Thanks for the kind words! I needed it. Sadly, I don't think I can cange the colour of the deck or upper hull, or add more lids on the gun ports, at least, right now - I don't have enough parts. My primary inspiration were Marshall's paintings, which "allowed" me such compromises. I think I shall try to add more furniture to the captain's cabin though. These were great suggestions, thank you @Cousarmy0001!

Thank you so much! I've got a small white kitten, but I'm not sure if it can deal with the mice...

How does it prove anything? Tell me something I don't know It also matters what is shown on screen, and how it is shown. I may hate Sequels, but after seeing FO troops burn down and massacre an entire village and wondering who's financially backing those guys, I can safely assume they're fascist. Which I sadly cannot say about the OT Empire, who are mostly shown as a military dealing with an armed Rebellion. Blowing up a planet is obviously a bad thing to do, but not strictly fascist. And the Galactic population is beyond any imagination Also, the CIS are fascist - because of their origin and methods. Those two factors matter first Also, everyone calls the regime from Starship troopers fascist for some reason. But propaganda on TV and large peaked caps don't necessarily and strictly mean fascism

If we're touching the aesthetic, the Rebels' uniforms are directly inspired by the Wermacht, unlike the Empire's: Again and again, I don't think that anyone here understands what fascism and nazism are. It's just the goddamn Goodwin law Batman also got accused of being fascist. Because he wears a black cloak, I guess...

It's a DC thread, and I want to discuss Star Wars, not violently debate. The Empire wasn't inspired by the 3 Reich, despite what anyone says. As I said, the aesthetic doesn't make one a follower of some political movement I never said that the Empire were good. It's just my prsonal headcanon. My point was that being chaotic evil doesn't work for them. There are much better ways to show that someone is evil. @Renny The Spaceman, you said that the question on whether Superman is a superhero or not is next. I answer: the Homelander is also a superhero (DC wiki formerly calling him an adventurer was wrong). The problem is that he's very different from Superman. He's basically Superman, raised by a Megacorporation instead of Kansas farmers. The Joker being evil is of no debate

We didn't. President Truman said this only not to look dumb after his previous statement that the Russians are too stupid in general to create an atomic bomb themselves. Everything that the modern Russian intelligence is boasting of is gibberish. It's hard to argue with people who accuse me of justifying the destruction of Alderaan (which I didn't), yet think that the nuclear bombings were completely normal and totally justified - because Stalin wanted to "enslave" the entire Western Europe! Not some imaginary planet was blown up - thousands of real people were murdered, thousands wounded the most henious way possible. People who were totally not guilty of IJA's atrocious warcrimes (not remembered now anywhere in the Western world). That's what I call moral values dissonance. The aesthetic has nothing to do with morality. From that point of view, Batman is totally a fascist. When someone calls anyone a fascist, they don't understand the meaning of the word because Dimitrov's definition is unknown to anyone. Dude may wear a long black trenchcoat and do brutal things, but it doesn't make him a fascist (again, the beforementioned Batman, whom I don't like as a person, but calling him a fascist is obviously stupid). Dude may wear a nice suit and do fascist things (Lex Luthor), but that's totally different. He may in fact be the story's good guy! I desperately want to cease debating, seeing that it's utterly pointless, but I can't help myself. I just wish this thread is closed for further replies as soon as possible. DC is dead. Batman is dead. WB is dead. Long live whatever replaces them.

[D13 - DS] - Thrawn's childhood dream

Thanks! -
Edit: I just realised that my sails were utterly disgraceful. Replaced them with more appropriate. Pictures replaced

Thanks for the appreciation! No, it's just 1 mm twine rope

This is my second attempt to build a Lego redcoat ship. My first attempt was a complete, total and utter disgrace. Just like my previous ship, this one is loosely based on the 1770 British sloop-of-war HMS Kingsfisher. I decided to call her HMS Flycatcher - the flycatcher is a bird, just like the kingfisher, and it was the name of a cute Royal navy carrier-based biplane fighter. Here are some closeup photos: As a bonus - here's a picture of the ship without 'rigging' (it's only basic on the finished model) and sails: Thanks for watching! I shall gladly answer your questions in the comment section. P. S. : please forgive me for the ugly background

