Oh please, everyone knows demons are chronically misunderstood, and who says those people that were sacrificed weren't terrible people themselves?

I disagree with a lot of you here and will say that Heroica is NOT a Good organization, and it's focus is not helping people, it's profit and riches for it's members. It is very clearly a Neutral organization. I think playing an evil character is harder than playing a good character, but perfectly doable. Some or a lot of it has to do with quests that are offered. A requirement for a quest to be accepted is: Would the veterans approve this quest? And that can be tricky, but a quest that has evil connotations seems totallly doable. And that's not me saying Calamity is a decent character (she's not) or is even evil (she's probably not), that's just me having thought about it. Obviously you can't go around killing npc's and betraying your party at every turn, but what you can do is have your character's motivations and small actions (what I call actions that don't concern the greater narrative of the quest) be of any morality. Maybe a character helps someone because they know they'll end up stronger because of it, and will end up using their power for their own nefarious goals later, maybe they are just waiting for the perfect moment to strike, as many an evil character in narrative. As for my own character's morality, Guts has been anything from Lawful good to Chaotic Neutral with the occasional dip in evil territory. I can't classify him easily, I just have no idea.

Ahem, as the creator of paralyzing venom, I would like to say it was a simpler time. What it did when I created the item was caused afflicted enemies to not be able to deal free hits. In other words, slowed on enemies as we know it now.

Heroica RPG - Quest #140: Requiem for a Machine
Scubacarrot replied to CMP's topic in The Heroica Archive
"You should throw the bomb, these machines are going to wreck us. Lethal force, remember? And is anyone going to attack Briar?" Calamity spends her turn trying to Blind Big red with her Scroll from the back row.- 559 replies

"Hmpf, it's been done. Which group has a Holla and a McHolla, that's just ridiculous. If you're going to be Dirrone McHolla, we should all change our names. It's the only solution. I'll be Bloke Feeblesword."- 603 replies

No way, Guts could not survive a single hit and she's immune to his weapon. It also doesn't seem to recognize Europe as being a thing.

Heroica RPG - Quest #139: Around the World (West)
Scubacarrot replied to Zepher's topic in The Heroica Archive
Guts sells his crystal ball for 400 gold, and buys the two grating stones and one fate's orb. He hands over 25 gold. "Thank you. These will be put to good use." The marauder now was ready to leave Haddon behind, providing Daneeka had recovered enough.- 603 replies

Calamity frowns as the beginning of her conversion attempt seems to have no effect. The drink's effects must be starting to wear off. Calamity's tone changes instantly. "Nobody B? Nobody but? Nobody but who? You refuse me a walking stick, but there's some lowlife with a weapon here somewhere? Maybe I'll wake Grumpy up and tell him what you did."- 559 replies

There is a drink in 140 that gave Calamity the job traits of a High Cleric.
-
Zepher, if you see this, does the Orange Mask of Z only work for the next enemy in line, or all enemies in line? As in say there's four enemies with 100 health, you hit the first with 400 damage, do they all die, or just the first two?
-
I mean, she's no cleric... It's hard to convert everyday people to the glorious faith of summoning demons for power and power alone, alright. Conversion seems like a difficult thing to get right, I reckon we'll see a lot of failed attempts. The timestamp is that way because I fixed spelling, I think, we still crossposted, not that it matters at all.
-
Yeah I realized that, and had edited my post before you posted that. But seriously though, any good High Cleric knows that a good conversion starts of with a sob story.
-
How and if it works is up to the QM, as with the other flavor job traits. I just want to use the only thing the drink I chose gives Calamity.
-
Your best bet is probably to try and find Sandy's quests directly involving the factions for their outlooks and things like that.

Heroica RPG - Quest #140: Requiem for a Machine
Scubacarrot replied to CMP's topic in The Heroica Archive
Calamity looks down, and sees it is almost go-time. "You're very welcome, for such a little man, he seemed like quite the hands full." Calamity sighs. "You girls are all so beautiful, it reminds of this amazingly special creature that requires a lot of effort to summ-.. err, to spot." Calamity says, using her conversion powers subtly. "Hey, do you think I could get my staff in here? I had to hand it off at the entrance, but years of carrying bundles of firewood through forests have made my back as annoying as a fairy dust addict past last call. It would be really helpful."- 559 replies

Mostly because of the specific gear needed.
-
Well, he's a Marauder now, technically. Honestly, Guts might say screw it and go Wolfgang. And definitely not look for the first coup opportunity.
-
How do you reckon that? Guts has great reputation (x2) with the Bonapartes and the Shadeaux, and Outstanding(x3) with the Guild. Very difficult decision.
