  1. I'm so unbelievably sick of the endless MCU slop sets - the MCU itself isn't even the problem necessarily, but there's only so many times they can make the Avengers Compound rubble, surely? Oscorp is the best sounding set of the wave, because as a comic adjacent set it might have licence to actually be creative. REALLY sucks that it looks like there just isn't a modular this year, though. Hoping 76317 is good too.
  2. My explanation is Lex got Superman with his Kryptonite blaster already so Superman needs the mech because he's depowered 😂
  3. I honestly think the polybag is brilliant for kids - a main hero and villain and an environment for them to fight in for $5?
  4. Built the majority of the January wave (mechs, Venom car, Spider-Verse) The mechs and car are generic and uninteresting as I expected, but I adore the new figures and had £70 in Insiders points so it's fine. Ultron is awesome, Julia is awesome, Anti-Venom is awesome - this wave is kinda huge for comic fans. I knew I really liked the Spider-Verse set, but I'm surprised with just how much I like it. It's a lot of stickers, but they give the bodega so much life and it looks incredible. The NYPD car is really good too (and I cut the stickers to actually make it say NYPD, I get that it says PDNY in the films but I have no attachment to those and it bothered me) I'm definitely gonna stock up on squad cars for my city and convert the bodega itself to a modular building. This has been discussed to death, but the connection points really did strike me as strange - especially the roof, plating it off would've probably taken the same number of parts as the way it's tiled modular-style. I get that the technic pin holes are in sets all the time and never go anywhere, but the roof thing really sticks with me, and I really hope they expand on this mini New York. Again, I'm not a fan of the movies, so I'm not really sure what would make sense to do next, but off the top of my head, Prowler's apartment was relatively prominent? Getting a good figure of him and another floor for this building would be awesome.
  5. Built the Superman mech! It's... a mech. I like the figures, so it's whatever. Just hope that supporting this set actually leads to real DC sets
  6. I mean, that's a fine claim, but unless you've surveyed like 10k+ people, the Fandango poll just is more accurate
  7. Honestly, I wouldn't be so sure. It's not a huge sample size or anything, but Fandango surveyed more than 9000 people on their most anticipated 2025 movies, and BNW was #1 - with F4 at #5 and Superman at #9 - the franchise power of 'Captain America' really is enough to carry it in the eyes of the general audience, it seems. Plus, having a Hulk probably helps.
  8. I feel you on both counts haha - I finally realised a few days ago that I'm just kinda collecting MCU minfigures because I used to like the movies and collect MCU minifigures, so I decided to sell them off - SUCH a good feeling, now I just have the comic stuff that I actually love populating my city :) And yeah, as cool as Shalla is, I think most people would like to see Norrin first. She's a character you should only really do the Surfer thing with WAYYYY down the line. I get the F4 are in an alt universe and that the MCU 616's Surfer is probably Norrin, but I'd rather spend one more film with the definitive version (especially after that awful version in the old F4 2) than have a one-and-done alternate. Not at all misogynist, don't worry 😂
  9. Not even that it was necessarily destroyed, but it definitely wasn't in production since 2019, they'd have to bring it back in *some* capacity that would be more expensive than just... not including it
  10. I think a strong point suggesting that this will be the case, besides the wealth of AoU figures in production, is them bringing back the Ultron neck piece - why would they do that JUST for a $15 mech?
  11. For what it's worth, and I know this is just another individual perspective, my young siblings absolutely love LEGO, it's basically all they ever want for birthdays and Christmas. If they have friends around, even with videogames as an option, LEGO is what they'll be playing with for the majority of the time.
  12. How much are you guys betting that despite LEGO Marvel being obsessed with mechs, there being a mech What If episode coming out, and the new Sony partnership for Spider-Verse, we get literally none of them represented in sets? SP//dr especially feels like such an obvious slam dunk, but I just know it's not gonna happen haha Generic Iron Man / Spider-Man mechs for life!!
  13. This is what I've been feeling about the Marvel calendars - the ones for the other themes are pretty cool because they're often including characters that are either cool to have multiples of, or ones who only appeared in one or a couple sets. The Marvel ones are just including the same characters who you will have TONS of if you buy basically any sets outside of the calendar itself. Same on the legacy sets - I think they're kinda perpetuating the issue that the theme has with minifigures, we're getting like three or four versions of each major character on the shelves at any point (AoU Cap, A1 Cap, TFA Cap, etc.) instead of having one main look at a time and using the rest of the graphic designers' talents on new characters.
  14. lego Minecraft goat says no Marvel advent calendar 2025
  15. I feel like if there was a Rivals collab set, or line of sets, we'd have probably known about it already. I also doubt that LEGO would prioritise another game tie in after the sales of Marvel's Avengers - obviously I don't have numbers on this, but it doesn't seem to me that people were particularly scrambling to get the game designs of the figures in those sets. If Rivals continues to be consistently anywhere near its launch popularity, I can maybe see LEGO going for a collab, but it's an unproven IP that there doesn't seem to be much point bothering with from a corporate perspective. Hell, the Insomniac games haven't even received tie-in sets despite their very proven popularity.