Jar Jar was initially supposed to be the Sith lord distracting the Jedi from discoveing that Palpatine is the master Sith . I was talking about Russian White Guards - yes, they were Hitler's allies during WWII and his direct inspirers Henceforth I shall silence myself and wait till the thread shall take itself more seriously

[D13 - DS] - Thrawn's childhood dream

Thanks for the appreciation! I hope to finish the story as soon as possible -
I can discuss this endlessly, but endlessly typing answers is a little hard. I thought you guys hated Ewoks You don't understand what a horrible thing Nazism is. It's not just a political chiche, applied to any fictional villain. Yes, and, I agree, with some wishful thinking. Even the punks who served the Nazis didn't really believe the ideology: all they wanted was to satisfy their lust for violence. Yes, that's exactly what I meant - invading the USSR the way he did (his decisions were clearly influenced by emigrants' propaganda) was his absolute worst decision. I honestly didn't want to walk into that territory, but you guys kept mentioning Hitler and the Nazis. Let's stop this insanity. I respect your opinions and am grateful for the interesting discussion, but now I'm exhausted

I never said that. All I said was Alderaan wasn't a peaceful planet. Also, my headcanons are based on logical conclusions and common sense. But it's much harder to explain than I imagined it... By the way, @Renny The Spaceman, you reminded me of my theory that the Alderaanians were warned and had time to flee (well, except for Bail Organa, who was just overconfident). It's not based on anything, but considering the INSANE amounts of surviving Alderaanians both in Legends and Canon, it's not such a crazy theory after all... Overall, as Anakin from one ytp put it: "From my point of view, I am evil". Jonkling, of course

I agree. But it should be noted that the Separatist ideology, while attractive to some, was peak space fascism. But it was wrong from the very beginning. If you suspect someone of hiding potential spies (voluntarily or not), it doesn't mean those suspicious citizens should be treated that way). Alderaan wasn't peaceful (supporting the Rebellion), they had weapons (again)! Doesn't justify anything, but Leia is a liar. Tarkin just didn't want to argue with her, he was pressed to learn the location of the Rebel base. The Rebel base obviously had a shield, powerful enough to withstand any Star Destroyer bombardment. They knew the exact location of the fortress and were patiently waiting until it was in range. The planet-killing BATTLE station is designed primarily to destroy enemy fortresses and large capital ships, designed to withstand a full-scale military assault and vulnerable to snub fighters. It's safe to assume that terrorising local systems (which weren't necessarily part of the Empire - in fact, I am pretty sure they weren't) was only a secondary purpose. Needa was an idiot. Deserved such a harsh measure taken. Dictators are pawns of their country's (or foreign) all powerful financial capital: Admiral Kolchak, Mr. H., Rhee Syngman and Pinochet were all that way. He didn't: Hitlerjugend kids maybe, but they're just kids. The rest of the population were terrorised by the Gestapo and silenced. Hitler was an idiot: he 'ruled' most of Europe and lost everything due to trusting Russian emigrants' lies way too much. Probably yes, but Maul wasn't that way until he ceased being Palpy's apprentice. In TPM he's very calm and silent and keeps his anger and hatred in an iron fist. Guess we'll best the SW thread by discussing SW, lol Because you can't compare the Galactic Empire to German Nazis - it's incorrect. The Empire doesn't have such an atrocious ideology, and I sincerely doubt it has got a financial capital The only thing I liked about Jo Jo rabbit is the idea that only kids supported the Nazis, but could be easily disillusioned. The rest was cringe Because the OT is not about the politics - it's about civil war (both sides are portrayed neutrally enough, without any political declarations) and morals (the Jedi lied to Luke on SOO many levels...) For me, Ben Kenobi is the genius master manipulator and the true villain of the OT. The Prequels are very different. I agree that Prequels Sith and Palps are evil, but don't consider them canon. And let's not forget that those are imaginary characters. And Palpatine, whether you like him or not, is not like Sauron, Darksied or other pure evil villains. And I'm not talking about maniacs like Zsasz

