What to look for in a printer?
Horation replied to Pemil_99's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
I haven't really heard anything about DPI being a problem (as long as you have a fairly recent printer), just make sure to read the instructions for the paper, other than that, go with what seems best based upon the necessities you have. -
Lego Icons 10332 Medieval Town Square Discussion Thread
Horation replied to BrickJagger's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I'm not sure we are allowed to post leaked pictures on these forums... Looks good (for an official set and not a MOC, that is). I agree, but they are unlikely to do so... Let's say each set costs (all things included : machinery, insurance, employees, storage, free shipping on orders over 100$, the factories, etc....) 200$ to produce and is sold for 300$, an employee will need, say 5 minutes total to get the order from the warehouse to the shipping area. Now if you decide to split the set in 4, good now you have 4 75$ sets, for a total of at least 100$ of profit. Same margin, right? Not so fast, now they have to make 4 orders (3 minutes each, for instance), which takes more than double the amount of ( somewhat expensive) labour. Then they have to spend money marketing ALL 4 sets, which is significantly more time consuming and expensive than just one. Then you have shipping : one large set would cost say, 60$ to ship, but 4 smaller ones would cost say, 20$ each, and customers will likely purchase another small set to get to 100$, so shipping is more expensive, marketing is more expensive, labour is more expensive. And I didn't even mention the fact that some people would only purchase one or two vs all four (arguably this would be partly cancelled out by the larger volume of sales, but still...). So yeah, better, but not for the bottom line. Then again, one can still wish... -

Any printer can do, just buy the right kind of decal papaer for it. -

There's no such agreement, I believe this is mentioned in the ideas terms of service, or else they'd give a fixed sum, but there's no limit to how many sets I think the real reason is the number of parts which are unique to the set (sails, hulls, etc...) is the main factor here.

Ignore- made a mistake- MODS please delete. -
Well, if poor quality control means MORE parts, I ain't complaining...

You could contact the store owner, as this is a situation where they would likely allow you to buy.

This is my personal gripe with the female figs. It would have been nice to get say, the governor's daughter and a merchant/artisan female to man the boat.

Annoying pop up ads in the lower part of the screen

You could do a Patreon and offer paying members some perks (like say a badge and an ad-free experience). -
Well, you can always resell the figs, especially if you don't like them, it is easily going to get you 30-40€ back, and if you use VIP points on it, that can save more. But I think in your case, the more interesting solution would be to make your own MOC version of it, improving it where you can, so as to "show 'em what you've got" so to say.

Yes, that's what I've been saying, I even said that this will decrease sales amongst the male demographic, I don't know why people keep on insisting that this is supposed to increase sales amongst, that was never the intention, and I've explained what I believe to be the intention about 800 times by now, the only people who claim this is being done to increase sales amongst women are those that are vehemently opposed to the inclusion of such heads (in other words, those who are less likely to purchase it as a result). because of this : "I feel like this set's biggest flaw was the marketing and the its design ethos ; [it] was clearly a giant playset, but marketed towards nostalgic adults, in other words it did not know what it was." You are correct in the fact that there was no ambiguity on the set's target demographic (adults), at least in the marketing. But the set's design did confuse some users, and I think that's the set's main flaw.

Ok, but let me just have one last reply. Again, as I have said before, I am not an SJW, and I ain't woke, stop trying to claim otherwise. You know it takes two people to turn something into a debate right? If you didn't want a debate, you could have chosen not to reply. Your logic is flawless but contradicts your own opinion : trying to appease to a vocal minority (ex: a few neckbeards like YOU and ME who HAVE to replace their minifigure heads to have only males) is a mistake that will be the downfall of that company. If an issue is important enough, the MASSIVE armies of neckbeards making up 90%+ of Lego sales will Make Armies (of Lego minifigs) Great Again by making it clear that the majority agrees with them, that's how democracy works. But by trying to appease every vocal minority. Lego will merely create MORE vocal minorities. It's a never ending cycle, the best way to stop it is to ignore said vocal minority (ex: ignoring the requests for more male heads). I agree with the second half, YOU are the one who said these females were being added in a PLOY to INCREASE SALES, so you are here admitting this logic, YOUR logic, is asinine. I said that was the last of it, it is, but if @Captain Pirate Man wants to continue the "not-a-debate", I am encouraging him to do so in my private messages, this has sincerely been an interesting discussion. I agree, I think kids really prefer such serious faces. Just an Effort For effective Faces can Really Energise the Young ones (speaking from experience here) and End Power Struggles over Totally Effective and Interesting designs. Nonetheless, Do I Determine which design Number of face gets used for These sets? Kilometres from where I Live, they Let Honourable people pick In the name of Mass Sale increases and, in the End, if they Let us pick the Faces, would we really make the best choice?

Are you pretending not to get it? Obviously nobody means you can be a pirate, what is meant is that kids should learn that either gender can serve in any role ("anybody can be anything"), so that the small minority of each gender that is interested in untraditional roles doesn't feel like they are being ostracised, nobody is saying that you can be a pirate.
