2025/26 Castle [wishlist/speculation]
JohnTPT17 replied to GreenhouseBricker's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Answered a little earlier in the thread. -
Those are some slick looking minifigures - especially with relatively inexpensive parts! At first glance, I thought they were the ghosts of Uncle Vernon and Ant Petunia from Harry Potter

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
JohnTPT17 replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
Another wrench to potentially throw into the "will certain minifigure parts be available or not" discussion... I was checking out some reviews for some of the BDP Series 6 sets (I will probably pass on this wave and get Lion Knight's Castle before it retires instead) showed some prototype designs for some of the Series 7 and Series 8 sets. The Alchemist's Workshop set got a complete overhaul of the minifigures, and now features minifigs with one kraken knight, one griffin knight, two horse knights (from the Creator set), and the new ghost piece from the haunted house. Additionally, one of the upcoming ships has the pirate and soldier torsos and the desert castle had the snake knight torso/shield from the Minifig Dispenser as well. There's also a few parts that I recognized from Medieval Town Square (specifically, the goat and the dark red skirt piece), even though MTS is supposed to be retiring at the end of this year. We've already seen some funky parts being added to some of these BDP sets, as the grey wolf has only been released thus far in the January CMF and is supposed to be retired now. I do wonder, though, if the BDP might be able to give a few hints as to what we might be able to expect being available on Pick a Brick in the future, or if certain parts might be "saved" and be included in more sets in January. I can't seem to come up with any definitive rules or trends from what I see, though, so it could all just be nothing... -
New parts for the holiday have leaked!

Though it would allow for those of us with smaller wallets and shelf space to get a few small things a la carte as we have room for them. That does lead to another con of duplicates between sets, though - but, LoTR has that issue sometimes anyways, and more duplicates would bring down loose aftermarket prices on Bricklink for those just wanting figures.

LEGO Star Wars Set Discussion 2025 - READ FIRST POST!!!
JohnTPT17 replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Just got done with Rebuild the Galaxy Season 2. It still floors me that I can get more entertainment value out of the Lego spin-off shows than I did from the Disney Sequel films (aside from that Servo gonk droid - that's what people think Jar-Jar is actually like, and I hate almost every second that droid is on screen). I wonder if at some point was considered for a set - we got several sets with Season 1 and only one with Season 2, and that could have easily fit as the "big set" to match the Dark Falcon. There's a lot of cool minifig designs I would love to add to my collection... -
LEGO Collectable Minifurries Series 28. Rumors and discussion
JohnTPT17 replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
To be fair, Series 25 and 26 were back-to-back series, while 27 and 28 will be a year apart. It's not quite a straight comparison. They're already included in the Chinese New Years sets, and get released one at a time. Most of the headpieces even end up on Pick a Brick (though they are quite expensive). I'm sure Lego including them there gets more sales than they would doing them all at once - especially when some of those animals might not be New Year's relevant for over a decade.- 178 replies

Here is what they looked like (guy from 2021, girl from 2022): The guy overall is a pretty good upgrade (much better face, legs, and guitar, though the old hat has printing). You could argue either way for the girl, but I like the outfit and gold facial highlights on the new one more.

Huh - Minifig Scan has always worked just fine for me. Did you give the app permission to use the camera? And were you for sure scanning the dot matrix code (the one that looks like a QR Code), and not the bar code? -

Second vote towards Minifig Scan. I've used them since Series 25 and I've been happy every time. -

I was able to find the Spider-Verse CMFs at my Wal-mart today. I ended up getting six: Gwen, Peter B, Spider-India, Spider-Byte, Spider-Punk, and 2099. I was on the fence about Miles and Cowboy Spidey, but decided against them for the time being - I don't think I like the electric power printing on Miles and Cowboy doesn't really match with the other stuff I have. If I see them on a sale, I might get them. The other four are a pass for me, though. -

This short was far weaker than the first one. The 2023 one had a ticking clock to complete the quest, each princess contributed something meaningful, etc. This one felt far more generic and boring (though I did at least appreciate the jokes about not knowing who Sir Hiss is and acknowledging Jasmine being missing). It could have been any mix of princesses, or even just one of them, and it wouldn't have changed the plot much. Bog Monster did look a bit Friend-ified and I don't know if I like the face just being a printed part like Molten Man, but at least it's a possibility. I do wonder under what circumstances they recorded Pat Carroll's lines, though - have they been sitting on these lines this long, or did they get repurposed from something else? -
Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
JohnTPT17 replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
Standard part shipping to the US has now been suspended thanks to tarriffs. Bestsellers are still available, at least. But there were also several parts (especially animals) I would have probably gotten if there was more of a warning... I'm very scared about what prices are going to look like next year. And not just for Legos. -

