  1. atlas.bricks on Instagram has a great render of a custom Thing that's more along the lines of what I'd like to see, I think there's a perfect amount of bulk but he still feels like a minifigure, which imo bigfigs don't @RobbieHxC does make a good point about playability, I can see kids preferring bigfigs, but (and I'll preface that this is totally anecdotal) I had a bigfig Hulk as a kid and thought he was cool and all, but the TMNT more 'midfig'-esque villain figs were my absolute favorites and I got the most milage out of them in terms of play - I'm not sure there's THAT much of a difference strictly minifigure Ben isn't the best route imo, but something in-between is something I really wish LEGO would pursue
  2. Bigfigs as in the base shape that is used by Hulk, Maui, Thanos, etc. Hagrid's is his own specialised part that is smaller than those and it works great
  3. I'm with you, Ben really isn't that big. Might be a bit more of an unpopular opinion, but I never really like bigfigs in the first place for licenced characters, I don't think I've ever seen one used that actually matches up to the size of the character.
  4. Honestly, I love the build, feels like it could be a great base for a modular MOC - the interior's a little rough but the exterior is super nice Spot is a nice-to-have but I don't really care for the other figs The police car looks really solid too, though I wish the PDNY text was split across two bricks so you could swap it around and have an actual NYPD squad car haha
  5. It's a great model, but it's SO specific in a way that I don't personally think a lot of the other modulars have been - stuff like the Diner is clearly super American, but the actual building is such that I could see it being an American themed restaurant in basically any big city. This set feels like something that'd ONLY be found in the UK. It's cool! But it continues a theme (at least in my opinion) of modulars trending towards a focus on standalone displayability and not necessarily how they'll fit with one another. The Hotel had that sheer drop to one side that made it expose an ugly wall of almost anything else you put it next to, the Museum was huge and had a really striking colour palette compared to most of the others, and now this, with a very specific architectural style. Not that I mind it, they're still all fantastic sets, but I feel the urge to pick up less and less of them as a result.
  6. My main issues with the Spider-Verse concept itself are: - We'll undoubtedly get figures of the main cast, who are already well-represented in sets: Miles, Gwen, Peter - maybe Noir, Ham, etc. Potentially, like half the CMF is gonna be repeats, which to me is disappointing despite them being higher detail. - There's not much in the way of variety that can really be done besides Prowler, maybe Tombstone? Doc Ock, Scorpion, Kingpin all would need some crazy pieces or a relatively substantial build to work, and so it's likely the lineup will be basically just Spider-People And honestly, I think there's a lot more in the way of exciting characters possible with another D+ CMF than your comment about like, Nick Fury, implies. X-Men '97, Eyes of Wakanda, Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man, Ironheart, Agatha, Zombies, Daredevil, What If, all would've had a shot at representation in the CMF, with some really great characters within those shows.
  7. I think the biggest disappointment for me with the Spider-Verse CMF isnt even that it's specifically Spider-Verse, even if I don't care about those movies - it's more that it feels like it's basically a death sentence for any new D+ characters in LEGO Wonder Man, Ironheart, Eyes of Wakanda, Marvel Zombies, Your Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man, What If..? Season 3 all feel like we can pretty confidently say they won't get full set representation. Spider-Verse already will have had a normal retail set on shelves by the time the CMF comes out. And most likely, there'll be multiple repeats of characters from that set (and maybe other sets throughout the year, if there are any) - we've traded the ONLY chance for some characters to get a bunch of Spider-Man figs that probably would've found their way into sets anyway considering Sony is clearly working with LEGO now
  8. It's for sure exciting for fans of these films, I'm happy for you guys... but man, I'm kinda bummed that it's not gonna be a more general Marvel CMF - little concerned that this'll be just like... Spider-Man, Spider-Man, Spider-Woman, Spider-Man, etc etc. until all 12 slots are filled 😭
  9. I believe this is actually what it is. Iirc Reptil gave them the ability to turn into dinosaurs for this season
  10. This is pretty apt, it'd be SO weird if they were happening, and nobody knows about them, despite knowing about sets releasing about the same time in a fair bit of detail. Of course we won't know absolutely 100% for sure until we start seeing official reveals or even just image leaks for that sorta time, but I'd say we can be about 99% sure it's not happening lmao
  11. I agree with you on like 90% of this, but I think it's worth noting that a pilot was produced for 'Pryde of the X-Men' which has her in a large role (plus her name being in the title) that was originally intended to be a full show, that would've aired in the 90s. Even silly stuff, like her being name-dropped in a Weezer song in the same breath as Nightcrawler - she hasn't so much stuck around, but she was really popular in the 90s. Also, as one of the more well-known Jewish superheroes, she has a bit of a boost to her recognition. Not that I think she's a huge priority for LEGO - I'd imagine that they'd go for some villains and some X-Men like Nightcrawler and Colossus before they'd get to her, but imo she's right at the end of the A-list X-Men.
