Marvel Superheroes 2024 - Rumors & Discussion

Yeah, it seems like in that 'game' wave, they defaulted to comic designs whenever I guess the game designs weren't available to them? Black Panther, Hawkeye and Captain Marvel from those sets are all pretty clearly comic based imo -

Yeah, I think both of these would be better picks than Avengers Mansion Wayne Manor could honestly probably ALSO be a Batcave stacked underneath it, getting up into the Avengers Tower price range - I think that could do really well if they kept it one of the more interesting designs for the cave (ahem, shadowbox :/) I'd personally love a Malibu Mansion too - LEGO loooooves Iron Man, and it's one of very few minifigure scale D2Cs you can really make with him at the centre. Doubt they'd do it this way, but 'yellowbox777' on Instagram has a great modular version -

I'd personally want Avengers Mountain as a comic based Avengers location - it doesn't repeat any ideas the X-Mansion has, and it's just an incredibly cool concept -
Figured it'd be a good time as any with all the X-Mansion hype to share this here! I'm super proud with how this model turned out, getting it right with mostly Dark Purple and Magenta was ROUGH haha

I really don't think they'd even try this As far as I'm aware, LEGO Marvel and DC still share their budget There's also a LOT of crossover between Superhero fanbases, to the point that one of these sets would most likely cannibalise the sales of the other, because being real, most people don't have like a thousand dollars to drop on both in the same year. I'm not even so confident in the idea of the Daily Planet by itself anymore - the Bugle is meant to retire by the end of 2025, so two superhero news buildings on shelves simultaneously feels like a bad move -

The thing that confuses me is that there are PLENTY of actual Marvel mechs and vehicles that'd serve the same purpose as a toy but actually make sense. -

Could just be my interpretation of it, I have zero market research on this, but: With a line of sets like the Marvel modulars, I think that a big part of the appeal is having different areas of the Marvel universe represented, if that makes sense? Bugle is the Spidey stuff, Sanctum is the mystic arts, Avengers Tower obviously is Avengers, then Mansion for X-Men I'm also assuming that a decent chunk of sales isn't *necessarily* from Marvel superfans, just people who like the characters on a pretty average level and think some representation of them in their cities is cool That being said, I'm not really sure how well Oscorp would do? Either you go silly with it and make it all black and green and purple and very cartoonishly villainous, or you get ANOTHER big gray Spider-Man skyscraper. I'd eat it up, but I'm not sure how appealing either of those options are to less diehard Spidey fans - and honestly, I think I'd be a fair bit less invested in getting it straight away than something representing the F4, or another corner of the universe. I think Marvel fans on more of a budget might also find it hard to justify getting another Spidey building if they already have the Bugle (which I don't think is retiring until the end of 2025 now?) Again, all just my own takes on it, and I could be wrong, Oscorp could be a total slam dunk, but that's why I personally don't think it's super likely -

Yeah, I couldn't have phrased it better. I think what Mitch was meaning to ask is it there's any way to know if the trend of the Marvel modular building/D2C minifigure scale location will continue or jump over to DC And no, there's no way to know for sure yet, we can only speculate. I personally think that given the options I can think of, a DC one with the Daily Planet makes the most sense (Oscorp is ANOTHER Spider-Man thing, the F4 are essentially untested in merchandising in the last ten years so I can't see a Baxter Building) -

Definitely agree - that is, unless they were to print him on a satin/opalescent translucent colour. KO Customs did an Iceman on a satin trans blue and the effect is great. It's cloudy enough to feel like solid ice, the normal translucent colours would just kinda end up making him look like Water-man. Solid is totally fine, though. -

Basically what you said, but I thought it was worth expanding on it with some LEGO comments about why Force Ghosts aren't done. “The reason for not doing it was that the minifigures are made out of many different types of plastic, because they need to have different abilities and characteristics,” Jens explained in June 2021. “That prevented us from making all the bits from the minifigures consistently transparent. We thought it will look bad if you had a Force ghost with a solid-colour hip element and hands or whatever.” “The other thing to think about is, if you look up underneath in the receiving end of the torso, there’s a lot of webbing that’s used to clutch on to the hips,” Michael added. “All that becomes visible to a certain extent when you make the torso transparent. And so the question is, is that going to be perceived as good quality or not?” -

