Heroica RPG - Quest #90: A Trip to the Circus

"Hoke. What would you do after someone invaded your home, killed your family and burnt your town. 'What they tried to do?' Get over yourself. Grishnod's the old clanleader of Irlaz, and Bastala's father, bet he's going to be chuffed about what you did to his daughter." -

Guts grimaced, paled, then stopped himself from bursting into laughter. This situation was getting more and more ridiculous and senseless. "You bloody oaf. Do you realize what you did? Bastala was clanleader for Clan Irlaz. The closest thing to a King or Queen." -

"The Orcs have no convenient way to get into the Kingdoms, so my guess would be none, Hoke Feeblesword. Those men are now dead, the same men that got their orders from those with us today. Now, someone tell me what everybody's obsession with keeping this pile of rubble of a bridge standing originates from." -

"We found Four Boulders and Red Lizards both at Imaestym, did you forget?" Guts waved Hoke away. "We were hired to deal with the bridge issue. This bridge is still an issue. And I understand plenty. I understand what hanged civilians and burning flesh means." -
At least someone is paying attention. (Spoiler alert, it is not me, and I am in the quest.) Thanks, Flipz.

Heroica RPG - Quest #90: A Trip to the Circus

Guts got some, and only some of the fire back in his eyes, perhaps the Orcish cause was not lost. If blood was not the price of blood, perhaps something else could be. He grabbed his intimidating stick. "Heh. You speak as though the Kingdoms would care about the different Orcish Clans. You know this to be not so. Were the roles reversed, and the orcs razed one of the Kingdoms' cities. The result would not be anything like what we have now. This bridge let that war party through. Valentino did. I say Valentino answers for his crime by proxy, the destruction of Imaestym and the murders that took place there, as will Raguel and the boy David. Trials, of course, chopping off heads is pointless at this point. In return the Orcs will not attack the humans, they'll sign a peace treaty. This bridge will be destroyed, it's a human tool of war, and you already admitted that it was unsafe. If a few soldiers can make it topple, trading wagons can never cross it. The Orcs will be free to raise vessels and start actively trading by sea, unhindered by the Kingdoms in this matter. One old man's head does little to put the burned and hanged to rest and soothe the anger of those left behind. More is needed to pay for peace." -

"As long as the High Kingdoms continue to plead innocent, there is no solution. Not while there are those that would stand by them in the High Kingdom's arrogance." Guts glared at Nerwen. "This is pointless. It seems the one that was right all along was Marga of all people." -

Guts shook his head. "There will be no peace. This bridge. It needs to be destroyed, the Kingdoms will not leave the orcs be, never, not as long as their leadership is passed down from craven father to craven son. We need to blow this thing up. We should... An armed standoff is better than constant war." -

"He at Yoren's Square, most time." "I doubt we have time for sollicitations and job interviews and all that, and I think it'd be below you, to be frank. On the balcony? Some of you may be able to climb up the drainage pipe... But everyone will see, and the guards will take offense. We'd need some kind of major distraction to make that work." "Well, they're not that bad, usually, to be completely honest with you, but I still have to make money, so I'm staying here, in a few moments, those guys themselves will want a sandwich or two, speaking of which, you planning on buying anything, friend?" -

Somewhere in the battle, Guts froze. He simply petrified. At the horrors in front of him, the realization that this whole venture had been bloody and pointless. The realization that there would always be people like Nerwen that would justify their decrepit actions with good intentions. The realization that he would never do anything good. Never make a difference. The world needs men like Guts, but did not want them. Finally now, the old raider was coming to his senses. And he broke. "I... I... It's over Tarvalk. This bridge... It's a deathtrap, you can't take this bridge by force, it will topple. The Orcs... I tried to make them see.... I'm sorry okay, I tried. I... I should not be here. We need to leave now." I'll take whatever share, as consumable, I'd like a smelling salts or emergency essence. Thanks for reviving Guts! -
I thought it was already collectively agreed upon that we'd blame Canada?

I also had a lot of fun at the event and meeting both people that I've met last year and people for the first time (and of course with the activities, ), a big thank-you to everyone involved in making it a success!

