LEGO Videogame Tie-Ins - Rumors & Discussion
JohnTPT17 replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
Since this theme is going to be a Lego Store exclusive (at least, according to the rumors), there's probably less avenues that leaks can come from. I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't get any more info until they are officially revealed - which is still a few months out, if I had to guess. -

Oof... that droid set looks pretty rough, especially the heads. I'm sure some of those exposed parts are to help add on the accessories that should be coming with them, but it's just not working for me. Easy pass. Not long until we see Bob at this rate, though! -

Echoes of Wisdom does look like it could have several instances of "building" in it, which could translate well to Lego - but it's not like we got Mario: Wonder sets when that set released. I am very interested to see how that game goes though. Part of me worries that the game could be far too easy since it seems to give you a lot of tools, but they were able to avoid a lot of those issues in Tears of the Kingdom, so I'll remain optimistic for the time being. -

"Iron Man, Bike & Hulk vs Brick Wall" has got to be the most random set since "Iron Man vs Hobo on Lawnmower (76008)". Like, if they want to have two "hero" minifigs and no antagonist, maybe have it be a jungle gym/obstacle course, or maybe some kind of target practice dummies like 30523. Or, maybe a hot dog stand. Just something other than... A blank wall. -

We now have a little more info about the Target-exclusive fan design set: 21352 - Disney 100 Celebration - 1103 pieces - $99.99 - October 1st I'm not going to get excited for it until we get some info about whatever figs will be with it, but if this set basically replaces the Villains Icons set (another Target exclusive at a similar price point which retires at the end of this year), I think there's a chance we get three or four minifigs in there. Maybe we finally get Belle? Eh, any speculation is just going to let me hopes down later... -

First Maul, then Ezra, and now Rey with the weird cataract, pupil-less eye? C'mon, Lego - it looks like trash. And, frankly, if you did have their eyes the "normal" way, I think the number of people who would have issues with the eye color would me much smaller. Just... Ugh. Anyways, the set looks pretty much like I would have thought. The minifigs (besides Rey's eyes) looks nice, but I don't need the set, so it's a pass for me. -

Huh... Well, that's finally answered, then. The description kinda reminds me of the Disney Duos set, though, where there might be a few solid builds that I like, but with several other side builds that just add to the part count and price, making me wish I could just get part of the set. Still, I'll wait to pass any kind of judgement until we get photos. Glad we finally got that figured out! Back to the drawing board about Renown's clue, though... -

That's... One of the better ideas we've gotten in awhile, and actually makes a lot of sense. Well done. Heck, if leakers/leaker informers just saw blurry photos, they might not have known how to describe "black sphere" super well, and just saw the plaque and assumed it was a creature like Grogu. -

75170 (Which has The Phantom, Kanan, Chopper, and Thrawn): Am I a joke to you? That being said, I haven't heard enough solid rumors about the set to believe that more than Bob and an Astromech are coming for sure in there - anything else in there is a surprise bonus, in my book. -

Good point - I think I had mostly forgotten that. Though I also think the information was pretty hazy, and it's definitely not anything that will be completely representative of everything in Lego Fortnite. I imagine we'll get more details about them soon, though. -

Hmm... Very interesting. It's also coming to PC (not a huge surprise) and to Nintendo Switch (which does surprise me quite a bit). Also, like Lego Fortnite, it looks like there are several "Legacy" Lego characters, including the Hot Dog Vender from CMF Series 17, Popcorn Costume from CMF Series 23, Wildlife Photographer from CMF Series 16, Jungle Explorer from CMF Series 19, Sora from Ninjago, and a generic construction worker. Also, Aloy looks pretty much identical to her official minifigure - or, at least I don't see any differences. It could just be coincidence, but the designer interview for Ominous Isle for the Bricklink Designer Program mentions wanting a Thunderjaw. One of the other designers mentioned wanting a Zelda theme, and that was announced shortly afterwards... It could just be coincidence, though. If you really want to be conspiratorial, another designer also mentioned Hobbiton... Also, I think that the new bow piece, with pin holes for feathers, looks really cool - and it might be another good hint towards getting real sets (though I also thought that about Fortnite, and there's still nothign confirmed about that... -
There are probably some people that had some issues, but I do think it was much better than last time, when the Mountain Fortress sold out in about three hours (with major issues during the first half hour). I feel much more sympathy who missed that much shorter window. I also don't want to sound callus, but if someone was experiencing issues, or knew they would be working, they probably should have set up a contingency plan and had a spouse/sibling/friend help them get the set. Or, if you're in a bad time zone, like Australia, you might need to either stay up late, or wake up early. I got my sister a Mushroom House because she was busy, just as an example. And I know that might not have worked in every case either, but if you have the disposable income to get a $280 Lego train station, I imagine that person would have options. It's the nature of the beast, with something like this that's rare and sought after.
-
Looks like the Brick Cross Train station is now sold out (well, about 40ish minutes ago). Still, that's a solid 7 hours it was available - which I think is a decent sized window for anyone who was really interested. The Mushroom House just sold out, so it was available for about 8 hours - which I also think is a reasonable amount of time. Ominous Isle is at 47.07% sold, Logging Railway is at 26.91%, and Ocean House is at 25.84%. I could see Ominous Isle selling out eventually, but I think the other two won't make it.
-
Status of selling out at the one-hour mark: Brick Cross Train Station: 52.84% sold (about 15,852 copies) Mushroom House: 44.63% sold (about 13,389 copies) Ominous Isle: 28.83% sold (about 8,649 copies) Logging Railway: 17.05% sold (about 5,115 copies) The Ocean House: 16.8% sold (about 5,040 copies) I imagine the first two will sell out in a few hours, so if you're on the fence, I'd jump on it. Ominous Isle I'll give a few days, maybe a week. The last two might not sell out completely... We'll see.

