21348 Lego Ideas Dungeons & Dragons and D&D CMF
JohnTPT17 replied to Black Falcon's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Jay's Brick Blog confirms that the Gith comes with a spare knife (hooray!) and that the Halfling's horns are rubbery (boo!). The Lady of Pain's mask is also rubbery, but I don't care about her much, so I don't really mind. I'm also happy that the arm printing on this series seems to be much better than Marvel Series 2 - those ones were awful, and I'm glad those issues seem to be resolved and won't ruin these high-quality prints. I'll be keeping two complete sets for myself, but I'm tempted to get a few spare Halflings and Dragonborns... We'll have to see how quickly I can get to Wal-Mart when they arrive.- 686 replies

The Bricklink Designer Program just released some new rules for set submissions, and there's some interesting tidbits that could speak towards future sets with animals: Now, these may not be rules for upcoming Lego sets in the future, but if that is the case, then it could mean that any kind of zoo or aquarium is out of the question. It's also a little ambiguous if farms with animals would be allowed or now (I think it would be okay, but it's not clear).

Disney Properties 2024 - Rumors & Discussion
JohnTPT17 replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
I'll guess that we get news of the Nightmare Before Christmas set early next week. That gives a bit of breathing room from the new August releases to have a bit of the spotlight. I doubt it would be any later than Tuesday the 13th. No idea on the Target set, though. Those ones are pretty hard to guess. I think the Viking Village set was about three weeks before release, so we may not see that one until next month (though hopefully leakers will give us a better idea of what it is soon). -

Looks like they're also available in the US - but they're not cheap! If anyone wants part numbers, though, they are: White: 6478949/107468 head 6478962/107469 body Blue: 6480302/107513 (black eyes) or 6415219/101021 (black and white eyes) and 6416856/101309 body. -
Marvel Superheroes 2024 - Rumors & Discussion

It probably depends on how well Series 2 did. At least near me, that series was a bit of a disaster - in part because of the switch to boxes (with no codes to scan for contents), and in part because most people just wanted a few of the minifigs and had zero interest in the rest. An X-Men '97 series would certainly provide more characters (and would be a lot cheaper than a $330 mansion), but it could be seen as even more niche than just a general Marvel series to get made. -

With the new gorilla molds, now would be the time if they wanted to make a set. Turk might need a unique mold, but Kerchak and Kala can probably be done with the existing molds. If we're going to speculate about another Disney CMF, I would really like to see Meg and Phil from Hercules. The Aladdin squad got split up between waves 1 and 2, so there's a chance. Third pick would probably be Max Goof - the internet seems to be getting really nostalgic for A Goofy Movie, so I could see him being reasonably popular. -

I'm just going to wait until we have better photos out before I do more squinting at images made out of spaghetti sauce. Though I do have to admit, I find it a little funny how much detail we can guess at from something that messy-looking. -

Are we sure that's real? It's a brand new account - though nothing looks obviously wrong to me. If it is real - it looks like there's a Sentinel on the left, and it looks like Storm has here more classic hair, and Gambit has some kind of new energy blast. Hard to make out much more than that, though. -

As someone who's only on here occasionally - yeah, it probably technically belongs over in the General area - but I'm also just used to it being here, and I think most people just know to look for it here. I also just think that it gets more eyeballs looking at it here while people are looking into the Themes - as @karrit alluded to - and it could get lost/die over in General. -

Let's not get too overhyped for Mission Demolition, y'all. The Code: Red movie from last year didn't produce any of the cool Hydra soldiers, The Collector, or anybody else IRL, and I doubt this one will either (though I do wish they would take a page out of DC's book and have minifigure polybags with the DVD releases so we at least get something...) -

MCU, comic-based... Just give me some new characters, or at least cheaper versions of existing characters that still look nice, and I'll be happy. -
My friend was able to get me a Greek/Green Queen when they visited the store, so there are at least some out there.

I imagine it's another multi-pack - all of those cloth parts are the same price, and it doesn't make sense why a single cape would be $20. I also noticed that the elf's ears from that set are available - part 6483114/107096 - for $2.87. Both heads for the elf are also available, but I didn't notice any other unique parts from that set. -

Ooh... That's huge news for me! I never got the Space Diner, so I'm glad I'll finally be able to get a real, complete orange spaceman for myself. Just ordered myself several - thank you! -

A $90 playset with only two minifigs? I highly doubt that would be the case. Three I think is the bare minimum, six is probably the most, and only if they reuse prints. And $90 is still pretty expensive. Based on the price of the Peter Pan and Up sets, I think we're looking at 800-1000ish pieces. I imagine some of those will be used for some kind of foliage, beach, side builds, or maybe even Bubble's car/the space pod, but that still leaves, at worst, 600-800ish for the main house. It's no mansion, but it's at least bigger than the Up house. It's not going to as big as the BDP Series 2 Ocean House either way - I think a dollhouse/facade in the same vein as Up is the most likely. -