Heroica RPG- Quest #96: Tying up Loose Ends

Skrall heads into the alley, he bumps into the kobold that had made that place it's dwelling. Skrall notices that the kobold has only one arm. He responds: "Drink? Cheap drink from Jackson. Nice and drunk. Small, so need not as much as ogre, hah. Ask Jackson for more." The 'trapdoor' turns out to be a wooden grate. Purple explains: "Metal would get stolen, so the grates are all wood. This would lead to a sewage tunnel." "It's Captain Gwyar for you, civilian. Hmrpf. Woman, dead, multiple wounds from a sword. I'm waiting for this detective prick to finish his investigation. This is not your concern. Hurry back to your Daymaster." "Welcome to Clubs and Sanwiches, mate, I'm Letouche. The dead person? It's some rich woman, judging by her clothes. Maybe it's a girl from the bar down the street, don't know. Gwyar won't tell me anything, and in fact would rather have I move while they do their business, but I'm under official merchant's protection from Macros, so they can't do jack without angering him, hah." "I dunno, " Ellaria gets stopped by Purple. "Ellaria, it's not getting in that is the problem, the less shabby of you should probably be able to get in through the front door, it's just a problem getting to Zoe, and getting her out." -

The heroes go off to Mercutio's street. Eventually they find the 'street' that must be it. The heroes spot Purple and the others, and head towards them. "There you are, you found it, good, good. This is it. The Lion's Share Tavern and Gentleman's club. A popular drinking establishment among the rich. And Zoë's place of holding, if my information is correct. And it better be." The building Purple was talking about was a large three story building. "We can't just barge in and hope for the best, not only will they slit Zoë's throat faster than Patricia shouts for her spear, half of the richest captains in the city are probably in there right now. We'll need to come up with a plan. It may be best to split up, or maybe we ought to stick together, whatever seems best to you. I screwed up here, with Roman dead and Zoë in there, you heroes should be the one to lead us here. Us three, we are at your command for whatever. But whatever you may want done, keep our strenghts in mind." Alright guys, it's up to you to formulate a plan of dealing with the situation at hand! One hint: interacting with others may be beneficial. -

Heroica RPG- Quest #96: Tying up Loose Ends
Scubacarrot replied to Scubacarrot's topic in The Heroica Archive
Zepher, I'm going to assume it is supposed to be a Greatsword? If it was supposed to be a Longsword let me know. Also I'm having a slight issue so Mercutio's Street will have to wait for tomorrow. Also, starting Wednesday I'll be gone for the event as well. I'll try to organize a way to be able to update on the fly, but will be extremely slow and no promises whatsoever. More details tomorrow. Sultan starts forging right away, heating the forge up to ludicrous levels with strange powders and a lot of coal and air, so that the heroes and Sultan's Apprentices have to step back. Sultan himself seems unfazed, and works with utmost concentration. Eventually, Sultan comes out with Boomingham's new weapon; a long, slender dark blade with a two handed grip. A dice was rolled to determine it's weapon power. Sultan seems slightly unhappy. Darksteel Greatsword (WP: 10, Blinded Effect, Greatsword) "Not my best work, but still Darksteel, well, sometimes the forge works in your favor, sometimes it doesn't, eh?" "I don't keep tabs on what everyone has or doesn't have. Benji was in danger of being knocked out, you could prevent that with your healing. That's how I saw it. You could have moved out and be there to heal. Hell, even healing folks in the border would be useful, but is that too close to the action, too far away from the tower if things get hairy? Things get dangerous for people when people do not follow orders, do whatever they think is best, for themselves. You keep saying how useful you are being, how helpful. The same as you did back in Baltarok, shouting the loudest you were so vital for whatever happened to get a treasure you can't even use. I'm beginning to think it's only one thing you are interested in helping, yourself. I instead chose to do everything I can to end the battle for everyone's sake. I'm not going to rely on what's best for you. Now move out and help us, or don't, but don't expect the world to help you." Guts walks away, but then turns out around: "One last piece of advice. I'm the party leader, you obviously don't like that, but no one cares what you like or don't like, ANYWAY, it's usually going to bite you in the megablocks to piss that person off. And guess what you did with your refusal to help and useless blabbering?" -

"Grm, Purpearl. Matthias has proven his strength, you however, refuse to follow orders. Like it or not, I'm in charge, and I'm for killing these fools, whatever you're for, I don't need to know. I have been consistantly pushing for people to be revived. Don't see it, that's your problem. You're continually being unhelpful and bringing others in danger. Like it or not, you're not contributing much, and refuse to do what little you CAN. So yes, you're expendable, but no, that does not mean we won't get you up in time. This is not my first time, we know how this works. And even if you did not get picked up, you would have done your part. That's not enough? That's not acceptable to little miss mage? It seems to me you have a problem. Don't pin this on me. Bitch. You're lucky Benji has more sense than I would have given him credit for. Matthias, you're in luck." Revised battle order. "We need someone to take these sodding hits from the Priest. Benji? Purpearl, Haldor, keep on healing Benji after this, the rest of you press on the bitch. It's time to finish this... madness." Guts spat out some blood, his, not his, it didn't even matter. Guts attacks Cassandra with his dual hits hitting Cassandra as well. Benji moves to back row. Benji does something (attack cassandra or buff to be able to take hits better?) Purpearl moves to back row, heals Benji. Thormanil Dreyrugr Matthias Guts Guts Haldor Dyric Jess (uses phoenix essence on alexis?) Alexis? Free hit: Raguel vs. Benji
