[MOC] Crack of Doom: Destruction of the Ring (Book Nook)
FullBrickDev replied to Aachthor's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Very stylish! Even though it uses a lot of pieces, I like the "covers" of this book nook. The lighting effect is quite nice as well.- 9 replies

LEGO Star Wars Set Discussion 2025 - READ FIRST POST!!!
FullBrickDev replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I think this information comes from the Force of Creativity book, as it shows a sketch they did of a modernized Zam Wesell. I suppose they told about the cancelled set there for the first time, but I can't confirm as I don't own the book yet. But with the recent trend of them doing Episode 2 sets gradually over the years (UCS Gunship, Clone command post, Obi-Wan's starfighter, UCS & playscale Slave 1), hopefully there is a good chance of them making more and more sets that could use a remake, such as this one! -
[MOC] Jungle Outpost (inspired by set 43223)
FullBrickDev replied to The Reader's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
You adventuri-zed this set well! An official set probably wouldn't include this many minifigures (since you asked for criticism ). Like SpacePolice89 said already, the parts used fit well into the Adventurers theme. -
A very beautiful build altogether! The use of those arms in the mantas is indeed very nice parts usage. The build has a nice story, and the verticality adds a lot of character to the build.

Lord of the Rings Ongoing Discussion
FullBrickDev replied to Momotof's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Hopefully it's cheaper than the previous sets, although I do hope for many minifigures (e.g., some dwarves?) which might raise the price a lot, considering the average mould price is somewhere around 70k USD from what I recall. I do wonder what they will include. The party area and the Hobbit hole itself are pretty good choices, but they could try including some more obscure buildings as well. -
Simple but great! The little base adds a lot.

General LEGO Star Wars Discussion and Questions
FullBrickDev replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I would have preferred if a) the Jabba's Sail Barge included the skiff for the price OR b) it was smaller and more accessible to the general audience because of the price. They definitely should release most of the figures in the Sail Barge in a smaller, more accessible set later on. I don't mind if they want to leave some of the guards/prints exclusive. If I did have to choose either option, however, I would definitely choose the smaller playscale update. The current set is so expensive while cutting corners (e.g., C-3P0 not having dual molded legs and Bib Fortuna's fat mold reuse), that it makes me question spending all this money on Star Wars. For that price, I expect premium. Unfortunately, this isn't premium - it's passable. I'll likely buy it on a discount, since I don't own any of the figures yet and I'm excited to have a big Sail Barge! It's not funny that their brand spirit is "only the best is good enough" when they have clearly cut corners in a premium priced set. -

I do wonder when we will hit the point where they are asking too much and it really starts affecting sales. The current prices are quite ridiculous, even if they're "adult sets". The high price in addition to the obvious blunders such as not including UCS C-3P0 with the dual molded leg in the Sail Barge are starting to eat away at me. Including UCS C-3P0 wouldn't cost them too much (likely pennies, although I have no data on this), and I'm sure the designers would have liked to include him in the set, but got likely rejected because they have a minifigure budget that they have to follow strictly. -

I wanted to know if this price is as outlandish as it seems. So, I did the math! While prices per piece for most UCS Star Wars sets are outlandish sometimes, the price per gram is not too horrific. Higher, sure, but around one or two cents per gram higher. It's too late for me in the evening to start comparing if the price per gram is around 20% higher for licnsed themes as New Elementary said "we should expect to pay roughly 20% more for a licensed set than for a comparable non-licensed set". Jabba's sail barge: 549€ - 3942 pcs (13,9 cents per piece - unknown cents per gram) UCS AT-AT: 849€ - 6785 pcs (12,5 cents per piece - 7,9 cents per gram) UCS Razor Crest: 599€ - 6171 pcs (9,7 cents per piece - 7,4 cents per gram) Lion Knight's Castle: 399€ - 4514 pcs (8,9 cents per piece - 6,6 cents per gram) Gringotts: 429€ - 4803 pcs (9 cents per piece - 6,4 cents per gram) Rivendell: 499€ - 6167 pcs (8,1 cents per piece - 7,2 cents per gram) Avengers Tower: 499€ - 5201 pcs (9,6 cents per piece - 7,1 cents per gram) Eiffel Tower: 629€ - 10001 pcs (6,3 cents per piece - 5,4 cents per gram) Ninjago City Gardens: 349€ - 5685 pcs (6,2 cents per piece - 5,8 cents per gram) Duel on Peridea: 54,99€ - 382 pcs (14,4 cents per piece, 10 cents per gram) Construction Excavator: 54,99 € - 621 pcs (8,7 cents per piece, 6,6 cents per gram) Thanks to Brickset for prices/price per piece & leakers for Sail barge info. Price per gram is per the weight listed on bricklink. EDIT: I was worried the sails wouldn't look great - they look good! Figs look good as well, although I would expect more for the price. Salacious B. Crumb still looks funny without pupils. -
Lord of the Rings Ongoing Discussion
FullBrickDev replied to Momotof's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Happy to hear some rumours about LOTR. As someone who builds MOCs quite frequently, I would definitely prefer if the minifigures were more accessible/cheaper, meaning I would prefer quantity. However, I'm happy to receive big, detailed sets at the very least, and would prefer if there were smaller, accompanying sets. Although, I guess that's basically what anyone would say I would just like to amass army-building figures, like soldiers of Gondor and orcs, in a good quantity. Hopefully the rumour is about smaller sets. -
I like the pillars and the roof on this one! It's an interesting build because it shows/teaches history through Lego.

