  1. I think you misunderstood me I meant put a 1x2 brick in the gap between the 2x2 brick and the sleeper of the track, so that when the log comes round, the technic bricks under the log hit the 1x2 brick, and so stop turning. The technic axle could still pass over, as it is higher up. Edit: Just tried it. You need an extra 1x2 plate/tile on top of the 1x2 brick to make it work, but it does.
  2. I've been experimenting with printing decals recently, as part of a Castle project. I can get them to the right size, and non-pixellated - everything is fine in that regard. However, when I print them out, all the colours (except black) end up as non-pure - there are little specs of white in there, which make the colour go lighter, and thus it doesn't match normal Lego colours (I'm using Shadows' colour chart). For this project it doesn't matter, as the edges of the decals completely cover the bricks underneath, and are surrounded by other-colour bricks, but it would be helpful for future planning. I've tried darkening the original image, but the white specs still remain, and make it look odd. I also set the print quality to high (rather than normal), but that didn't help. Any suggestions? I'm using standard A4 paper, and an inkjet printer.
  3. 70. 71. 72. 73. 74. 75. 76. 77. 78. 79. 80. 81. 82. 83. 84.
  4. Thanks for the review! All these Indy sets look very useful for MOCing parts (especially the "new" colours - dark tan, dark brown, bley ), and the minifigs keep on improving. I'd like to see minifigs like these in Castle and Pirate, rather than the somewhat identical/same parts-rehash at the moment. This one looks out of my price range, and track-sets don't have too much appeal for me, but we'll see. With the "log trap" (call it that for now), would relacing the 2x2 brown brick with a 2x3 brick, so that the extra 1x2 was on the track-side, prevent the log turning around for the Thuggees? Then no hand-of-god would be necessary.
  5. Nice fortress - simple yet effective! (and, of course, the howitzer is great) Is that guy getting hoisted by a petard, or is it a cannonball coming in? And is the song the same tune as the Battle of New Orleans?
  6. Inches, right? The triangular sail should be 12cmx18cm, so, assuming that you're resizing in Word, just format the size to that. The other sail is the right size, more or less (19cmx13cm), although having recently released the RR in my possession to ISC, I can't confirm
  7. Now, Cunningham is fat -
  8. Good start! That mountain will look great! The recession of the bley road into the mountain is also nice. The mansion is coming along well, and I've always been a fan of those gates in conjunction with any Imperial-style building. I also like the furled sails, although aren't they on the wrong side of the masts? A few suggestions - The masts are a bit close together on the ship - it looks kinda dumpy. The bley rocks look a bit artificial, as they end so sharply on the harbour side. You could add an extra layer to make it flush with the wall, if you're going for the cut-away look. (Nice barrier ) Keep it up and I look forawrd to the final piece Wooden board works best. Slide it under the baseplates from behind first, then under the SNOT, to stop the SNOT breaking up as much. Or, as the SNOT isn't attached to those bley rocks, you could remove the whole SNOT part from the main bit easily. A few 1x2s here and there would give a tiled effect without the bulk parts/rebuilding.
  9. All the best games are Liverpool - Liverpool 3 West Ham 3 (FA Cup Final) Liverpool 3 AC Milan 3 (Champion's League) Liverpool 5 Luton 3 (FA Cup) Liverpool 4 Chelsea 4 (Champion's League) Liverpool 4 Arsenal 4 (Premiership) Liverpool 7 Birmingham 0 (FA Cup) Liverpool 8 Besiktas 0 (Champion's League) No surprise here, I'm a Liverpool fan! Even though I live 10 minutes walk from Emirates/Highbury
  10. Thanks guys! They can't sit down, and thus their arms do not stay inside the carriage at all times It generally helps, yes. But I'm having a bit of a break now, as there's no pressing contests. I tried with blue hints, but it ended up looking like blueberry yoghurt And trans hints only made it look more like snow/ice. I also couldn't be bothered to work out where to put the blue to make it look better
  11. I think they'd look quite fetching with the standard morion helmet. Which in itself should come in bley... You could go with a trimmed-down ninja sword, or the ultra-rare black shortsword
  12. Visit the Sail Library. There aren't any dimensions there, but if you print the sails straight out, they come out real size, so that should help. The triangle sail is the same size as all the other triangular sails, if you have any
  13. For the FRS Shakespeare I had originally tried to put light into the light on the main deck (just visible here) and into three crystal-ball lanterns on the stern-castle. I got all the wiring worked out fine, but I had problems with getting a power source of the right strength (too low -> doesn't light up; too high -> blows LEDs). I ended up blowing all of the LEDs (non-LifeLites), which was a waste, but in future I'll be more careful. Enough of the anecdote, it just shows that yes, it would be possible, especially with better equipment. If you're going to use the standard palm-tree-top/lantern part, it could be difficult, as there would be little area to conceal the wire. From what I've seen of LifeLites, you need a technic half-pin area to harbour the light, and a hole at least of bar width for the wire.