I think the most notable one that was actually announced is Kang Dynasty - when it became clear it wasn't gonna work, they just went with what is pretty much a different movie entirely, regardless of the time and money they put into setting it up. A LOT of stuff that hasn't been technically officially announced has been cancelled, though. Bob Iger confirmed not long ago that they'd been quietly cancelling a fair few projects. Reportedly Eternals, Captain Marvel and Ant-Man sequels were all in development before being canned/indefinitely delayed. More into rumour (but from relatively reliable scoopers) territory, it seems like Mephisto, Sentry, Silver Surfer and Witches' Road special presentations were in development before being cancelled (although it seems Witches' Road was folded into Agatha) There was also a lot of talk about a Strange Academy project not long ago, and that seems to have totally evaporated. Not that most of these were in any sort of production, all very early development, but it seems like when it's clear to Marvel Studios that something's not working, they don't bother pursuing it. -

I heard this rumour, but I also saw someone who actually worked on the script say that they hadn't seen anything along those lines - I'm not really sure there's anything to back it up? If it was just a means to introduce Bloodline, I doubt they'd be putting so much effort into it (or that Mahershala Ali would stay on) - Marvel's been totally content to just scrap projects that they don't have confidence in for a while -

Right?! Granted I'm sure he's a little more complex in the comics, but I'm a massive fan of the Blade movies because they're just concerned with what is cool and nothing else hahaha Have Blade kill some vampires with a cool sword for an hour and a half. Your movie's done. Genuinely don't understand why it's taking so long. Kind of tragic there won't be sets though :( maybe for Midnight Sons, if/when they get to that. -

I do think it's worth noting that LEGO just seems to enjoy making figures for the animated stuff - they cut back to only one figure in series 2, but in series 1, What If got five(!!!) places in the CMF, and X-Men '97 got three in series 2. In both series, the show with the most representation is animated. -

For sure, I ended up buying a full set, but the X-Men were easily my favourites. And yeahhhh. What's even coming out on Disney+ soon? The Agatha show... but she already has a figure. Ironheart, I guess? That'd only really be Riri, though, unless they go more for villains and make Hood and Mephisto. And then there's Wonder Man, but who knows when that's coming, and again, it'd only really be Wonder Man himself, most likely. I can't see a 97 only CMF, but what I COULD see happening is a Marvel Animation specific CMF, given that X-Men '97 season 2, Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man and Eyes of Wakanda are all releasing within a pretty short timeframe by the looks of things My bets, if they did that, would be 1.Wolverine (brown suit) 2. Nightcrawler 3. Jubilee 4. Morph 5. Sunspot 6. Spider-Man (maybe the homemade looking suit?) 7. Nico Minoru (she's supposedly one of Peter's friends in the show) 8. Dr Strange (he appears in his classic outfit, that'd be awesome) 9. Daredevil (maybe? he's in the show, but it just looks kinda like the black Netflix suit - still, a way to tie into Born Again without ACTUALLY doing it) 10. Black Panther (whichever appears and is most interesting) 11. Iron Fist (supposedly in Eyes of Wakanda, an earlier version though) 12. uhhhhh.... more X-Men? Cable? -

But also to be fair, at least in my experience talking to people, besides Moon Knight, the X-Men figures were the most sought after in Series 2, and in a lot of cases I saw, the ONLY figures some people were after. I guess that can't really translate to sales figures, but surely LEGO keeps an eye on reactions? -

I could definitely see '97 getting about 5 places in a third CMF, given its success, like What If? received in CMF1. That'd be the dream, I think a lot of these characters kinda need that level of attention. The Exabricks info sounds like what we've been able to guess from the image so far, but Iceman and Bishop are super interesting picks! Gambit, Jean, Iceman, Bishop and Xavier is not bad at all for a selection of new figures -

Also, I think it's obvious but worth noting regardless, this is pretty obviously based on the '97 mansion specifically now. The preliminary was WAYYY off haha looks like Wolverine to me - very yellow and I can see the black 'wings' of the mask -
