[POLL] Rate the 10365 Captain Jack Sparrow's Pirate Ship
bingowaldorf replied to Yperio_Bricks's topic in LEGO Pirates
I would be more interested in a less expensive play set. The price plus the fact that it's just a display model kinda kills it for me. If it was more like the new barracuda with an actual interior I would have been more into it. -
I could not find any coral colors parts but here is some color comparisons. I think it is reddish orange as well.

I have never seen them on pab. But if you have a lego store near you they usually let you get 9 pieces of whatever you want. So you don't need to get a full figure you could just get 9 torsos.

The bandage piece makes for a decent bandana. I got this one from 60459.

I used these files recently to print sails with success. They are scans from 10210 traced over in illustrator as a pure black and white image so that I could get best results from a basic laser printer. I don’t know if they would work with an inkjet printer as I have not tried that but if you set it to black and white mode that might do the trick. For scaling I opened each image in pages and just did test prints at different sizes until I got what I needed. Here is a google drive link, if there is a better way to share files on this forum please let me know how and I will update this. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1HP3mfuD6Iw1ELpLyGG_vVczk9dEx57u9

Great work! I love how the aged walls of the fort look.

[OFFICIAL] Pirate Quartermaster - Collectible Minifigure Series 27

I like her a lot! The gold bling really says this person is in a position of authority.(at a glance she could even be the captain!) I might get multiples to get a few extra cockatoo, but with such an extravagant outfit I’m not sure if multiple figures would fit into one crew. -
Yes, I was surprised to see the water was made from teal bricks. Overall it is a nice little build and I like the printed gold plaque. The box is a generic yellow box and the instructions show through a cutout to make the picture on the front. If one were to spend their vip points on a discount instead of this set I think it would be about $18USD. Pirate ship gift with purchase by Captian Bubbles, on Flickr

Since many classic sets used lego pieces still available today, I wondered if there were any classic pirates sets that I could build using brand-new pieces from pick-a-brick. Obviously the classic colors and figures are no longer around, but I tried my hand at recreating these three smaller classic sets using only parts available on pick a brick service. Pirate Lookout: The only part I had to substitute for this one was the old style flag for the new style. Price to buy from lego is $8.17. Pirate Lookout by Captian Bubbles, on Flickr Shipwrecked Pirate: For this one I had to change the oar color from red to brown. Price to buy from lego is $6.17 Shipwrecked pirate by Captian Bubbles, on Flickr Smugglers Shanty: This one needed the most changes. The 6x12 plate got swapped for a 6x10, the old style coins swapped for printed tiles, and the boat/oars changed colors. Price to buy from lego is $19.16 smugglers shanty by Captian Bubbles, on Flickr An interesting note is that while the regular bricks and plates are more expensive than bricklink, mini figures and accessories are less expensive. For Shipwrecked Pirate the flag piece is a 1/3rd of the entire price! If one wanted to explore this route it might be advantageous to split things up between the two services.

Looks great! Did you make the flag yourself?

I love the colors here, it kinda looks like Neapolitan ice cream sandwich! This ship is such a good size and I think if it were a set it is definitely something I would have loved to play with as a kid. I really really like the jail cell in the bow; it's a very clever use of space. -
I was very excited to participate in this contest and really enjoyed seeing what other people came up with. Big thank you to everyone who helped organize it! I don't think for any future contests I would ever participate in the creative critic. I don't think that feedback is a bad thing, I just don't want to be critical of anyones hard work. If you wanted to change up voting for future contests would having judges instead of voters make things easier?

I like it! It kinda reminds me of this old Tortuga moc
