  1. Calamity gives Keliim a disapproving look, then climbs up.
  2. "Annie, you have an Emerald, do you think you could fashion a temporary ladder of sorts?"
  3. "We're not immortal. It's just... We seem to be able to take a lot of punishment ... On my first quest, I took a wound to my stomach, it looked bad, and should have killed me, but didn't. At first I just figured it wasn't as bad as it had seemed, but as time went on, I saw more and more of this. It's something connected to being a part of heroica, I'm sure. As for the fountain.." Guts holds up a similar, empty vial to the one Daneeka had for collecting the water. "This much is all we need, apparently. To be immortal... It seems like a damn long time... I doubt the fountain's powers work as in the stories otherwise it'd be a whole lot more coveted, I think"
  4. "You're not suitable for the task..." "Anyone see any conveniently nearby stepladders around?"
  5. "Of course." Guts gives Daneeka a smirk. "I'm more versed in political... subtleties than I might show, Daneeka. It is well known Dyric and myself are Orc-kin, everything we do will be reflected on Baltarok. We'll keep the prince safe and sound. Besides, I am not yet certain, but it sure looks like the Lizards are trying to improve relationships. Just... be careful here Daneeka. I've never known a Kingdom ruler to be 'likable', 'helpful' or 'fair', and that worries me more than you can begin to imagine." The Marauder nods to the others, and takes a sip from the large jar of wine he had procured for himself to stave off the cold. "Let's be off."
  6. "Hey." Calamity has her hands raised, dark energy swirling around her slowly moving fingers. "You might want to stand back just a bit." She warns, as she unleashes her spellcasting powers aimed at the wall next to the door.
  7. "In that case, we accept the offer. If there's anything we can do in return, I trust you'll let us know." Guts raises an eyebrow, then shrugs at the gnome's request, and moves to the other side of the room, inspecting the woodwork. This was not a place he had visited out of Baltarok, in fact, he had never crossed the bridge into the Kingdoms from there. He could not help but feel he was in the lion's, or rather the lizard's, den. One thing was for sure, it was going to be another sleepless night.
  8. "And then people call me delusive..." Calamity mumbles after Avina finished her rant. She looks around to the other Heroes. "So what's the plan, guys? Talk, attack? Attack, then talk?"
  9. "Hmm. Have you considered that might just you being afraid of what you don't know. I mean, I am not trying to kill you, but this man and his automatons are." Calamity smiles sweetly at Annie. "You'll see, you won't be so afraid of demons after you've cuddled with a few of them."
  10. Were some of the Fields challenges removed? I seem to recall during the trip I was on there was one called War?
  11. "Daneeka, what was our original plan for finding the fountain?"
  12. "I haven't been with Heroica long, but I think Heroica's goal is power. Power for it's Heroes. That's probably why they keep clashing with the Crimson Crown." "I could help with that, remind me to tell you of Opticius the Consuming when this is over."
  13. "That would be because I'm not very good at mummery my Lord." The Marauder inclines his head at the news of the situation between the Kingdoms and the Baltarok. "Good to hear our visit, almost two years ago now? was not in vain." Guts looks towards the other Heroes and Daneeka, as if to ask them if it was prudent to tell them what they were after. Then, he decided they might as well them and make use of any information they have, how could they interfere anyway? "Apparantly, there is a special fountain somewhere in Baltarok, a fountain that is supposed to grant eternal life, according to certain legends. Daneeka knows more about it than the rest of us, but we're tasked with getting some of the water for some mystic elemental ritual. Have you come across any mention of anything like that in your studies, my lord?"
  14. "I say we let him go. He's not our mission."
  15. "Great…" The marauder's mind flips through scenarios where the king's proposal ends in misfortune for the heroes. Daggers in the night, poison in the food, a bomb under the cart… Ultimately, Guts decided, there was no point in refusing, because if Valentino really wanted them dead, he'd have his soldiers attack the party before they could say 'no thanks'. Besides, if he was going to stay up all night keeping watch, he might as well do it somewhere warm. He added: "Really, great. Thank you. You know, when cities aren't being burned down, you make an alright impression, my lord. We'll be right behind you."
  16. Guts gritted his teeth, but relented his stance towards the man. He silently wondered what would be easier, this, or just killing the King and his soldiers and throwing them down the mountain. "We're headed towards Augustus Bridge. To cross over to Baltarok. There, we're meeting someone to help us a find an ancient relic. The usual adventuring stuff." Guts gives a -very brief- description of the journey from Duplovia they had taken so far. "It's been an uneventful journey, truth be told, until this damned snow." Guts moves to the horses, producing a hand of rough grain from seemingly nowhere, and starts feeding the horses. "If you don't mind me saying, so, my lord, I find it strange to see a King out here on patrol, especially with this weather."
  17. Scum!
  18. "An anagram, really? Come on, man, be a little more original."
  19. "Oh. You. I'm sorry if we don't stop to reminisce about the events on the bridge, or discuss the lovely weather, my lord Valentino. We really must be off, we are still behind schedule, and I would see that fixed." Guts sighs internally and drinks a Mead, Nostrum and Smelling Salts.
  20. Guts is throwing his lot in with ShadPiGuild.
  21. "Ho! Just traders out of Duplovia. Nice weather, eh?"
  22. "Sounds like you got the short end of the stick. He's got the family title, you're driving a cart into Baltarok. What about the rest of your family?"
  23. Calamity looks long at Keliim, her eyes flashing towards the arm that has the mark on it a couple of times. Eventually she says: "Good. Good. You should tell me about this Karain the Shadowgod sometime."
  24. As Keliim moves in to interrogate Reg, she asks him. "Hey, I don't recall you going into a rage like that in the parlour. Is that new?"
