Post your Pirate Crew: Pirate Figbarfs
Max_Lego replied to Captain Braunsfeld's topic in LEGO Pirates
Now that I've built the Redcoat ship of my dream, I think I should post a picture of her new crew here! From left to right: the Lady, the Captain, the Lieutenant, the Admiral (my younger brother, having read books by Patrick O'Brien, suggested to make him an oppressive grumpy man), the Drummer, the Observation Officer on a Montgolfier and, of course, the Pirates of the Children seas! Sadly, the Quartermaster and Cook aren't shown, because they are still stationed ot the ship's quarterdeck, but you can see them on the pictures in the beforementioned topic -
I was not satisfied with my younger brother's 31109 Pirate ship, believing it to be unrealistic. I thought that the best option for a pirate ship, built out of 31109 parts, would be a sloop. The Eurobricks Alt-Build Contest motivated me to rebuild the set and submit the result as an entry. Now I reworked my MOC with parts, not included in the set, to make it look more believable. This included adding paper sails and small cannons, and, of course, a Pirate crew! I decided to call them "Pirates of the Children seas" because of how childish they look. Nevertheless, I like the finished result - after all, they are the only Pirates I can afford now. What do you think about these guys?

Here's a new character I crafted - TNBA killer Croc. If you have noticed, I usually base my customs off TNBA designs - I don't think this one in particular is much better than the B:TAS one (though I am not a fan of the original either), I just prefer TNBA to B:TAS overall. ...I sometimes think that I am the only TNBA fan in the world. Some people may enjoy it, but somehow everyone agrees that B:TAS is better. Indeed, TAS had some gem episodes (my favourite is "Heart of ice", a tear-jerking one), but TNBA had some good stories, no stupid episodes like "I've got Batman in my basement" or "The Mechanic" (my least favourite ones are "Cult of the cat" and, ironically, "Legends of the Dark Knight", both of them being pretty solid), more mature storytelling overall (no, I am not talking about the lewdness and violence, though I don't mind them) and, IMAO, more decent animation. The show's distinctive simplified Timm style allowed the artists to minimise mistakes (let's just say some B:TAS episodes didn't have an animation as good as the beforementioned "Heart of ice"), and I like most of the redesigns and personality changes (the Riddler's redesign is outright horrid though, and I used to dislike Joker's black eyes, only now realising what a brilliant idea they were). I am a strong believer of the theory that TNBA is a completely separate, different, albeit with some similarities, continuity than B:TAS, the only media sharing it with TNBA being S:TAS. Now TLG produces TAS sets, I hope, but seriously doubt, that they would realise TNA-based ones, for how generally disliked it is. Which I think is not fair, since it deserves more love from fans... Sorry for the off-topic. I just don't really have an opportunity to express my opinion...

Maybe Superman will receive a line of sets in the second half of 2025? Perhaps we just don't know about it yet...

[Alt-Build Contest] 76962 Baby Bumpy: Ankylosaurus
Max_Lego replied to 6180HydroSearchSub's topic in LEGO Licensed
Thank you for the appreciation! -
The Batcave we didn't need, but the Batcave we deserved... Not to mention that the Batmobile is now an old, rusty muscle car
-
That's outrageous! That's... fair (your point, not the situation). I currently think if we're getting an 400$ Arkham and 100$ Batcave next year, Lego DC is still alive. ...And if you dew it, I shall join you in your heroic quest to bring TLG to justice. A Nolan Batcave is the last thing we need. Even if it has a Robin Blake minifigure. A decent Ledger Joker minifigure, on the other hand, may change my mind... DC is dying. Too bad its classics aren't cult enough for TLG to produce full lines of sets, based on them. They are more nostalgia than cult, actually...
-
You may throw rocks at me, but I'm not disappointed in the lack of Superman sets - I just wish the Batcave is decent, no matter what it's based on (yet B:TAS Batcave would be VERY welcome for me, especially if the infamous TNBA Batgirl is included). The price suggests that it's not a Shadowbox Is Lego Marvel dying together with Lego DC? The only decent set for me is the Spider-Verse one, the rest are plain weird IMHO. Even if it is, that's not good for Lego DC