Croc is more-or-less a redesign of the old Lizard Suit Guy. Croc had more modern black eyes on the mask, leg printing, a rounder belly print, a full set of teeth, and a more visible minifigure face. The old one does have some advantages, though, such as having a separate mask and tail/back part and printing alone the spine. That old one is also just a classic minifigure, so I can't say wholeheartedly if Croc is 100% an upgrade... Though it probably is. Fish mask is a lot more difficult to make out, but it's not super clear. Looks a bit freakish, though. Can't say I'm holding my breath for leaks of the rest - I'm sure they will be fine, but I'm also not very excited. At this point I'm more interested in what May might bring...- 178 replies

Depends on exactly what version they would go with - it would specifically have to be the Pooh without the red shirt, be more tan than yellow, and not be as round. The Disney Pooh is a lot more vibrant and what most people think of when they think of Pooh, so Lego would almost certainly want to go that way with things. -

That's like winning a "most lively chicken" award with a one-legged hen when the competition is a KFC bucket and a Costco rotisserie. Sure, you avoided Fan4stic's level of bombing, but that movie needed to be more of a home run that bunting the ball to 1st - especially when you're supposed to be the lead-up movie to the attempted revival/reboot of your franchise. If that ends up being true, I would hate that on so many levels. What would be the point of the last several films and TV shows - just spinning our wheels for half a decade in order to backtrack it all? And if that does work, are we now going to toss the Disney Star Wars Sequel trilogy into the bin for another reboot tying things back to older, well regarded media? Like, sure, there's probably some good that can come with that, and it might be enough of a carrot to get general audiences back, but it also feels kinda cheap and insincere to those who did like what came before (and I say this as someone who hasn't liked much from either the sequels or post-Endgame MCU). But, I also wouldn't be shocked if that does end up happening, since Marvel seems to be starved for wins that aren't nostalgia-fests (which I am just as guilty as everyone else for watching) and they've already tagged some of the old A-team to come back. For me, though, at the end of the day, it's not really going to rock my world (in either a watching perspective or a Lego-buying perspective) if things do slow down, or even go dormant for a bit. I've got all of my old stuff that I still enjoy, and it's not going to be going anywhere. And sometimes, a break from something is a good idea - even Lego Harry Potter went on hiatus for awhile, then came back with a reboot and has been going surprisingly strong ever since. Maybe the MCU and Lego Superheroes (both MCU and DC) could do with a bit of a break, or at least a reevaluation and refresh. -
Official Battle Packs are back - sort of

You said "Wolves" and I got excited - it's actually the husky. There's also a Pirates Bundle, with one captain and four generic pirates. Either way, nice find. They kinda did something similar with the Lion Knight's Castle and made a link to get just Castle parts on that store's page... Apparently it got enough clicks that Lego wanted to do it again! I also wonder if this is preemptive to the horse and snake knight parts getting added to Pick a Brick, so make bundles of those more readily available. -

Haven't seen it mentioned yet, but there's another Lego Disney Princess coming to Disney+ on August 25th, called LEGO Disney Princess: Villains Unite. It seems to be a sequel to the last one, and once again features a lot of returning voice actors (at a glance I saw Paige O'hara as Belle and Johnathan Freeman as Jafar as being new to this one, and most of the ones from the original were returning). There's also a tease in the trailer for a Chernabog, which will be interesting to see in an official Lego form (and they did a great job with the Maleficent dragon last time). Sir Hiss also appears, which was cool to see. The last one was absolutely a guilty pleasure of mine, so I might give this one a go as well. Seeing how the last movie got a later tie-in set (43205) and the Maleficent dragon may have been a hint towards the later-release Maleficent set, there's a chance we get some kind of Friends set from this, and maybe a chance towards the Chernabog. That may be a stretch, though. -
LEGO Collectable Minifurries Series 28. Rumors and discussion
JohnTPT17 replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
That's the same mold the original rabbit suit used, though (and is still used as of this year in set 42661). This is a slightly updated rabbit head mold that was used in 80111, with a more angular face. The Nesquik one is completely different from those ones, though, but it's also a very different style and moreso is for that one specific character before the single-piece molds like Bugs Bunny or Rabbit were around.. So, it may or may not count as a "costume" like the other ones.- 178 replies