  12. I definitely agree that all these figures should be made, but I can't really think of much else that could be done in the way of models that'd be appealing to the average shopper - Sentinel, absolutely. Master Mold or the Wild Sentinel? I'd like them, but will most people care enough for the larger price tag? And beyond that... Stratojet? Another plane thing... and I'm lost on many other ideas.
  13. I've built the X-Mansion in the last few days, and despite all the flaws it has, I do wanna take a minute to just say how nice it is to have a pretty damn solid X-Men lineup nowadays Going from just Wolverine, Deadpool, Magneto, Storm and Cyclops for AGES to also having Bishop, Iceman, Firestar, Gambit, Beast, Jean and Rogue, some of them with multiple suits that are all pretty great - having a very competent Sentinel, the actual X-Mansion, and a WAY better Blackbird than the last one (speaking on just the model, not the price) - it's awesome! It feels like X-Men finally found its feet as a subtheme of Marvel, and even if there aren't many more products for it in the pipeline, there's arguably a better lineup of comic-y (and yeah, I know a lot of it is more TAS inspired) X-Men stuff than even the Avengers have. I'm excited for 2025 - even if there isn't really an indication that either will happen, a standalone Sentinel model and some representation in a CMF could really round out the roster. I'm kinda making peace with the idea that LEGO X-Men might more or less be done until the films start up again, because I don't see there being THAT much left to do, but if that's the case, we're not leaving it in a bad place at all
  14. I dug The Marvels, and seeing it actually made me kinda want the set - it just never went on a deep enough discount to actually feel reasonable. Conspiracy theory time, but I'm so sure they made a completely different set that met the budget for an 80(? can't remember) dollar set, but something changed on Marvel's end and it had to be changed. I literally can't see any other justification
  15. I would say that this is a very early leak of a set that I believe is meant to be out in April - I wouldn't be surprised if some things here are still unfinished/placeholders Not to say it's a good idea to get hopes up, but I'd reserve judgement for a bit
  16. Fateful Lego on Instagram posted it I believe
  17. Red Hulk looks pretty great, even as a bigfig hater I like this newer mold SIGNIFICANTLY more and it's great to see them really running with it - I think the only way they could elevate these even more is to try dual sided heads for characters with hairpieces - imagine a Red Hulk expression with flaming eyes! But that's not saying I think they SHOULD'VE done it here necessarily, this is still great Sam looks good! Dual molded legs help the figure a lot. The helmet doesn't scream 'Captain America' to me, but it's a very cool part, and that's more a suit design criticism than a LEGO one I do wish Torres got dual molded or printed legs, the plain reddish brown make his suit feel more boring than it actually is Shame there's only three figures in this set, and definitely no fourth character. There was so much potential too! The Leader, Diamondback or really number of the Serpent Society (apparently a fair few survived their roles being cut down) - can you imagine getting a Giancarlo Esposito likeness here haha The build is just confusing to me. As far as I can tell it's a more sci-fi-ified(?) version of the fighter jets from the dogfight in the trailers. And I get LEGO won't do military stuff, I really do, but surely there's something else in the whole film that would've worked as a set. Or just, y'know, make it a cool build, even if it's not gonna be accurate.
  18. For UK/EU people, the new Avengers magazine is out, it has Loki with his rubber cape from the Leviathan set, and a second foil pack that can be a bunch of different things that are leftover stock. I got MoM Strange, but I've seen people getting Jane Foster Thor too.