[MOC] Castle Building Set - Remake
FullBrickDev replied to YellowFrog's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Goodness me, that original set is...something else. You did the remake well, it has nice angles and looks while still being almost the same size as the original. It would make for a nice GWP/small set. -
[MOC] Jungle Tavern (inspired by set 6267)
FullBrickDev replied to The Reader's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I love the old roof piece! The build overall has the "old set" feel, so I think it's rather well executed. -
[Figbarf] Jungle Warriors
FullBrickDev replied to The Reader's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
A unique color, well done! -
Masterful work with the colour gradients! Did you use light bluish grey and tan between the white and yellow/orange? The colours you used in between kind of look like light bluish grey and tan but less pronounced, so maybe they're some other colours I don't recognise.

[MOC] Adventurers' Layout
FullBrickDev replied to YellowFrog's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Heh, I did think of exactly that when I saw your MOCs. It might inspire me to do the same, but that would mean a lot of part investments! On the topic of animals and old moulds, I do prefer using the modernized pieces but the old ones are quite cute as well. However, not all of the pieces feel out of date, such as the tan hieroglyphic pieces from the desert subtheme. -

I would have liked to have seen Qimir in minifigure form simply for the helmet, and more High Republic Jedi wouldn't hurt as @Flieger said. Quite puzzling indeed that a 180 million budget didn't yield any sets. -
[WIP] [KOTOR] UCS Leviathan Interdictor-Class Cruiser

Impressive! Now I want to play KOTOR again The transparent beam doesn't bother me much, although it does seem to slightly affect swooshability. -
Lord of the Rings Ongoing Discussion
FullBrickDev replied to Momotof's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I believe it was a survey by LEGO where they asked, for example, how much would you pay for these sets. This is as much as I know. Someone who participated or was organizing the survey leaked it, I'm guessing it was a participant since leaking would seriously jeopardize your job at LEGO. How people got into the survey, I do not know. I believe Barad-Dûr was shown about a year ago at a Lego House Inside Tour, and the designers at that Inside Tour did specifically say that they didn't know at all if there was going to be a second set after Rivendell. -
[MOC] Adventurers' Layout
FullBrickDev replied to YellowFrog's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Nice work with the statue on the Jungle Swamp video! Looks nice. In regards to your list, I would add something for the Yeti and Tygurah. Also, since elephant carriages are prevalent in the India(?) sets, I would add at least an elephant somewhere. If you can, adding some planes (I see you made a plane on youtube, maybe for the Adventurers layout) and air balloons would be another iconic addition. Naturally you could try to get the old but expensive Adventurers blimp, or try to make something similar with bricks. It would be very interesting to see something imitating or in the same spirit as the blimp but made with bricks, as the blimp is quite the collectible these days. I recently took some Orient Expedition mocs to a convention, and I got some very positive feedback on the sets that I modernized. However, the best feedback was about the ones that didn't look too much like the old sets, and I like that you've explored outside the beaten path and created modules that don't imitate the old sets too much. -
Very nice shapes in this size: I don't see real animals done in this scale in Lego a lot. Like the others have already pointed out, the build feels very real!
-
This is very well exectuted! The legs are a good choice. Funnily enough, I haven't seen the special edition of a New Hope (unless I'm forgetting something) and therefore got confused why were you saying an animal from KOTOR was in a New Hope!
