2025/26 Castle [wishlist/speculation]
DonQuixote replied to GreenhouseBricker's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Lion Knights castle is the only retro set that sold very well. The others didn't sell all that well. Shame ,I bought them all . Galaxy Explorer is very underrated. Bought that one at €80. Felt like I was stealing from Lego.Mostly I have the feeling that Lego is stealing from me with their overpriced sets.( fish tank, unlicensed, no minifigs, €450!) But Galaxy Explorer : very good value for your money and very fun build. I am hoping for a SpacePolice 1 set and a Black Knights remake. And no, the upcoming gwp Sea Serpent does not count. It will be a disappointment because it will not have those iconic long dragon shields. -
[Collection] My Lego Castle Factions
DonQuixote replied to King_of_Lomadia's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I wish I could upload some pics because I have a really good looking and diverse Black Falcon army. I spent a lot on Bricklink for my Falcons, mostly retired parts, armor and hair from other themes. My king wears a gold helmet with feathers ( from a cmf) and has a green knight torso, the queen wears the viking hair with silver feathers ( came in creator viking ship )with a green dress (from Harry Potter) , some Falcons wear winged helmets ( from Dwarven fantasy era ) Some female warriors wear the female Thor helmet with feathers and blonde hair. The princess archer has the ginger hairpiece from Horizon( it looks fantastic! ) And some warriors wear the classic viking helmet ( without horns). Most of them are ginger or blond. It really stands out with their darker tunic. And it really fits with the nordic theme and the BDP Mountain Fortress. It's my version of the kingdom in the North from Game of Thrones combined with some Viking mythology. I call it Nørðumbriå. The stormtroopers ( that's how I call the grunt) are all generic ,wearing light metallic helmets and pauldrons. But they are all battle ready to defend their culture and religion from the treath of the Lion Knights from the south that's called Cataluña. -

I don't think we are getting anything. Otherwise we would have heard rumours. -

In my lore it's the opposite. My Falcons are very diverse including ferocious female warriors. They are a nordic kingdom who worship the old nordic gods. The Lion Knights are a more typical medieval Christian Kingdom were the men rule, and the women doing the household stuff. The Wolfpack are criminals who produce and trade selfmade dangerous ale. They also take jobs as a hitman or spy. The Forrest people are anarchists who live what the forrest has to offer. So mostly hunting. -

I prefer the Black Falcons with silver /light metallic armor. Black is more nostalgic but I find it not so appealing anymore. Too dark for my taste. -

Those Green Dragon Knights are really beautiful. I was in my dark ages when they came out. Whenever that was. -

And a wolfpack member with no wolfpack shield. Unfinished roofs on the left building. It's like they ran out of bricks and budget. The leaked prelim looked so much better He returned in budget form without the iconic wolfpack shield. -

I have the feeling this set didn't perform as well as Lego hoped. -
Well I don't think it's rude at all. It's a good design yes I have to admit. But this is also a castle /historic part of the forum. And I think there is nothing wrong to say that I prefer European castles over Japanese ones. With that statement I was not criticizing his moc but it is about real life castles. Designers on BDP ask for feedback and I am always being honest. But if you think that what I said is offensive or rude , okay. That's your opinion and I respect that.
-
I don't see the problem. Some Europeans prefer katanas over Zweihänders (double handed longsword) It's just a matter of taste. Like Brick Monarchs castle from BDP. It's a Korean designer who prefers European castles over Korean ones. I prefer Buddhist Temples over European churches and I am an atheïst. Nothing wrong with saying your preferences.

2025/26 Castle [wishlist/speculation]
DonQuixote replied to GreenhouseBricker's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I don't mind the lack of interior. That's something I can fix myself. The most important thing is the exterior because of the piece count limit. -
Yes it's very competitive. That's a good and a bad thing.Because some beautiful designs will not get chosen. Dustmark Keep was chosen last time but I don't find it the best castle entry last time. I prefered the castle of Brickadmiralty in the previous series. It did not get chosen and he did not resubmit for series 9. I really like that castle so much that I downloaded all the pics. Maybe I will try to recreate it myself one day for myself. He also has pictures on his Instagram ( Brickadmiralty). For series 9 I prefer Brick Mordarch's castle. But I am glad that we even get one castle set per series. If it were up to Lego to create Lego castle sets, I had to live 500 years to get the sets I want. Because today it's allmost all about licensed themes. Without BDP I would be 99% converted to alt brick brands.

Is it griffin, griffon, gryphon ....? I see a lot of different spelling...so what is it ? In Dutch it's 'griffioen' -
Lol In this universe it's LEGO. You're correct. In another parallel universe it may be called legos or..... Kiddiecraft is still in business ( inventor of Lego bricks) or maybe MegaBloks is the brand leader and we all prefer MegaBloks minifigs over Lego ones. Eww Lego minifigs, that's a cheap Danish knock off !

Looks good but I just prefer European castles over Japanese ones.
-
Note : The plural of Lego is Lego. Only a true Afol knows that.

Restore this Renegade Runner or buy a complete one?

Nice displays ! -
I am happy we get new factions ( Griffin Lords, Kraken Raiders, Black Adders, Riders of Rohan/horse faction) But the disappointment is there are no matching bardings. I have seen some Raven Bardings from knock off companies. So I hope these new factions get bardings too. If Lego is to lazy to make bardings for their own factions than I have no other choice to buy them from Chinese companies. I hope we will see them soon. Are there people here who have experience with non Lego bardings?
-
I also have never found one. I have 2 Wolfpack Beastmasters bought from a non official Lego online store in my country. They were expensive but not as expensive as those damn scalpers. Scalpers should be sent to the Far West in the 19th century and be scalped by native Americans!

I don't have a high diploma. Just a technic highschool diploma. I didn't like to go to school because I was bullied alot because I was skinny and a ginger. However I did like to learn, but not the stuff at school. When I was ten years old I started reading paleontology and archeology on sunday while kids my age were playing football. I also visited musea of natural science history. As a teen I became interested in kosmology and I started reading Stephen Hawking. I still have all his books. Today I read and follow various documentaries about physics and quantum-mechanics. I have to admit I don't understand everything but I do my best. Some of those channels are for students in that matter. It's very hard. Other interests are antropology, history and ufology. I know people will laugh with ufology but I do take it seriously. If you're not openminded, science will not improve. My IQ is 103, average but I do have a higher general knowledge than the average person. But the more I know, the more I understand I don't know enough.