  19. Little off-topic, but does anyone remember an actual source for the idea that LEGO Superheroes is internally one theme with a shared budget? It's been repeated so much it feels like it kinda has to be true, but I've only been able to find circumstantial evidence, like designers referring to the theme as 'LEGO Superheroes' over 'LEGO Marvel' and 'LEGO DC' - could have missed something though! On the minifigure thing, I think a big issue LEGO has is overproducing variants of existing characters - there's always about 3 different figures of each major MCU Avenger in production at any given time, which realllly cuts down on the new characters they can produce - the implication in producing extra prints production and storage space, the actual printing barely costs them anything. If we didn't have Avengers 1 Thor, Ragnarok Thor, and whatever the Marvel Logo Thor is, we might have two new characters, or even just two new leg prints. Same goes for Cap, with his Avengers 1, TFA and AoU suits all being produced at once, Widow with A1 and AoU, Hawkeye with A1 and AoU... it goes on. I wish they'd pick a movie to be their focus for Avengers stuff and keep with it until they exhaust all the characters and ideas from that film. It's fine for people to have higher standards, and it absolutely does not mean that they don't have a place in this hobby. Criticism comes from a love of the product. If nobody cared, nobody would criticise, but because people love LEGO, they want LEGO products to be the best they can be. Acting like genuine criticisms are 'crying' comes across as at best narrow minded and at worst genuinely mean-spirited. LEGO is the single biggest toy company in the world right now. They're not some indie company who's trying their best with what little they have. If LEGO chooses to not go the extra mile with a product, it is almost always because they just don't really want to spend the money, not because it'd actually be a hit to them financially. Sometimes, it wouldn't even be extra money at all, it'd just be more carefully distributing the prints and molds they've already budgeted for. If you really don't like complaining this much, then surely you'd stop complaining about the complaints - that's just more complaining!
  20. These are great, they actually feel like fun toys, which imo Marvel sets haven't really been for a while. Taking inspiration from comics, making fun models, and including new or extra characters where they didn't necessarily have to? I'm thinking if we keep going down this road, LEGO Marvel is gonna have a bit of a resurgence.
  21. I think that we'll undoubtedly get Blade and Midnight Sons, but after Secret Wars - they seem to be prioritising getting that film done and then moving on to less connected projects. I don't think we'd have gotten a Blade fig for his movie anyways, given the rating, but I could see Midnight Sons being PG13 or something, so maybe then.
  22. Would you be able to direct me to the video? In my (very quick and lazy) search I couldn't find it
  23. I found the full quotes! Let me copy them here: Mark Tranter - “I bring him up every time I can but everyone just says, ‘shut up Mark.'” “I don’t know whose decision it is, we can obviously give input but there are reasons and factors that we don’t know.” Justin Ramsden - “There are so many mutants to choose from, we chose the ones that are the most iconic and work with Marvel to see who we want. Mark and I could have gone on and on and on – and that’s not to say those minifigures aren’t designed. It’s just that maybe they don’t come out yet, or maybe they’ll never see the light of day.” Mark Tranter - “We might have had some of them designed because we’re all fans, this is something we love to do. Maybe they just haven’t found a place in the portfolio yet.” To me this all sounds pretty hopeful, but it's also a little confusing - they talk about the set like it's just packed and they couldn't possibly include any more, plus this idea that there's extra figs already designed that couldn't make it in... but they didn't even get to design every figure included in the Mansion! Look at Charles hahaha I don't blame the designers individually, mind - I do believe every word they say about what they wanted, but it's really disappointing the way LEGO's cut corners on this set in particular. I'm not a big stickler for price per piece, there's better ways to estimate value... but... Natural History Museum - £259.99/$299.99/€299.99 / 4014 pieces X-Mansion - £289.99/$329.99/€329.99 / 3093 pieces ... really? Even looking at the figures, which I guess add value, we have 5 new face prints, 5 new torso prints, 4 new leg prints, 1 new decorated fabric part and 1 new (I assume they had to re-make Magneto's helmet after so long) decorated headgear The Sanctum, which is cheaper, had 4 new face prints, 8 new torso prints, 3 new leg prints and 2 new prints on headgear That's basically the same! The Mansion has 16 new minifigure elements, the Sanctum has 17 - for a fifty dollar difference that is not good. Even if it's negligible, the pretty significantly cheaper set shouldn't have more! I'm only complaining so much because I want LEGO X-Men to be the best it can possibly be, and this is not that by any stretch of the imagination.