[Alt-Build Contest] 76962 Baby Bumpy: Ankylosaurus
Max_Lego replied to 6180HydroSearchSub's topic in LEGO Licensed
Looks very nice! Building a Rock Raiders mech out af a baby Ankylosaurus was a great idea, and you nailed it Totally agreed. That's one of the many reasons why I only build IRL -
Thank you very much! Yes, that's exactly the idea - I wanted the ship to look more realistic
-
Thanks! I tried my best

Agreed with everything you said, sadly even with the 'tiny overpriced Arkham set' jonke

[O17-DS] Sold Out on Naboo
Max_Lego replied to A_Goodman's topic in Mysteries: A Star Wars Role-Playing Game
Thanks for clarifying, @Sentinel_Brix! Too bad I didn't know that Coruscant is still an Imperial world (which somehow makes sense) and is ruled by Amedda (I prefer him to Isard - the closest person to Papa Palps, after all). Rax should've contacted him! Honestly, I don't think that Theed needs any 'Imperial influence', since it's already a beautiful city with little free space. Besides, I am sure Theed is a place of historical heritage, and adding something new to it would be against the law -
Thank you so much, @Franco Clarke! To be honest, my first attempt failed mostly due to my then unwillingness of using white hull parts (a stupid mistake) and lack of tan pieces (for this second version, most parts were ordered on BrickLink). Sadly, I have little imagination, but I still could add more interior details. Thanks for the suggestion! By the way, I forgot to mention that it was Your magnificent galleon that inspired me to rework my sails completely.

[O17-DS] Sold Out on Naboo
Max_Lego replied to A_Goodman's topic in Mysteries: A Star Wars Role-Playing Game
Looks very beautiful! The architecture of Theed is very nicely captured. Great job! How could the New Republic troops infiltrate an Imperial world unnoticed while wearing their distinctive uniforms? I know that the Empire's security measures are bad, but... it's somehow wrong, isn't it? Also, Captain Screed may be an Intelligence officer, but why is he heading to Coruscant? Are the New Republic's defences equally bad (or even worse) as the Empire's? No offence here, I'm just curious -
Thanks! Appreciated. Since the source material was much larger than my build, my ship's details are imaginary, yet I am glad you liked them!

Very interesting background for a Lego ship MOC! Magnificent work. The ship looks absolutely splendid

[ENTRY TOPIC] Eurobricks Alt-Build Contest 2025
Max_Lego replied to Clone OPatra's topic in Special LEGO Themes
31109 Pirate ship alternative build (Large category, pseudo Bermuda sloop) Since it was a Creator set, I posted it in Special Lego themes, not the Pirate section -
31109 Pirate ship alternative build (category: large, RRP: $119.99). It's a sloop from the 18th century. Sadly, I didn't use all parts of the original. I wanted to see if I could build a sloop from the 31109 set, and I am not sure if I succeeded; nevertheless, I apply it to the contest, despite it being a very simlar concept to the original set and therefore losing Originality points. After all, I built a ship MOC out of a ship set The sloop has a rudder, that can be controlled by a minifigure on the deck: It also has a small cargo hold: Here's a bottom view of the ship to prove that it was built only out of 31109 parts: I hope you like it
-
Yeah, you're right. The main set we have information about now is the Tumbler, which looks worse than its predecessor from 2021. An affordable Ledger Joker minifigure is always welcome, but without the leg printing it pales compared to the previous two. Harvey looks like he's from Pete Holmes' Badman. But at least, Lego DC is not dead. Not yet... Honestly, it's great that we're getting a 400$ whatever Arkham. I hope that the minifigure section won't disappoint anyone... I thought he always stays in the Batcave... And didn't we get Red Robin in 2012? Albeit the minifigure looked like a compromise
-
Let's wait for Arkham images then. Then there will be something to discuss
-
Please stop these invalid accusations. I may joke a little, but it's not my fault no one understands my points. Let's stop all those thread wars and discuss Lego DC

I reworked the bowsprit sails. Replaced photos with those of better quality (I hope)