    Blasphemy!

  That's hilarious! Some mf my Fabuland figs have had attempted mutilation on them (eBay ) - there's a deep gash in one of their necks (halfway, nearly), reminiscent of a hacksaw cut, and there's considerable roughness and a groove across the back of a pair of legs, similar to when a saw comes out of the groove, and slides across te surface. I'll admit that when I first discovered Brickshelf and saw all the custom weapons, I wanted to do my own. I took 3 of my chipped chrome silver swords and cut them into crude shapes similar to the Brickforge ones, and painted them. Today they're in my box of broken parts I'll never customize non-broken parts again. At one point I also saw it a good idea to snap the one-piece road-signs off their bases  And then there was the time I shot a minifig out of my crossbow, shattering its arms and hands and cracking the torso.
  15. Congratulations to the runners-up aswell - Erdbeereis, General Armendariz and Broadside!
  16. 1x Life on Mars alien 7x Battle droids (various types) 1x Giant troll 1x ghost 14x skeletons (various types) 12x Fabulanimals 1x Technic maxifig 269x minifig heads (11 blank) 219x minifig torsos (not sure about arms/hands, but it probably doesn't add up) 220x minifig leg assembly (including 5 2x2x2 slope skirts, 4 stubbies, 4 spare individual legs) So all in all, I can make 219 full minifigs, 37 debatably-minifig things (256 in total), and one of these - with the remaining pair of legs, if I so wished I'm surprised about the legs outweighing the torsos though, as I only buy torsos off BL...
  17. At the Club Event in 2003, there was a build-your-own-miniland-hockey-player-thing, and also a large Hogwarts MOC (there were more, but I can't remember them). There was also an NBA arena (glued together) to play with. Would that sound right for a Brickish event? Some of it may have been official Legoland stuff, but the Hogwarts MOC was definitely fan-built (I even met the builders )
  18. They'd also be useful for various sorts of bird (crows and ravens especially), like the ones here - Top left, top right.
  19. It's worth noting that the Castaway comes with the semi-rare Dumbledore hair, as opposed to the rag-hat in Loot Island, which is a plus. There'll be plenty. Each minifig will take up one day, as will the swordfish and the raft shown. The monkey will probably be on its own, with the banana. That's 11 days, leaving 14 for various accessories. As each minifig comes with a weapon, each of the remaining 14 days will be small Impulse-style builds
  20. It'll be a cheap way to get a lot of minifigs - I'm guessing it'll be for the same price as the Castle one last year (£12.99). It's a pity there isn't one more minifig, like in the castle one, but I guess the monkey makes up for about a skeleton in manufacturing cost. I agree about the Imperials though - two identical torsos Although the one with the shako's hand is partly obscuring his face - could it be a new one? I don't recognise that glimpse of an eyebrow... Remember, it's preliminary, so please don't post the actual picture, just the link
  21. Troll Battle Wheel for me! It's just like a caravan, only bigger and with less wheels. Trouble with most sets is that they don't have ladders/stairs/back walls - I guess minifigs have very good insulation and levitation abilities.
  22. I'll just bump this to say what a great vig I think it is. The floor is fantastic, as are all the kitchen-ey details, but it's the subtle cannonball coming through the window that stands out for me
  23. Looks really good! The rapier blade looks a little like it's made of the same stuff as the Bionicle spine from Troll Assault Wagon and Skeleton Prison Carriage e.t.c - is that so? Maybe it's the remnants of the original background around the edge... Good luck in the contest, too!