I'm not going to but much stock in Pleaky or Jumba being in the set for now. I'd love to have them, but the Up house only had two minifigs (plus Dug) for $60. Lilo, Stitch (maybe a blue four-arm variant this time?), and Nanny are basically guaranteed, and David probably the next pick. I could see Myrtle or Bubbles being added in as well, since their minifigs would be pretty simple and could act as a bit of an "antagonist." Pleaky and Jumba would be better, though. Still waiting for Belle, though... -

That book passage has such "well actually/student reminds the teacher about homework that's due" energy. I don't think that those eyes "create greater consistency," nor do they "strengthen the sense that minifigures inhabit the same imaginative world." They look far more uniform if they all have a black "pupil," not to have colored eyes suddenly have white interiors. And, again, just because the rule exists, doesn't mean the rule can't be changed - especially if, as they admit, they only started applying it in the past year! It feels cheap, it looks like bantha poodoo, and the old ones, even if they technically didn't "follow the rules," looked infinitely better! Cut it out, Lego - I'm not going to buy these figs if they look like this! ...Okay, I'll get off my soap box about this now. I really do hope that Lego is listening to the feedback and realizes that this rule is stupid and is actively ruining minifigs. That is all. -

JohnTPT17 replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Wasn't that discussed here a few pages ago, and we decided that it more had to do with why the early CMF minifigs had such long, exaggerated facial features (as was on the cover of the book)? That would predate any of this colored eye nonsense. And, even if there is a new rule, they need to drop it - the rule wasn't there before, so surely it can be unmade if Lego gets enough negative feedback. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
JohnTPT17 replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I don't think D&D is any further from that idea than any pervious licensed series. If you're not a Disney fan, what are any of those characters going to do for you? Or Simpsons, or Muppets, or Looney Tunes, or any of the super hero ones? Sure, there might be individual parts from some of those figs that appeal to you, but I think there's enough in the D&D series that could be used in non-medieval areas (robes for modern day monks, animals in many scenarios, reusing some for aliens in space builds, printed stone baseplates, etc). And, heck, I'm sure if I were to go through all of the regular CMF's, there's probably at least one that just doesn't have any minifigs that don't appeal to me. Though, at the end of the day, it's all subjective, I suppose. Though if F1 is just racers in jumpsuits/mechanics, I do think it will take the care for the worst CMF (right now I'd say it's DFB, since it's a lot of very similar uniforms and one overly repeated accessory). -
I think the other half of that is that they've done away with "rarities" in a particular box - you're always going to get three sets per box, guaranteed, without leftovers (barring packing errors). Not only does that mean there's probably less of the "bad" ones left on store shelves, but there's more opportunities to get the "good" ones, that might have otherwise been in lower supply. I do wish series were a little bigger - some could really go beyond just a dozen minifigs - but that's the only downside I see.

Yeah... Lego really need to stop this weird pupil-less look. It's ruined far too many Star Wars minifigs this year alone. It does NOT look good at all. -

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
JohnTPT17 replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Maybe, but what country/area would they be for? And, better yet, who would be the audience? Again, I feel like people like the Formula One stuff for the vehicles, not the minifigs. So, unless if they're all based on real people (which technically could happen - again, DFB), what would be the draw? @BrickBob Studpants, where did you hear it from? I listened through Brick Clicker's most recent video, which did mention the Formula one "takeover," but I didn't hear mention of any CMF. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
JohnTPT17 replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
A Formula One Minifigure Series? That makes... No sense. The cars are the focus, and all of the drivers are just in racing jumpsuits. That series would be just as, if not more redundant than, the DFB series. Unless if it links up with what I heard about costumes, and there's going to be a lot of mini molded cars, like the Race Car Guy in Series 18? But that doesn't make sense either - would you be able to even see any kind of detail on those cars to make it worth it? And what unique accessories could you have besides molded cars and the same toolset that has been around for years? The only way it could maybe work is if there is a series like with Mario, and it's actually a mini-build. But, they already have all kinds of cars for $20, which seem to sell just fine, so why make a blind box series of much smaller cars that would have to be more compact that a Microfighter? If there's a "Year of Formula One," like with space this year, that's one thing. Have more cars, building garages, racetracks, etc. But minifigures make zero sense to me. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours

Let's not go into a panic yet - this was just a case of "a guy I know repeated something that he heard from another guy," so I'm not taking it with a lot of weight. Just thought it might be fun to add to the speculation... And karma dictates that we might need to have (in my opinion) a bizarre costume series after such stellar D&D minifigs. Though I wonder what costumes they would be able to do...