The Deku Tree is back open for pre-orders is the USA again, if anyone was wanting to get one. -
It looks like the set number for Ominous Isle is going to be 910038 - which lines up with last wave. That means that, if the site crashes again, the direct links for the sets will probably be: Logging Railway: https://www.lego.com/cart?product=910035 The Ocean House: https://www.lego.com/cart?product=910036 Mushroom House: https://www.lego.com/cart?product=910037 Brick Cross Train Station: https://www.lego.com/cart?product=910034 Ominous Isle: https://www.lego.com/cart?product=910038 It's no guarantee, but those could potentially be helpful once we get to tomorrow. Good luck, everyone!

Voting for Wave 5 is now out, and - I feel like this program is becoming very redundant. A lot of caravans, a lot of modular builds, a LOT of castles and peasant buildings, etc. I also think the piece counts on a lot of these are extremely high for how big they look - Like, a piece looks like it would be around 1000-1200 pieces, but it's over 2000, which will just inflate the final price. Like, it's a nice looking truck or vehicle, but it's on a baseplate or has side builds, which inflates the part count/cost. It's very odd, and it's frustrating seeing things I like, only to look into it more and balk at the part count (and, ergo, the eventual price). Anyways, here are some of my favorites: Music Studio: Unique design, and it feels like they didn't inflate the part count very much - this feels like a $100-120 build for it's size. The Thieves of Tortuga: Yeah, it's super large and part-heavy, but it's one of my favorite pirate builds this round (though there's one I like more I'll get to later) Bounce Castle at the Park: Another one where I ask "where are the 752 pieces in this?", but it's a very unique and cute design. City Aquarium: It was a favorite to win last time, and it's back! Hopefully it will get through this time - it's a unique design. Mushroom Village: A companion piece to the Mushroom House (by the same designer, JonasKramm), and I LOVE THIS!!! Based on the comments, it already seems to be pretty popular. It's the charm of the Mushroom House turned up even more, with just as many charming details and buildings! (I think my favorite NPU is the wide skirt piece as a wash basin). If you like the Mushroom House, you'll love this... VOTE FOR IT!!! Popcorn Wagon: Another case of "wagon on a plate to increase count," but it's still pretty charming. Elven Garden: We've had gardens before, but this one goes vertical instead of horizontal, which helps it stand out. Pigs & Potions: Very charming and whimsical, even though the build looks very cramped. It's probably one of my favorites of the wave, though. Greek Island Resort: I mostly like this one because it's another good example of strong "size for the part count," though the overall design is still very well done. I also like the windmill section. Viking Longship and Viking Dragon Ship: The twin 400-500 piece Viking ships are once again up against each other, and both of them are still very meaty, very clean builds. I'd be happy to see either one go through. Kraken Attack: There are lots of ships, but this one really stands out to me for the titular Kraken. The ship itself also looks quite nice, if a little bit blocky. It also looks like the ship can be built in an "unwrecked" form, like Barracuda Bay, which I also appreciate. Overall, my Top 5 would be Mushroom Village, Mushroom Village, Mushroom Village, Mushroom Village, Mushroom Village, and, if I could choose a sixth, Mushroom Village. Okay, actually, my Top Five would me Mushroom Village, Kraken Attack, Pigs & Potions, Music Studio, and either of the Viking ships, with an honorable mention to the Popcorn Wagon and Bounce Castle at the Park. Hopefully that Mushroom Village makes it through, and I'm interested to see what else makes it!

Indeed... I do like the idea of "sponsored" custom minifigs, but $12 is still a little pricey. If it's the right theme/design, then I might bite... Maybe a cool Zelda something - I dunno. There's also a picture of Saruman in the library, as far as Easter Eggs go. I would love it if these were teases towards some future sets (and, frankly, Jay and other Fan Media Members might know more than us anyways), but I won't put any stock into hoping for more sets until we hear something more concrete.

Early reviews for Series 2 are starting to trickle out, if anyone is curious: Notably, The Brothers Brick reviewed the Logging Railway, and while he loved the train, he had a lot of frustrations with the bridge, and ultimately would not recommend the set: https://www.brothers-brick.com/2024/06/01/bricklink-designer-program-series-2-logging-railway-a-trial-of-timber-review/ Tips&Bricks has a review for the Mushroom House, but it's pretty short, and uses several of the stock images: https://www.tipsandbricks.co.uk/post/2409-set-review-bdp-series-2-mushroom-house Brick Fanatics has a written review and a video for Ominous Isle: https://www.brickfanatics.com/lego-bricklink-910038-ominous-isle-review Alex Nunes also has a video for Ominous Isle, with some shots with Barracuda Bay for comparison: Tiago Catarino has a video up for Brick Cross Station: And, lastly, Solid Brix Studios has a video for the Ocean House: Overall, it looks like several of these reviews have issues with stability and/or buildability, even though many of the finished products look rather good. Notably, the designer for Wave 3's Camping Adventure left a comment under Alex Nunes' video nothing that "it seems that Bricklink may be putting more emphasis on stability for future series to make it a bit closer to Lego standards while maintaining the original model's detail," based on design recommendations he received for his set. So hopefully this will be less of an issue for upcoming waves! As for me, I'm still probably just going to get the Mushroom House from this wave - I don't have the budget, space or interest for the other ones. Good luck to everyone else on the 6th getting what you want!

LEGO Videogame Tie-Ins - Rumors & Discussion

I just checked, and I no longer see a button to pre-order either (on the USA site, at least). The button sometimes will go away a little bit before the set releases for general sale, but not after one day of preorders... My guess is it's a bug of some kind, and it will be back up at some point - unless they've sold out of preorders, which I doubt would have happened for a general release set in just one day.