  16. I think that they could feasibly do apartments for Miles, Peter and Gwen kinda like how they do the Friends bedroom sets? Simple brick exteriors with fire escapes and you can stack them up as an apartment building, something like that.
  17. I do like the idea of smaller NYC locations in that sorta Creator building format - a lot of buildings that I see people want (Nelson and Murdock, Peter's apartment) I don't really think would work as a modular unless you crammed a BUNCH of them together, but this way they might really work
  18. "Whining about your precious superheroes not being good enough" Are you really surprised that you weren't met with positivity after popping in out of nowhere and basically just saying 'heh, LEGO Marvel sucks' ... in the Marvel forum?
  19. Looks like the Peely and Sparkplug set is actually a playset! (Peely's Camp and Sparkplug) That's pretty exciting, a $20 minfigure set is huge.
  20. Agree with this, there's definitely a drought of Marvel media actually targeted at kids once you escape the preschool sorta age. My own little siblings are about 8-10, and have zero interest in Marvel, as do most of their friends, there really isn't much for them to engage with. This is also super true, Disney does ultimately give a lot of input on what LEGO is actually making, and ultimately have the final say in approving products ... BUT ... Where did the playsets go? Yes, the ~2016 era Marvel stuff was based on animated series, Ultimate Spider-Man, Avengers Assemble, etc. but there really isn't much about them that requires that current adaptation source material. There were a bunch of location sets, with a bunch of characters, and it sure seemed to sell well. I have zero background in market research or working with kids in terms of facilitating play, so I'm not sure how true this actually is, but based on my limited experience, kids prefer environments for superhero characters to be played with in. My siblings are certainly more interested in stuff like the Bridge Battle that I have lying around than the Marvel sets on-shelves. If you're putting them in a mech or a car, it could be ANY mech or car - the superhero stops mattering. If we give Spider-Man a means to actually swing around and climb walls, there's a way more unique emotional response in that play pattern than there is if you just have them driving a glorified hotwheels around. To me, the lack of specific Marvel media that kids are attached to nowadays feels like all the more reason to use these LEGO products as a way to show off what makes these characters fun and unique - showcase their powers a bit through play features! Speaking of, where did play features go in general? We barely see any that aren't some kind of projectile shooter nowadays in this theme - even the exploding wall is a little rare now. Yes, preexisting attachment to the characters is a huge driving force for sales, but when the sets are getting progressively less unique and fun, they're self sabotaging a bit too imo. Original themes have succeeded by just being really cool toys - licenced ones should chase that too
  21. The only full set I want from this wave is the ATSV set for Spot and the builds, and even then I couldn't care less about the Gwen and Miles figs - they'll get sold off, probably. Anti-Venom, Spider-Woman and Ultron are all great to see, but the sets they're in are such nothing products. I'll probably buy the mechs because it'll be cheaper than Bricklinking the figures close to release. The Venom car, as fun as it is, just doesn't have a place in my collection, so I guess Julia can wait. The Civil War set is hilarious, and the Marvel logo just feels like it doesn't really have an audience. I'm a little worried that LEGO Marvel's waves are settling into 'generic mech, generic car, construction figure, legacy MCU film battle set'. It's not BAD, but we've had so much better in the past.
  22. I might just be weird, but as a kid I wanted a Zelda theme SO badly - given the sales of BotW, I'd think (hope) that it's fair to assume that plenty of kids would have interest
  23. Yeah, I can agree with a lot of that! I would say that I think the Twilight Princess and Breath of the Wild castles are probably close enough to make a 2 in 1 possible, if that's a big concern of LEGO and Nintendo, but I also don't think it's the end of the world. For another OoT/BotW 2 in 1 they probably also could've done the Temple of Time? It's SUPER similar across those games
  24. Recently built the Deku Tree, and absolutely loved it - I can't speak for the BotW build (that game doesn't really vibe with me) but the OoT model is so much fun with all its features, the door, the Skultula, the hidden elements in the sides of the tree - it's awesome It's also HUGE. Wayyyy bigger than I expected it to be. It made me rethink some of my complaints about the pricing. The OoT model does feel a little plain, but with the extra parts it was super easy to just make some sakura trees to fill out the forest a little. And the figures! The Links are perfect, totally CMF quality - the Master Sword is probably the coolest new piece they've introduced in a long time. I really hope it's sold well enough to justify the theme continuing, this set is an absolute dream, and having more stuff like Hyrule Castle (which I'm honestly surprised wasn't the first set?), the King of Red Lions, etc. would be awesome
