  1. Brickfactory will be back. They said they are moving to a new host due to icnreasing traffic. It's been a couple of weeks.. We never heard from them again though?
  2. Sorry guys but whatever you say will not change the fact that Flickr is not free. You can only store 200 images and this is ridiculous. You can only have 3 folders with it and that's even more ridicilous. It makes browsing a boring experience without folders. Not many people will want to pay for it. In Brickshelf you only need to click recent images to follow new MOCs but with Flickr you have to locate tens of LEGO related groups to find new MOCs. People will post in one group and not one other. It provides more challenges than the service it promises. I have been using it for a long time and I have multiple accounts with different topics and it has served me very well for my other needs. But for LEGO it definetely is not a good alternative to Brickshelf. MOC images require folders and lots of images and Flickr don't provide those with a free membership. That's pretty much the end of it. I see that Flickr is very "in" lately and people like to follow crowds without putting much thought on it. Unfortunately it doesn't help us with our needs.
  3. Flickr is not free. It doesn't have the easy-to-navigate/upload system like Brickshelf. You have to find and follow tens of groups to reach LEGO images. MOCPages is a better hıst when it comes to LEGO but still they are no alternate to Brickshelf unfortunately. It was an idiot proof web site and it did its job just perfectly. I hope someone else can come up with such FTP-like web site for LEGO images.
  4. Hi, 1 & 2 - They don't reveal new products unless it's ready to announce. So it's not possible to tell. 3- Yes, it's completely up to the distributors. They can choose whatever they like and TLG didn't have any major supply problem for them so far. But they only ask for certain items they think would sell. So you should contact your distributor and tell them fans are looking for those items. TLG can't force them to sell things. If they don't want PF parts then they won't sell them. Simple as that.. Besides you don't have to buy them second hand and Bricklink is a great community. You are very unlikely to end up with something that doesn't work. In that very very rare case, you can always file NSS and ask for a full refund from Paypal. There are thousands of people who buy globally so you shouldn't worry if they'll reach you. Of course you must check customs duties and post regulations in your country before following such ventures.
  5. I like the woodland camo and those tires you have used. I'll look through those and get me some.
  6. Thanks for the nice comments. I print my own stickers, they are not official unfortunately. Those technic pins don't represent or mimic anything. I wanted to have something in tan. My first try was the 1x1 round plates but didn't have enough to fill the car so I switched to those pins, we all have plenty of them :)
  7. 60 cm for inside diameter, 70 cm for outside diameter 13 cm for a straight track Have fun !
  8. Today, I bring you a side dumper car. I'll keep adding more cars to my cargo train. It's really so much fun :) You may view more images from my Flickr page: http://www.flickr.com/photos/legoadam/ I also made this car with red stickers but decided to keep it in blue. Here's how the red one looked for those who wonder: http://img130.imageshack.us/img130/5782/39741616.jpg
  9. Thanks for the great review. I loved the set but I wish they hadn't used those curved slopes on the front. Some premade part would be better.
  10. Here's a tiny tanker car I made: You may view more pics on my Flickr since Brickshelf is down: http://www.flickr.com/photos/legoadam/
  11. It won't, rest assured. We talked about this in the ambassador forums.
  12. They do use scales for that. But I once bought a 8674 (?) Ferrari F1 1:8 and it didn't have the wheels & tires. I asked TLG if this was possible and they said they use scales so that's very unlikely to happen. I returned the set and found out it was already a returned set before I purchased it! I bought it somewhere else. A few weeks later I received a package from TLG with the wheels/tires and an apoligy letter for my experience. They do care about customers :)
  13. You're comparing two different colours, purple and dark purple. It's not the same colour in different shades. It's like showing dark red and red then saying look at the change. I have checked my dark purples and they are pretty consistent.
