  1. *kills* Believe me, some whackos buy the strangest of things...
  2. Too much for what you get? I guess everyone's entitled...
  3. Great, and I'm really glad everyone had... fun? No seriously... what kind of an event was this? A mistake obviously. Like I'm reading here, few people really enjoyed it and many left disappointed. I heard some people want to bring back their sets too. I'm glad I'm skipping out on Clone Wars and taking the Death Star. No offence... I'd rather spend 500$ on something HUGE rather than a bunch of smaller things.
  4. Good points, I'll admit that. (venemous comments sure seem nicer with a wink ) But honestly, hasn't Bionicle ever bugged you? I adored it like you do up until 2007. I loved 2006 and the story, but 2007 was a joke in my opinion. 2008? I didn't even try. It might make you happy to hear that I'm buying one or two of the REALLY, REALLY old sets... 2001/2002. I'll find something or another...
  5. Another great point by a great poster. This set also stops people from being completists. LEGO should know by now that completionists = lots of money. People will buy anything and I mean ANYTHING just to finish up a theme.
  6. You've got to be kidding me... 275$ for that? Yeah right, some unlucky person just had to spend all of his money... to think people in Africa starve while some people buy stupid things like this. Lack of thought/bad looking exclusive off.
  7. How did he get pictures of the box?!?! REVIEW IT PLEASE!
  8. The Tower of Lord Dragonator My first MOC! Just in time! (or in Canada at least.) Here is my entry- Lord Dragonator's Tower. Up high upon his unholy, 42cm-tall tower, guards carefully oversee the castle courtyard and insure that anyone who attempts to lay siege or harm any dragons within the castle walls are severely punished. However, the funny twist is that Dragonator is supposed to be thinking of intersting and unique deaths, however he decides to daydream instead. As he daydreams, his guards die in vicious ways... ways that if he had not been so occupied, he would have seen. Here is the entire MOC, from the front. You can see a guard on the second level with a dragon tail behind him, he hung himself out of misery (I forgot to take good pictures) http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=3316907 The first part is Dragonator at his powerful computer currently on www.eurobricks.com, thinking of new and interesting ways for people to die. However, it appears that his mind is on other subjects- preferably, dragons! Free, running about in the wild, in his thought bubble. He's content thinking about Dragons too. Seems like daydreaming has paused his progress in completing Day 9. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=3316894 The second part is the small treasury room. The guard here is unfortunately quite traitorous. He has decided to take the treasure for himself. But unless looking for rare golden treasure chests, this guard has nothing to find but monsters! A giant scorpion pops out of the chest and a snake lunges jaws first, instantly beheading the guard! Serves him right. The snake was by adding a black minifig hand under the head for the jaw. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=3316918 The third and final part is the top of the tower... the strongest of guards is promoted to "top-of-the-tower-guard", where he stands around and... watches. Unfortunately, it seems a red dragon is looking for food in the exact same place. And it's not Ragnir, but a wild Oriental Dragon from the east! I used snakes for the whiskers and a tiny turbos mudguard to make the eyebrow. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=3316926 The back of the tower, I like how this turned out. There's a little symbol made with arches. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=3316950 Sorry about the pictures.
  9. I've got one question... which "assassin droid" are they talking about? I looked up "Star wars assassin droid" and found HK-47 (I remembered because my sister plays KOTOR) but that's it. Is it like that IG-88 guy that came with the Slave I? Cause they look identical besides a black bracket. I'm not mad anymore and I'm pumped up for the set, just wondering.
  10. Even if you get the battle packs for Christmas, they're usually meant for the next year. The Clones and Droids are for 2007, the Stormtroopers and Rebels for 2008. Sometimes they're released early for some apperant reason. However, in two days, the cash rolls in majorly. So who knows my friend?
  11. I'm not talking about all the movie stuff and I couldn't care less about accuracy. As long as it's a big grey ball with a circle on it and lasers. Did you see the youtube video someone posted on here? (thanks to them). There's about 10,000 geeks screaming "where's the thermal exhaust port?!" and "the death star gun DOES NOT move up and down!" Honestly, I didn't know the gun can't at least shift around. I learned something. And maybe you should too. Sometimes, people RANT because they're overreacting. It's like when women cry for no apperant reason... because they want to cry. Well I wanted to rant. But anyways, I wanted to apologize. I went way out of hand and honestly, I guess I was overreacting. I'll edit it out so that it makes more sense. My sig means that no matter how many sets in Star Wars people didn't like or just plain bombed, there's about 100 Galidors to back it up. News for next time- don't accuse people of bitching around if you don't get the sig.
  12. It got an above average. Extremely nice for its time. But even then, it must have looked a little bit plain, as well as only having one fig. But still, this old set's got some serious charm. It has your basic bricks and adds something unique to a police force... the ability to kick some baddie brick over water. Plus, the red (they couldn't have used black, white or clear ) weight on the bottom seems like an interesting idea. Does it work very well? Oh, and thanks for the review!
  13. That's pretty funny. Seems like Hawke's made quite an influence, no? The Final Fantasy portion was pretty funny, too. Keep up the awesome work and I'll keep up the awesome reading.
