  1. Criticisms of the character are that maybe it's not a great idea to bring back a character whose most recognisable arc is needing to learn that a dead Palestinian kid is actually a human being. Especially at this time. If she's close to the comics, bad move, if she's nothing like the comics, why use her at all? There's no version that isn't distasteful.
  2. A little worried about the Cap 4 set - including Sabra in general is a risky move, but especially considering recent events.
  3. 99% sure this was fake, I've asked around a couple leakers and nobody I spoke to seems convinced.
  4. It seems like no Marvel CMF3, for 2024 at least. There's a licenced CMF yet to be announced, but none of the rumours I've heard about it are Marvel.
  5. Ah, those are from one of the Marvel magazines - they have original designs all the time that are never seen in sets, just see it as art for that particular publication. I think (not 100% on this) the only time it's ever lead to something is the Justifier Cad Bane fig showing up before that set was released.
  6. Is there any indication that the wave will be comic based, or is that just speculation based on the lack of MCU projects? I'd be more inclined to believe it'd be somewhat based around the older Avengers movies so the Tower figs can be refused in some capacity.
  7. Well, there's X-Men '97, Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man, Eyes of Wakanda, Marvel Zombies, all of which are set to release - I've not heard of a cancelled Marvel Studios animation project?
  8. Just catching up on What If now, I'd be so down for this. The 80s Avengers lineup is very fun
  9. At 110, it's roughly in line with the black base 'final Battle' sets they made for NWH and Endgame - would be very cool to see for another movie. Age of Ultron? I know we're very likely to see some more sets based on that movie to justify some Avengers Tower figs
  10. As much as part of me doubts it, it WOULD be a way to drive sales of a $35 set that I doubt would otherwise be popular
  11. Sadly this buildable figure is more one of the constraction figures than the brick built models so there's really not a precedent for including figs (besides Sandman, but not sure he counts?)
  12. February: 40670, Iron Spider brickheadz 40671, potted Groot brickheadz April: 76284, buildable Green Goblin, $35 76292, Captain America 4, $50 (I guess this could be delayed now the film has been) 76296, Sam Wilson Cap buildable figure, $35 (same goes for this) 76298, buildable Spider-Man, $35
  13. While I do believe the role exclusivity rumour, it'd also be a little strange for Marvel to not have contingencies in their contracts in case of events like this. It could really go either way, but I think Marvel is in a position where they very well could write out Kang if they wanted to. As for LEGO, even if Kang is recast, I think they'd want to avoid making a figure as long as they possibly can, given their reaction to Ezra Miller. I thought at first that they couldn't possibly make Kang Dynasty sets (assuming that title persists, which it may not) without the main villain, but they've done it before for quite a few movies. They wouldn't even need to market the sets as specifically 'Kang Dynasty' - I'm pretty sure the first wave of Endgame sets simply said 'Avengers' on the box
  14. Rumour has it Jonathan Majors has exclusivity on the character in his contract (hence why every variant so far has been him) - this is still a rumour, of course, but has been repeated by scoopers with pretty solid track records. Kang Dynasty being rewritten and now referred to as 'Avengers 5' isn't particularly encouraging for the character either. I wouldn't particularly mind if Kang didn't show up again, honestly. I don't think he's a super interesting villain, and Loki Season 2 does a good enough job giving the closure that the TVA is now containing Kangs who are potential threats.
  15. Yeah, a stand would've gone a long way for me, actually. Sells the feel of a 'premium' model without adding much to production cost. I wonder if kids like the stands, too, so the ships can 'fly' while they're not holding them?
  16. As much as I don't like the price of the Blackbird, the more I think about the set, the more it becomes apparent that it's a VERY clever business strategy... just applied to the wrong model. It's got very few pieces, sure, but has virtually identical play value to other, better priced sets in that price range. The Quinjet, Bowie, that Black Panther ship, they're all about $80 and include one ship and four or five figs. The ships are all roughly the same size in terms of footprint, too, the Blackbird is just sleeker and thinner so uses less parts. If the X-Men was a theme kids were big into, this would fly off the shelves regardless of its price, I think. Parents who don't pay much attention to part counts probably wouldn't think twice seeing a similar size box and similar size build to the other sets in that range. The issue is doing this with a set that's honestly going to be mostly for adult fans. A revival of a 90s cartoon, exclusive to Disney+, featuring characters who haven't had a well received adaptation in years? Yeah. Kids don't know the X-Men, on the whole. If they could manage to build up a pretty sizable model with very few pieces for a more popular theme, though? That'd make them so much money! Just a thought haha
  17. These set ideas are really cool - I make custom sets, would you mind if I tried building them and rendering them up?
  18. We know that these were once the figures intended to release in the Mansion, but I very much doubt these are the figures that end up releasing. This selection feels to me like it's leaning into the films' lineup, and some things would probably be changed for it to be themed around '97. Wolverine and Xavier are obviously a must, I can imagine seeing Cyclops and Magneto repeated from the Blackbird, but I somwhat doubt repeats of Storm and Beast from the CMF, even with variation. I may be biased, but I've never liked Sabertooth that much. I hope we get Mr Sinister in place of him, or honestly any of these villains. Gambit and Bishop are pretty prominent in merch for '97 so it'd be a little strange to not see them, too. Jean is a little less prominent, but we're WAY overdue an accessible figure of her. My dream lineup, keeping to the same fig count and trying to keep it somewhat realistic is: Wolverine Xavier Cyclops (maybe with new printed legs?) Magneto (I'd prefer an updated classic suit, but wouldn't mind the Trial of Magneto costume with a better hairpiece and dual molded arms) Jean Gambit Bishop Mr Sinister Emma Frost
  19. mtdbricks says the car isn't a recolour of the Miles Vs Morbius set after all, that was just on prelims
  20. Magneto's in his Uncanny X-Men costume, which he'll also wear for part of X-Men '97. Rogue's very much the same as the fig leak, though.
  21. The Blackbird leaked! Overpriced, but man that thing looks awesome
  22. Yeahhh, I don't get it. You gotta make a new print anyway, why not go a little crazier with it? Red Goblin? Agent Venom? C'mon.
  23. Well, Magneto and the Venomized Green Goblin and Doc Ock leaked - nothing special about the Venomized figs but I'm so happy Magento has the ridiculous 97" suit
  24. I think the figures are what really drive the price up - three characters has huge value to a kid especially. The closest I remember a constraction figure coming to having that many figs is Giant-Man... with one microfig. Not so much a selling point for me as an adult collector who owns two of those three figures already, but that's the case for lot of sets. I also honestly think there's something to be said for providing an environment for the action to take place in - it kind of suggests a story. Even outside of the context of the film, this little bit of scaffolding could mean a construction site, maybe the yellow beam sticking out is part of a radio tower that Electro's zapping energy from - little kick-starts like that can really assist imaginative play. I'm not sure that just a big Sandman by himself would have that same value. I'm not sure I'd even want a whole Sandman figure - he basically never assumes a giant humanoid sand form in the film, it's more a shifting mass of sand that has some humanoid features in the face, or hands, or that kind of thing. Definitely would've liked some more base with some more scaffolding for the price, but it's not the end of the world .
