just as the ships GATE was activated, a warning sounded indicating a malfunction. Immediately, AC headed down to the engine room with his engine expert, Dave. [AC] Apparently the problem with the engine was here, on level 3. Any idea what happened? [Dave] The computers monitoring the GATE's systems seem to be reading okay again now. They don't seem to be quite as stable as normal, but it's all reading within tolerances. Whatever it was was only temporary, but it's sent us off course and could cause problems over time. I'll have to study the logs in detail to try to work out exactly what it was. How's this section of the engine looking? These bars never give a good view of what's going on. Better than looking through glass though. Too many reflections with that. I'll unlock the gate and we can have a closer look. Just don't get too close to the engine. Hmm... I don't remember leaving that spanner there the last time I did some work in here. You're not the tidiest of people I know. You probably dropped it as you left. Maybe... Some of those power couplings look a little odd. Kind of crooked. I'll have a closer look at them when the engine's deactivated and cooled down. As long as you can get it all sorted. We're needed planet side as soon as we can get there. ~~~~~~~~~~~ OoC: Having taken all the photos and got them on the computer, I've noticed a couple of things I would like to have changed, but ah well. There's two additional pics below showing the overall model without any figs.
  3. I need to pay for the loss of my truck this week, well not so much the truck, but some of the stuff inside it, so please transfer 30 credits to NuckElBerg
  4. Apart from looking at the builds posted on the same planet for this week, I've not got as far last weeks builds yet. I'm still looking at builds as far back as page 8, just to show how far behind I am. Just found yours from last week and I think you managed more detail than mine. Definately
  5. Thanks for the comments so far. I've got some thoughts for my next build that relate to this (that should be worth more points than this will get), so I just need to get on and build it.
  6. Tags: Exploration Kawashita Engineer's Log - AC - D04 Terrial Minor It's been 4 or 5 weeks since I was last in contact with the rest of the Kawashita fleet due to a malfunction with the GATE (Gravitational Anomaly Transport Engine) on my ship. We've now managed to reach Terrial Minor safely to continue with our work in the Andromeda System though. Unfortunately, there is still conflict with MANTIS who have also landed on Terrial Minor. Because of this, a few of us were intercepted by MANTIS pilots and drones while driving some trucks across the desert ( www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=112482 ). I've managed to get away, but lost my transport, so I'm now on foot trying to find my way towards somewhere useful before I encounter any other MANTIS agents or local wildlife. OoC: Not built anything for this for a month or so and I had a flash of inspiration yesterday to explain why as part of my characters story that I could build which resulted in the above. I've still not caught up with all the builds others have posted yet, but when I was uploading the image to Flickr, I thought I could tie my story in to soccerkid's build for this week to explain the basic scene I put together. I prefer to keep studs showing for rough surfaces like sand, but wanted to leave an obvious trail of footprints, so tiled this bit of desert.
  7. I'm really falling behind with all this. I've got 3 and a half pages of build threads to look at... On that note, I would like to transfer my 86 credits to NuckElBerg
  8. Thanks for all the comments. I forgot about tiling those studs at the top and noticed a couple of other bits when I was taking the photos that I'd forgotten about as well that I'd like to have sorted out. There were some other details I was planning on adding but ran out of time for. May revisit this model in the future at some point to make improvements to use as part of a larger display as I like the balcony and some of the details. I was using my tablet to take the photos in a bit of a hurry as I'd run out of time before going to bed. Good job I didn't have to get up for work this morning.
  9. I've just about managed to get an entry done for this week. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=111097 Wanted to do a bit more with it really and would have been nice to manage better photography, but kind of run out of time for getting it done for this weeks deadline.
  10. Kawashita Engineer's Log - AC - A06 Guinevere There's a lot of activity on Guinevere at the moment due to a conflict of interests between Kawashita and MANTIS, but I've managed to settle down to some work in one of the base areas out of the way of most people. I thought it was hot when I was working on Serium, but the heat here on Guinevere is so much worse due to the volcanic activity. I'm just glad we've got this new air conditioning unit installed on one of the upper floors of the base, although it does appear to have a few teething troubles. One of the monitor lamps is amber showing a potential fault, so I'll have to have run some diagnostics and fix the problem before it lights up red to indicate a critical problem. Just hope it's nothing to do with the intake filters. Don't want to have to go out on the gantry to look at them in this heat if I can help it. Not the greatest photography as usual from me. Additional photos below showing the whole scene. Would have taken more story based photos (and hopefully better quality ones), but took them in a bit of a hurry so that I can quickly post this before I go to bed.
  11. Just nosing through the points awarded and noticed the location wasn't changed as requested by UtilityBelt for this build, so the points awarded for domination have gone to a planet Octan can't reach yet. I just checked this against the dynamic map. It should have gone to Quantus III and not Sorn.
  12. Thanks for the comments. Parts of it didn't turn out quite how I'd originally intended due to not being able to find parts I know I've got somewhere, but I think it worked out in the end.
  13. Kawashita Engineer's Log - AC - B08 Greater Direstan Having arrived at the bottom of a range of mountains on Greater Direstan, we found a series of caves. I'm not sure they look like natural formations, but whether they are natural or not, there's plenty of awesomnium veins in them. I'm trying out a prototype mining drill to see how well it works. There's a pulse laser doing the actual cutting, so all the maneuvering of the vehicle is done using displays on the control panels. Don't want to have an accident with one of these things. As pieces of the rock are cut, they drop onto the conveyor belt which carries the material behind the vehicle and into waiting transports where it will be taken away for the awesomnium to be separated from the rest of the rocks. Not the greatest photography. Additional photos in the spoiler tags. Can't see in the photos clearly, but there's a control wheel on both sides of the driving position and the pulse laser can rotate left to right and angle up and down.
  14. I've just had a few minutes spare and updated the photos in the first link. I've added a few more dark tan plates to the base and given the model a little border which seems to be a thing that people do (which does look nice on these little scenes others have done, so I'm copying). I've also attempted to photograph my build on a white background (lots of pieces of A4 paper stuck to the wall and table with blu-tac. Didn't quite work as well as I'd hoped) instead of the table shoved against a wall. Not sure that the new photos are as brightly lit as the old ones, hopefully I'll do better with my next build. Just for reference, I've left the old images here in this post behind the spoiler tag. The new images are in the first post. Original images;
  15. Awesome speeder. I want one in Dark Grey and Red.
  16. Nice story. Love the details in the room and the laser effects.
  17. Like the design of the sub. Nice and compact design. Overall scene looks great as well.
  18. I agree with heading for Marden and Lorstan II. We're going to need the biomass and water they'll provide as we head outwards.
  19. Great ship design. Like the shaping and smoothness of it all. The overall scene looks good aswell.
  20. Love the story and nice idea with the rock monster. Great build aswell.
  21. Nice build. Like the way you've done the plant on the right of the scene.
  22. Great scene. Some nice details to the mining equipment.
  23. Great story to go with the build. I like the killer frogs. Like the landscaping of the build. Makes for a great scene.
