DC Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

Maybe it’ll be different because The Batman was actually successful, but I can name over a dozen characters that have been introduced in recent DC movies that we haven’t gotten minifigures for. -

The Gotham City skyline minifigure lineup has leaked and it’s not the same as the one from the survey. I think it’s safe to assume the X-Mansion lineup won’t be the same either. -

I wonder if the inclusion of a Batmobile and Batwing means we’ll be getting those two as sets of their own. 😝 The minifigure list is fine. I mean, those are arguably four of the most iconic characters from the show. But it’s disappointing compared to the list that leaked from the survey. Phantasm would have been cool to get a minifigure of. -

Are we sure Storm and Wolverine won’t be the same as in the CMF? It’s not like it’s unheard of for Lego to reuse figures from CMF’s in sets. -

Of course they have a bias. Marvel has been the dominant franchise for the past decade, and not just in terms of superheroes either. Naturally, it is going to get more sets than the franchise that has been struggling for the past decade. Our best chance at getting more sets in the future is if DC manages to become more popular in the future. So, basically, if James Gunn’s plan works, we’ll be seeing more DC sets (probably centered around his PG-13 properties, but DC sets nonetheless). -

Lego is banking on X-Men fans like me who will spend $15 for the minifigures, then $80 to get them with the jet, and then another $300 to get those same three figures again with the mansion. -

There’s definitely a vicious feedback loop here. X-men sets are poorly designed so they don’t sell. And since they don’t sell, Lego doesn’t put effort into the designs. -

It think it just comes down to Lego doesn’t have huge faith in the X-Men selling (maybe due to the last attempt, maybe because the X-Men aren’t as well known at this point, idk) so they’re packing The Blackbird with the four most iconic X-Men characters. And that just happens to be the strategy they tried last time, but they’re counting on the cartoons release to help drive sales. Anyways, I don’t think this bodes well for the Mansion. We’re probably not getting that $300+ display piece with 25 figures some of us were hoping for. Probably closer to a $200ish facade with 8-10 and Wolverine, Magneto, Cyclops, Beast, and Storm taking up most of the slots. Definitely expect them to skip at least a few of the main team (Jubilee and Gambit in particular). -

I thought it was confirmed at some point he would not be appearing, but I could be wrong on that. And even then, it’s not like actors and show runners haven’t lied before to prevent plot details from leaking. -

Prof X would look out of place in a X-Men ‘97 set in general since he doesn’t appear in the show. So if Lego is going to take liberties (and just looking at Wasp in Avengers Tower it’s safe to say they sometimes do) there’s no reason they can’t stick him in a black suit and just call it a day. As for those others, I didn’t list them by name because I don’t think we’ll be seeing them in this set. They all fall under the “Probably not” category. Yes. Jubilee is also the member on the team that gets the least exposure outside of this show. She only ever has nameless cameos in the movies. I don’t remember her in any of the other cartoons. And she barely appears in comics nowadays. That’s why I put her towards the bottom. -

That’s not quite true. Yes, he only wore the green suit in the 90’s show. In the comics, he’s worn black, white, gray, brown, and green suits. He doesn’t really have a definitive look outside of a suit coat and a wheelchair or hover chair (unless we count the Krakoa era). I’m keeping my expectations low here and assuming we’re not gonna have a complete X-Men ‘97 lineup between the X-Jet and the Mansion. I’m also gonna go out on a limb here and say they’re not gonna try to market the biggest X-Men set ever without the most iconic X-Men character. I think it’s safe to assume Wolverine is in the mansion unless we have solid evidence to the country. For the mansion, here’s how I’d rank the likelihood of each character appearing. Definites 1. Wolverine 2. Prof X 3. Magneto 4. Beast Probables 5. Cyclops 6. Jean Gray 7. Rogue 8. Storm Maybes 9. Gambit 10. Jubilee 11. Mister Sinister 12. Nightcrawler 13. Mystique And then everyone else just falls in the probably not category with more recognizable characters like Deadpool, Colossus, Kitty Pryde, Emma Frost obviously more likely than nobodies like Eye-Scream and X-Plode. -

I think Prof X will be included in the Mansion for two reasons. 1. It’s his house. Not including him would be like making The Batcave without Batman or Avenger’s Tower without Iron Man. 2. Lego can easily slap together a generic black suit and that 2012 Bruce Wayne head and call it Prof X. That increases the figure count with an exclusive figure and they don’t need to waste the budget on any new prints. -

That’s disappointing. I’m not surprised at Cyclops, Magneto, and Wolverine, but I was hoping for either Jean or Rogue to fill that final slot. Hopefully the build will be an improvement on the first iteration. And another variant of Cyclops sounds good, hope they do the design justice. I have a feeling we aren’t going to see the full ‘97 X-Men lineup for a couple of years. -

You know this theme is in dire straights when we’re just hoping to get A-list Batman villains like Riddler, Two-Face, Bane, Scarecrow, and Poison Ivy. -

The rumor was 22+, but included a bigfig Hulk and a microfigure Antman and didn’t include Thor. So with Thor and Feige, we’re at 22 minifigures, 1 bigfig, and 1 microfigure. -

Ironic that DaredevilFan can’t see 😝. I think it’ll be bigger. It’s 1.5x the price, so obviously it ought to be. But I think it’ll be more so wider than taller. I expect it’ll be built on 32x48 base, rather than the standard 32x32, and go up to the top of the Daily Bugle sign with an antenna that will make it taller than the Bugle with the antenna. The lack of a complete ‘92 X-Men roster in any of the merchandising we’ve seen so far makes me fairly confident we’re gonna be missing a few members when the Mansion and Blackbird release. -

Thankfully, there is a compromise between making sets for unknown properties that will end up sitting on a shelf and completely ignoring these unknown properties. Just throw the characters in a Batman set. -

I’m literally agreeing with you, lmao. Only way we’re getting a Quinjet pad that holds a Quinjet is if they include a smaller Quinjet in this set. -

I could see this happening. $525 is a lot to devote to just one building. That would make it 1.5x the size of the Daily Bugle and that’s massive. -

It’s possible the base is wider than the normal modular, kinda like the 10th anniversary market square modular.
