Heroica RPG - Quest #139: Around the World (West)
Scubacarrot replied to Zepher's topic in The Heroica Archive
"Wouldn't a vat be more suitable?" Guts worried at the implication of finding the mythical fountain of youth, perhaps he should tell the other heroes what Guffington told them in secret. "Matthias for the gloves, perhaps?" Guts suggested. "So where are these things located, and why exactly do we want them?"- 603 replies

Guts smiles at Matthias. "I heard he was an Admiral. The sea's a dangerous place." The Marauder raises an eyebrow, surely Guffington would have been able to afford a proper ship, including a crew. Then again, who in their right minds would sail to Baltarok and the Nord infested waters? "Aye aye, Captain."- 603 replies

Guts curses various bodyparts of Mercutio for not noticing Lady Felix was still out here, he spins around and answers quickly: "I'm just reminding Hybros to watch out for sandstorms in Dastan and the sands of time of course. They tend to get messy when Guffington's around. You know"- 1,528 replies

Guts raises an eyebrow: "What's with you and sand, somehow whenever we're here at Guffington's, for whatever reason sand is involved with you. Didn't you steal Lady Felix's sand or something equally ridiculous?"- 1,528 replies

"Oh, I'm sure we can teach them a lesson in vagabondry still." Guts says, smiling, trying not to think too hard on the fact that he quite literally cut this woman to little pieces once. It's hard, to kill Selkreeth. "Very well... Gerald. Yes, you sure know how to make an evening unforgettable, multiple evenings, really." The Marauder nods as the plan is laid out. A shame, indeed that he couldn't see all the lands involved, but it had to be remembered that this trip was business, not pleasure. "Looks like I'm logical choice for leading the expedition to Baltarok and the Kingdoms. I've got... some experience up there." Guts nods to the assassin. "Dyric and myself will be able to handle all possible issues, we're both considered Orc-kin, and of course Dyric's a local." The Marauder looks at the remaining Heroes. "It makes sense if both Dragoons go to Dastan, dragons are big over there, I hear. Matthias, wasn't it? Want to come along with us? I like big guns and I cannot lie. Hybros, why don't you take the Mage. She seems like she'd enjoy the sights of Xu." Guts returns Hoke gazes and with a grin taps his dagger to signify his preferred solution to political sensitivities.- 1,528 replies

My stats should be good, thanks for having me. Guts walks up to the trio and removes his hat as his face splits into a sincere grin. There were only a few things the Marauder truly liked about Eubric and being a 'Hero', but somehow Guts developed a soft spot for the Great Guffington. He bows his head to the female Selkreeth. "My Lady Felix, a very pleasant surprise. How have you been? Ever got around to go to... Dastan, wasn't it?" The former Raider absent mindedly fumbles with the ring around his finger, the Beholder's eye, as he greets his employer and his most trusted helper. "Mister Guffington, it's good to see you're well. No more trouble with assassins? U'or, nice to see you. How's Madame Ladybug?"- 1,528 replies

Some expert classes have a very particular set of weapons they can use, Dragoons, Harlots and of course Cannoneers and Minstrels for example, and others have sets of weapons that gel better with certain classes like Ranger, Barbarian and Rogue for Beast warrior. Then of course there is the Chi-Monk which makes the whole weapon discussion moot. Of course there are some weapon types that are just more used by classes, like daggers, which can be used by the most classes, probably. Using a versatile weapon like a dagger does it make it much easier to change classes, and that doesn't seem fair, but which weapons a class can use is entirely based on flavour, so there's inconsistency. The same inconsistency also exist with what weapons are dropped. If I were to guess I'd say that the amount of Longswords and Staves is disproportionally big compared to how much classes they can be used by. Your main weapon seems to be broomsticks, Necromancer and Artisan (as well as weather mages) use them from the expert classes. Something you can always try if you want a change is considering going back to advanced classes, or going sharp for the Veteran job class

Guts hands Arthur the 300 gold for the scrolls, and choses to ignore the rest of the character's peculiarities. He then ruins Portia's day and sells back 1000 potions for 2500 gold, as well as 4 gold bars for 50 gold each. The newly minted Marauder opts not to buy from Portia and gets himself a new magic compass instead (-50), and has his two new scrolls imbued in his shoes for 50 gold each, and finally picks up a Marauder's Mantle (-500).
-
Or there can be a second character that is stronger than many first characters before it even has a picture.
-
Guts nudges Arthur, and says quietly: "Do you have it?"

I thought Quest 129 was a great Quest CMP, I had a lot of fun and I agree a lot with things my questmates have already said. I really enjoyed the minesweeper puzzle and the pathfinding puzzle. You said we missed some things at the minesweeper one though? huh. The battles were great. They were almost all challenging but not so challenging that you end up with the party leader stating 99% of the party's actions. That's difficult to do and I think you did great. The 'hordes' of enemies are a really good idea. The Numbers puzzle was a bit weird, as we had never heard of Malphien before. That made the end result just guessing even with all the letters Something I thought could have been done differently perhaps is that I thought there perhaps was not enough choice or roleplaying or whatever you want to call it, it was pretty railroaded. The only 'choice' we had was wether or not we killed the Crimson Crown Agent, but that seemed to have no repercussions either way so that doesn't really count either. It seemed a lot like: Captain Illidria is along to tell us what to do and the heroes just do it. If we hadn't had her along, perhaps we could have figured things out by ourselves, I don't know. It wasn't a very big problem anyway. The splitting up the party I think helped with that, as well. I think you set up Melville in a really good way. The vampires were almost silly distractions, but I think they worked to ramp up to something bigger than them. The final battle was great, and I think you did a very good job of setting up for your next quests, CMP. I also really enjoyed you showing off Rook more at the end there, he's always obviously been way more than he seems, but no clue as to what exactly. Thank you again for hosting me.

I think Kintobor means that it's a sure thing, no rolling involved.
-
I really like this idea actually. It gives a significant boost to the value of clerics without getting rid of the usefulness of something else.
-
The problem is that at the lower levels they would be super useless. 1/6 of 10 health.. yeah..

Guts raises an eyebrow. "Really, well, I'm going to need a sparring partner. Meet me in the Training Room."
-
Guts strolls in, and smirks as he signs up for Quest 139. "It's been too long since my last encounter with the great Guffington. Let's see what trouble he's in this time."
-
Guts adds 900 gold to the loot pile.
-
"Those are good weapons. I want the Rapier." Guts states. Holding a bag of gold ready to drop in the pile. Thanks for the great quest, CMP! "I'll think I might take up your style of fighting, Captain. Alchemy is fun, but I'm a brawler at heart. You shouldn't stay away too long. I might start miss the Magpie, and the excitement it brings with her."
-
Guts forces himself to calm down after the battle, and sighs. "I'm really getting too old for this." The Alchemist shrugs. "Literally everyone is the Crimson Crown's enemy. This Malphien or whatever it's called did not attack us, it is a charlatan, another enemy hiding in the shadows sending others to do it's dirty work. I'm not afraid of it if it keeps sending fools like Melville."