  14. The increase in price isn't just so that LEGO can save itself from exchange rates. It's so that they can make a profit when people buy new sets, as compared to old sets, if they're an AFOL. AFOL's of course have the tendency (more like the immediate motive) to buy older sets due to their nostalgic feel. LEGO claims they're trying to revive things, and it becomes hit news on Eurobricks. You ever go into TRU and find the set you want, pathetic and small as it is, gone? And then you see someone walking out with all 50 of them in a giant burlap sack? That's because nostalgia can be recreated. See Indy LEGO. Out of stock in a flash at my store, because with kids wanting to try out this new theme, teens wanting to buy something they're just getting into and adults wanting to have a plastic version of their favourite movie... man they've got it made. Not as long ago as you may think, LEGO managed to create adult interest with the UCS Star Destroyer. Who has the money? No one. But adults have much more than kids or teens. With adults hooked on both buying 1989 sets on Bricklink AND buying that giant chess set, LEGO has it made. As well, would you buy the Death Star if it was 100 bucks? I wouldn't, imagine how poor the quality would be. Giant pieces... everywhere. If it were 1000$ dollars? I couldn't buy it, but I'd want to anyway. Maybe the random adult could. And think... with all those random adults around the world? That's at least 10,000$ they're getting out of adults alone. Collectables are expensive because it makes them exclusive. No one wants a 10$ collectable, they'd throw it away. Admit it... it isn't really that collectable unless it's twice as much as it should be. Maybe I should change my name for the third time to Palpatine... I act like I know everything. Seriously...
  15. Ahaha... useless mortal.
  16. Nicely done. Looks like your gap solution has helped a lot of people.
  17. Great MOC. I love the armour on this transport, the green looks perfect and your ARC Trooper inside looks... just plain cool. The only problem is very minor and of course you shouldn't listen to... those blue hinges on the inside. Please, replace them. They burn my eyes, they stick out a little too much to be such a vibrant blue colour.
  18. Your smallest UCS set would be the Naboo Fighter at 40$. Your largest UCS set would be the Millennium Falcon at 500$. Great thinking as usual, Faramir. We SHOULD have some small, small UCS sets. Things that can accompany the larger ones. Maybe at the largest, an 800 piece Tie Fighter to go with the Tie Advanced and all? At the smallest? I'm thinking a 250 piece Darth Maul Speeder Bike. Maybe a Trade Federation Droid Tank, at 700 pieces or so? Maybe they could combine multiple ships, like the Obi-Wan Jedi Starfighter and Anakin's Jedi Starfighter. Maybe a Delta or ETA with about 600 pieces. A UCS Landspeeder would be awesome. Besides, I can't afford a 100$ ship everytime I want a quality set!
  19. Perfect! I really like your design here! Weird as the ship is I'd certainly fly it. That's because you've made a highly convincing MOC with perfect detail. The only thing that I don't like is that link you sent with the loud loud music! Keep making more... 37's a lot, but I'm definite you can do it. Making UCS ships is your strength obviously. My favourite part of your MOC is the cockpit... like you said, one of the hardest parts. There's just so much detail here, from the side guns to the greebles in the back. Amazing job!
  20. I think he's talking about acting like an admin. But he just means that sometimes, admins don't take their jobs being taken wisely...
  21. Very good review. You should combine this with the earlier review... the first guy had no text but hundreds of awesome pictures... and you have good evalutations and nice text but no pictures! Not that I blame either. May or may not get this, due to the DS.
  22. True that Oky. Besides, 2009 might have some completely new concept that beats this by far, who knows? As for this set alone... it's okay. I could have boughten this set elsewhere. If they sold this (the BP, Hailfire Droid and Rex's Clone Battalion) as a whole set, before these were released seperately before... it would sell. But now, it's a blast from the past (last year) and early this year which honestly... no one cares about.
  23. I like the set, but that can't be exactly how they're planning on releasing it. Those yellow stickers for the lights/windows/whatever look... horrible, compared to the just plain white stickers! The design is airy but actually with good reason and I really like the look of everything. That Palpatine looks to be a just plain awesome fig, maybe my favourite one yet. But like Walter Kovacs, I've held back in saying something- there's way too much space here. And What's with the holes on the floor in the Emperor's Throne Room? I finally remembered that there was "bridge", like in the movie. Umm... where's the railing? I'm not particular but I just in LEGO sense... Palpy's gonna fall off on his own! I remember RAILING, not some weird walkway... never mind. The rest of the throne room is PERFECT, but there's something weird with the green R2 bodies in the corner. I understand they could be containers, but just as a single brick they look too plain. Maybe a lid would work, otherwise they really don't serve a purpose. The chasm scene looks... excellent, just like how it should have been. The circular control thing outside of the detention block is skimping: just a bunch of monitors on 1X2 slope bricks (which is okay but...) and that's it? It's fine, but I think it could have been better. Perfect laser guns on the top, now I remember THOSE from the movie, awesome design there. The central elevator, and I'll let loose on this particular thing... just looks like crap. I remember there being one. But it's just a platform with string in the middle! It doesn't make much of an elevator... and for 500 bucks, I think we deserve a bit more, no? Maybe some buttons on it or something. But on the other hand... It's still 10/10. :P I dunno why, but I love this set now that I've given it a verbal beating. I want it so much, gonna save up. EDIT: Re-edited the post because I was just in a bad mood... or something. EDIT: The R2 Bodies aren't official, I don't think. They aren't in the catologue, meaning they probably won't be in the set. Dunno what it was, they just... bugged me. :D
  24. That's seriously cool, and I sort of want one now. Sort of. It looks nice but it's not as if there's a lot of press surrounding it. I'll think about it.
  25. I liked... Harley Quinn. Cool vehicle she has. She was funny in the animated series and of course has loads of comic support. That hat's just great and so is the torso, along with her legs which make a complete jester/harlequinn outfit- though that menacing face certainly does make her look unique. I like the Joker too, probably second favourite, because I agree... he seems to have a few whiskers. Or rather wrinkles that look like whiskers. But he's got a great vehicle and I love his role in TDK (not to spoil it). I hope Harley Quinn's in the next movie! I'd like that...