[D13 - DS] - Thrawn's childhood dream
Max_Lego replied to Max_Lego's topic in Mysteries: A Star Wars Role-Playing Game
Thank you very much! Appreciated. That's the part of which I am very proud of. When I first read Timothy Zahn's Thrawn books, I also wondered why Thrawn doesn't really have any genuine artworks. Baron Vonreg helped me understand this. Thank you again! To be honest, I didn't really handle Thrawn well and he's kinda jerky here but, again, maybe it's in-character for him to be that way... -
The first thing about true fascist regimes is the cold rationality of the crimes and atrocities they commit. The Nazi death camp system was well designed to benefit Krupp, Messerschmitt, Porsche and other rich people of Germany, for example. Stupid irrational atrocities that make absolutely zero sense and are not quite possible IRL remind me of something else... We have a different understanding of how the Dark Side works. I strongly believe that, in order to become a powerful Sith lord, you must master the negative emotions, not succumb to them. That's why the true Sith are so calm, respectful and fearless - they mastered their anger, hatred and fear, not suppressed them like the Jedi. The idea of a galactic ruler being an evil dictator simply because he's a Sith Lawd is weird to me. Sure, Count Dooku is the real space fascist, warmonging and ruling for the benefit of the Trade Federation, Banking Clan, etc, but him seeking more power is justified. Palpatine doesn't really do anything wrong in the OT, and his secret leadership of the Separatists in the Prequels lead to their ultimate destruction ...And please, let's not get too political, please

LEGO Star Wars 2024 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Max_Lego replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Agreed. Looks better than it could've looked like if they had black boots though. This ARC-170 looks very small compared to the previous versions, and it also looks nice. Funny that the box's background is the "Execute order 66" scene - obviously a tie-in for Plo Koon's microfighter, huh? -
Star Wars Mysteries Life Day Contest
Max_Lego replied to MKJoshA's topic in Mysteries: A Star Wars Role-Playing Game
What about the Life Day celebration on Hoth, where General Veers left his garrison and Major Enric Pryde came to replace him? Worth celebrating! -
Yeah but, like, ourigh enslave them? Isn't it too much? I prefer what was shown in SW: Holiday special, honestly: Wookies living under the Empire not much worse than anyone else. Besides, the interactions between Chewbacca and the Stormtroopers in the OT (most specifically in the Mos Eisley cantina) don't suggest he used to be a slave. Well, the Chiss may be very nationalistic and militarictic, but they aren't really a threat to the Empire since they are interested in it even less than Palps and Thrawn are interested in them. Why bother, indeed? The Empire has problems of its own. Well, I now think that my "open enemies" statement is a little too much; more like "dangerous tensions". If Alderaan was part of the Empire, it would've been ruled by an Imperial governor, who would've successfully resolved the tensions with the planetary government one way or another. Sending a diplomatic mission to a system you control (you don't) makes not much sense - such missions are sent to external allies (like Corellia), neutral planets (like Tatooine - yes, Tatooone is by no means in the Empire!) or enemies (to resolve tension) - out of the three Alderaan is clearly the latter. Yes, it wasn't a military target - yet it doesn't mean it didn't have a military of its own: an Alderaanian military base would've qualified as a military target, but the entire planet didn't. By the way, why does everyone believe that Tarkin wanted to destroy the entire moon of Yavin? He obviously only wanted to blow up the Rebel base on the surface. The civil war is between the Empire and a small Rebellion that doesn't have a planet of origin, supported by external enemies of the Empire like Alderaan. Where did they get all those 'wonderful' toys from? Had Vader choked Antilles, the latter wouldn't have been capable of speaking. Vader was questioning him, and he absolutely wanted the captain to speak. To be fair, it's Vader who called Ozzel through Skype and it wasn't the reason Ozzy was executed. Dude was very resistant to discovering the Rebel base and most likely alerted the Rebels deliberately. When I said Prequels were bad, I was incorrect: they are actually pretty good movies. They were my first Star Wars movies (TPM specifically - that's why I like the character of Jar Jar Binks), and I used to admire the Clones (but it has more to do with Filoni's TCW, tbh). Now I genuinely enjoy the memes. My only problem is that they contradict the OT way too much and, therefore, I can't consider them Canon - much like I don't consider Batman: mystery of Batwoman to be TNBA canon (because of Bruce Wayne's claim that Penguin tried to blow up Gotham the last time they met, which contradicts TNBA episode "Joker's millions") I still don't like the transparent shoulder armor though