  14. That's what I keep getting?
  15. The main reason for oversized boxes is customers, which means children. They prefer to choose bigger boxes instead of smaller ones without considering what's actually coming in it. Though, TLG has recently made a new system of box sizes which minimizes storing costs. So there are fewer box sizes now. Sometimes they use the same size of box for smaller sets and at the same time for bigger sets. You're likely to see a 30 USD set and a 50 USD set in the same sized box. That's to keep storing costs minimum. Contact customer support through their web site and they will send you replacements regardless of your country. You may also try purchasing them on Bricklink.com in case of emergency. It's likely to be a stock planing issue like we had with castle/pirate calendars. But you can't just have everything in every country. Some will get some stuff and some will get others. You may feel it is unfair but it's just the way it is. Exclusives and promotions are produced in smaller quantities but they distribute them as much as possible. If it's not for sale in your country then it's probably sold out. Also don't forget that if distribution was equally done then you'd end up with way less sets in the US. So it's only unfair to others at the moment :)
  16. Don't believe in Wikipedia and other simialr web sites. Here's official confirmation for those who do:
  17. Technic will nto be discontiuend, we have already seen product iamges for 2010. Isn't that enough to proove this is wrong news? Castle is not goen either, wait for it ;)
  18. It's not about price. When new windshield designs come, they'll be in new trans-clear so it won't match with your previous ones. Like the old gray-new gray thing... But I would like to point out for a second time that this is not a final decision, it's just a thing in the works. Things may not change in the end. Don't get so excited or upset :)
  19. Transblack is indeed a major colour. I would like to point out that this is not a final decision, just a thing in development. We'll see how they'll react to our comments.
  20. Those are very important points Tony, thanks! Cwetqo mate, it's not that hard to buy from eBay :) Only USA sellers hesitate when shipping overseas, everyone else is ok with it. I'm jsut looking for even betetr deals. I have personally spent 180 USD for this exhibition and our LUG budget will be limtied too. We have to save every cent we can, that's why I was asking for deals here. As for RC & PF you're absolutely right. I have both of the systems and we'll find out which to use later. Though, I'm not satisfied with RC either. But we don't have enough 9V tracks so it's out of the question. There is no way we can make it as long as we like. I don't know if I could arrange Duracell to sponsor us though :D But it's a good idea, I'll try it!
  21. That one will be tricky, considering the show is in Turkey :D We acquired some tracks through Shop At Home but we're still missing some wheels and magnets. If anyone can find them cheaper than Bricklink please let me know. It costs 40 USD through the cheapest store on BL but we prefer it lower :) By the way it's not impossible to change batteries during show, it's just hard. If it'll be cheaper, we'll deal with it. Thanks for the replies! Keep 'em coming. Any other ideas not related to trains are also welcome. PS. Here's a list of stuff we need:
  22. Hi all, As the members of TurkLUG, we will be displaying our MOCs and official sets in a shopping mall this february. I thought a functioning train setup would be attractive for kids and visitors. Unfortunately we don't have 9V trains so we are having difficulty powering the train. All items will be in a big glass case so it will be hard to open it up and replace batteries. It needs to be running 12 hours a day. So what do you suggest? -How long would it take to run out of batteries at the slowest speed? We have a 3 car passenger train and/or a 4 car cargo train. -Should we get high-end expensive batteries or cheaper ones? -Is it better to use the rechargable Power Functions battery? We only have one, is worth getting another one? -Should we fear about heating? -How could we obtain cheap RC tracks/black RC wheels? Any sugesstion and ideas are welcome :)
  23. Oh my god this is fantastic, it cracked me up :D
  24. Hi, - How much? You say how much :) - Paypal accepted? Paypal only - Do you ship worldwide (mainly, Canada?)? Shipping with tracking code to anywhere on earth is 3.20 USD - If you want to trade, then what for? No trading this time :( - Do the troopers come with helmets and goggles? If not, will you substitute for other headgear? Unfortuantely I don't know where the head/neck gear are, what you see in the picture is what you get :(
