  1. "Now we're getting somewhere. Someone send these robots after us, and someone had to make them. Who could that be? A scientist, perhaps, genius? Just tell us what you made him look like, what his new names and where we would be able to find them and we'll get out of your way." Calamity smiles sweetly.
  2. "Sewer wolves, huh? Does that just mean that you're Wolfgang, but also you smell bad?"
  3. Guts nods to Matthias and Daneeka and jumps in. "Never done it, I imagine it's just a case of making the horse go straight... Go whenever. So help me understand something. Eyric, your brother, Dyric? The resemblance is quite clear, dark hair, penchant for hooded cloaks... But weren't you and your family personae non grata in Duplovia? What happened, exactly?"
  4. "Ever driven a cart, Dyric?" Guts offers.
  5. I really liked the Crimson Crown guy Jared in 89, as well as the Crimson Crown in general, but I guess that doesn't count. The Spider Demon Queen from Quest 133 was really good too, and I hope to see her return. Quest 72 had the couple, with the husband being a total creep, can't remember his name, but he was quite well done also. It's hard to say, because Boomingham and Guts are never in the same quest, and I don't read a lot of quests I'm not in. I wonder if the hobgoblin general whatshisface from 89 would count? I really liked him too, but he wasn't very much a villain at the end.
  6. "No bias or hate, except against people of the Hero Variety, huh. So should we pay the Ji-Pei a visit then? I've always found their toys very impressive, imagine what you can do with a dozen firemages on one of their airships. Beautiful." Realizing Avina is right next to here, she coughs and adds: "In a strictly, theoretical sense, of course."
  7. Me too! Keep in mind the best villainous NPC doesn't have to be a Big Bad, it could just be an enemy npc with a personality that you really liked.
  8. That was unexpected! As for villainous npc, there are a bunch in this game, but too often they seem to die before too long, in the Quest I've been in, at least. It's been too long since Guts faced an overarching villain.
  9. Was there not a moment that you totally did not see coming in a quest? I had a few. One notable mention that didn't end up getting my vote was Jules being dead before we reached him in 129.
  10. That was in Quest 40, too early. But that is still one of my favorite moments in Heroica. Witch is great. As a QM you're kinda like, whelp, let's see how special mirror completely messes with the battle dynamic this time. I need to get back to QM-ing...
  11. Calamity cheers as the last automaton finally goes down. "Well done. That was fun." Calamity accepts the Crook with a grin and swings it around some to get a feel for the weapon. She equips it, and drinks one tonic. Looking around at all the destruction and the now dormant hunks of metal. She muses. "Where did they come from. I wonder..." Calamity inspects the Goliath closely, to see if she can gather any clues from the thing. Failing that, she goes outside to see if she can make out any obvious tracks as for the direction they came from. The mage suddenly realizes something, and she asks her companions: "Those automatons completely changed their behaviour when they realized there were Heroes around. Do we know anyone that hates Heroes with a passion and has access to this technology?"
  12. "We should. We rest, and we leave in the morning. We should find Daneeka."
  13. "Go, team! Hey, got any popcorn in this place?"
  14. Calamity does nothing for the rest of the battle.
  15. Guts nods to Talligard, and hands her back her map. "Thank you, for your assistance. Is there anything you'd like us to relay back to Guffington. I assume you know about...?"
  16. Calamity does nothing from the back row. "Thanks.. it seems I'm out of Ether and out of real usefulness."
  17. Guts smirks at the insinuation. "I guess some people are just better at serving than others. Move out, so we can drop you off at the palace and be on our way." The marauder had misjudged the Gnome. He figured he would be over what was his own failure at the battle for the bridge in Baltarok. Several of the 'heroes' there had refused to follow Guts' battle plan, which was solid according to what he had at his disposal the time. Guts had not forgotten, but he was willing to forgive. It seems Matthias preferred to blame Guts for his own weakness there, his own fear of being hurt. The Marauder was not impressed, he would look differently at Matthias from now on, to be sure, and definitely not keep him out of his sight. The gnome tried really hard not to answer the Marauder's attempt of reconciliation, so instead said: "We go back to the city. You walk in front."
  18. "We take it with us, and go on to Baltarok now." "Maybe that's why you were stuck in a tiny little town with a single shop and a terrible tavern." Guts mumbles.
  19. "Speak your mind now or I'm leaving you and the damn frog."
  20. The Marauder's voice becomes icy cold. He stares down the gnome, and tilts his head. "If you have a problem, a grievance, tell me, and we can do something about it, we can solve it. I'm not joking here, Matthias." Guts makes a point of crossing his arms, and with one hand touches his neck."Or is this about that bridge?" Guts can't help but roll his eyes at the Gnome's excitement. "I expected it to be bigger, to have made the whole world."
  21. "This battle is just a rollercoaster of emotions." Calamity remarks. "Also, where does one even hide this many of these robots?"
  22. Calamity attacks MK2J from the back row.
  23. "Guess we should. Thing might have been taken years ago and replaced by an ordinary hunk of iron. Remind me, what is this thing supposed to be capable off? I remember U'or got uncomfortable talking about, and he was vague to begin with."
  24. Try to do it in character, it's doable!
  25. Guts takes off his hat as he slows down when he realizes his companions will defeat the enemy before he could rejoin the party. It was quite the kick back. As he uses the wide brimmed thing to wave some coolness to himself, he looks the thing up and down, then nods appreciatively to Dyric and Matthias. "I told you, Golems aren't so bad." A grin passes his mouth as he adds under his breath. "Providing there is not a room of these things waiting for us up ahead." Looking at what valuables the, now reduced to a giant pile of rubble, golem left, Guts shrugs apologetically as he pockets the Grating Stone. They would sort all loot out later, to make things fair, he was sure. They always did. "Right, so we got this nice blue mask that would do nicely to make either of you less of a pain to look at, and we got some gold. Matthias for the Mask? We can also keep it for Hoke, gods know that visor of his is not down nearly enough." Coming closer, Guts realizes that the mask is in fact way too large to use as headwear of any kind, and would be more suitable to be used as a Shield than anything else... "Or we can use it as a wall to hide him behind. Works. I'll hang on to it for now. Let's continue." Guts hands 40 gold to both Matthias and Dyric.
