  1. Nice mocs, simple but detailed!
  2. Well, welcome fellow infected, you have come to the right place! What kind of things are you inventing? @ErfinderDesRades
  3. Honestly, yeah it does. I mean, if that's the style you like, that's ok. But I have to recommend just making these with actual bricks, like a stop motion animation minus a couple thousands pictures. Here are some of the more obvious problems : -the destroyed droid on the right (from the reader's point of view) of the tank looks like it is floating -the lighting and shadows aren't great, which makes the scene less credible -the laser shots are far too straight for an actual battle ; they should be chaotic and almost random (since the troops are shaking and jumping and moving between shots). -Finally, this doesn't really look hand-drawn (which it isn't, but still)- the giveaway is the fact that there is a lack of depth to computer generated pictures. Don't get me wrong, there's clearly some pretty good work here, and this looks just like Lego's official animations from a decade ago, so not too shabby considering your limited budget.
  4. Yes, but I meant in the count of how many figures are included, not how many characters...
  5. Statues should count, since they still cost as much to make as other figures...
  6. LKC is (I think) Lion knights' castle, but what is DA? I dislike when people use acronyms for sets, it's not that much longer to write the full name and far more people will recognise it (especially years from now). This is likely true, the set was hard to produce, too (big parts and sails), so its discontinuation was reasonable enough.
  7. Please do! I'd love to see something along the lines of "did you like 10320 eldorado fortress" and "have you bought 10320 eldorado fortress, why or why not?" (the second with a couple of options like "too expensive", "no other pirates sets", "set was unsatisfactory", so we can see if it truly was that unpopular.
  8. Ah! Good to know. I have to agree with @Fraunces, the sails are great, but in general the whole ship is covered with such great detail ; the sails, the shields, the greebling, the ship's shape and key elements (like those miniature white towers-I'm no ship expert so I don't know how they are called) . So I have one question, do you have anything else in store for us? I hope we won't have to wait 8 years for your next build.
  9. Great ship! Where did you get the shields, I recognise one from kingdoms, but that's it.
  10. You call 20 sales in 3 months popular? I was unable to find a single pirates I figure which was below 40 total sales on bricklink alone, and eBay certainly adds to that total. For comparison's sake, Finch Dallow sold over 20 times on bricklink and ebay in 6 months- for 800$-1200$ each time. I agree sales would be better if it was cheaper, but I don't think they'd be that much better.
  11. Finch Dallow is actually a really rare figure (only available for a short period of time, and only in some parts of the world) and Thrawn is and was a very popular character well before rebels made him even better known. It is very likely that the supply was artificially decreased by people who expected him to be valuable, but they have shot themselves in the foot; minifigures are an elastic market, if they lowered their prices by even a little bit, they'd increase sales by quite a bit. As for Chief, @MaximillianRebo correctly called it an equivalent of the diamond industry, with the only disadvantage being that a lot of people want diamonds, but very few people want that figure so... (I think something like 1 or 2 sales every 6 months on Bricklink, just saying...
  12. So something is only wrong if the victim can't defend itself, is poor, and has excellent moral judgment? Well, good thing you're not a judge... You are being intentionally obtuse here, yes that doesn't seem like a big deal when it is so seemingly insignificant, but let's watch you make something, prepare marketing, storage, packaging, etc... for it and have it be revealed by someone without you having any control over it and without the ability to control the narrative on it (ex: lots of negativity around it). Now it bothers you? Well don't worry, it is only wrong if you are a poor person with a stellar ethical judgment, but if you are a....CORPORATION (you know, those things which propel economies?) then it is perfectly reasonable to commit any crime against you. Not what you intended to say? Well that's what it sounded like...
  13. This is partly true, but it ignores the fact that there are tons of resellers who buy and hold until the market price is high enough, if one person tries to increase the price, they will release their stocks for say, 10-20% less and cause a reduction in price.
  14. Are you intentionally misunderstanding me? You replied to this post: By saying it (the post above) is objectively false, aka that futuristic designs nowadays are the same as those from 40 years ago, never was Star Wars mentioned in that post, and when I replied to you I mentioned spaceship designs in general as well as Star Wars. But instead of replying to my arguments, you decided to claim that your original post wasn't saying what it was saying. That your post was only talking about Star Wars ships even though the comment you quoted clearly implied all ships. It is MASSIVELY SUBJECTIVE to pretend that Star Wars is the only futuristic spaceship range. When you look at every range of futuristic ships everywhere, they have OBJECTIVELY changed, they are OBJECTIVELY containing more curves, and look a little less like ww2 planes than their predecessors (including some newer star wars designs, ex : lucrehulk batteship, naboo starfighters and naboo royal ships as examples).
  15. Is it though? Sure, spaceships haven't changed as much as one might expect, but modern designs are curvier and look a little more like the space shuttle than say, ships from Star wars do (which were directly based upon ww2 vehicles and more often than not BUILT using ww2 model kits). Modern ships are much sleeker and generally aren't limited by what was in a tv show production studio's storage room... Isn't that literally what they are doing with their icons range?
  16. But licensing and "pandering" is bringing in customers who'd otherwise keep their money but are instead joining the fun, why is that a bad thing? It is often at least somewhat original so ....
  17. Nope, it isn't both, the sellers setting their prices based upon how much people are willing to pay IS LITERALLY how supply and demand works. You are still insisting that this is the fault of the resellers, what are they supposed to do? Sell 'em for less? The only people who'll get the figs will be those who buy quickly en masse, aka other resellers, so if the prices are too low, it'll only increase the price from others purchasing them for resale. Actually, seller asking prices are literally the best possible way to do it, since if the cheapest option available is 800 $, it doesn't matter if they all sold for 600 $, since no others are available...
  18. Except that resellers aren't the ones jacking up the prices, the market is. It is simply a game of supply and demand, and the resellers are not at fault here, it really bothers me that people keep on repeating that, the resellers don't have a secret cabal where they set the prices (if they do, and they are reading this, I'd love to join, please?)
  19. Agreed, here's one : resellers aren't scummy and are actually one big help for the community. All of them count for me : if they represent characters which are approximately (astromech droids, GONK, etc...) human sized they are minifigs else if they represent larger than human sized characters they are bigfigs else if they represent smaller than human characters they are microfigs else they ain't figs
  20. Breaking a commercial agreement or any sort of agreement is generally not legal (at least not where I live), or at the very least you can be punished and sometimes sued depending on the contract for doing so... But it isn't morally right.
  21. Absolutely agree (even if Hollywood sells better amongst the wealthy populaces of America and Europe, which are the main sales drivers of TLG's products).
  22. I don't indulge in or support illegal acts, but if you want to, knock yourself out! (it is arguably true that the coppers won't investigate this stuff...doesn't make it right just because you are impatient...)
  23. You mean illegal leaks? Which are utterly unverifiable and could be prototypes, fakes or real with no way to know for sure? Yeah that doesn't count in my book...
  24. This, ten times over. Also, I don't get why people are so disappointed, we haven't even seen the figures yet (if we had, I'd understand such complaints, but now...), and rumours aren't always correct...
  25. What confederates with blue pants? I only see union troops with blue pants, did I miss something? Brickset.com is a great resource for finding parts, and they always link to bricklink where you can buy said parts.
