Marvel Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
psqidexslizer replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
We’ve gotten a buildable Wolverine, a buildable Wolverine hand, and three minifigures (that weren’t even explicitly labeled as X-Men ‘97). That’s not much of a pattern. Also, this is a potentially $300+ set. It’s likely going to be aimed at an older audience, ie, one that knows the X-Men for more than just a Disney+ cartoon and can be marketed as such. -

You’re right in that we’re probably not gonna see the movie versions of these character. The designs have never been popular or memorable. However, I was talking more about the figure lineup. I would except them to include some characters in the mansion that aren’t really featured in the show but are popular due to the comics, other cartoons, and the movies. Colossus and Deadpool being two such examples. They’re barely featured in ’97, but are pretty recognizable thanks to the Deadpool films. I believe someone said the designer who was likely in charge is an X-Men fan, so we could see some fan favorites like Kitty Pryde, Magik, Psylocke, etc. Essentially, I don’t think we can rule out characters just because they aren’t in ‘97. The roster could take inspiration from other media too. This, but with instead of movie designs, we get comic versions of characters well known from the movies, such as Colossus, Scarlet Witch, and Quicksilver. -

X-Men reign supreme. 😝 There’s not even any reason to assume the X-Mansion is just going to exclusively focus on X-Men ‘97. None of the other modular buildings have focused on just one film or series, but several. Also, on the subject of Deadpool 3 being PG-13 or R, I don’t think it makes much difference. The character still has a reputation for mature content and I wouldn’t be surprised if Lego is wary of making sets with him regardless. Admittedly, it does sound like Falcon has hinted that we’re getting Deadpool 3 sets, but I would still find that surprising even if the film was rated Y-7 -

There’s more images of the Tower on instagram. I don’t remember who said it doesn’t look good next to other modulars, but they were right. IMO, it would look a lot better if it were a corner building instead. But, as other suggested, building up the base with a regular building would also work. -

The only DC movie coming out next year is Joker 2 and I doubt we’d get a set for that even if Lego were still making sets for new DC movies. -

The hair is the only one that bothers me. They have quite a few options to pick from that would work that you don’t need to create a new mold or make an existing piece in a new color. But they went with both the wrong color and the wrong style. It’s an easy fix, but it also shouldn’t have been an issue in the first place. Non-printed legs. Non-dual-molded legs. Not a surprise. That’s pretty much par for the course. Hips are the wrong color, but that’s also not surprising since Lego is weird about giving characters yellow hips. As some people have pointed out, they will do it. But there are plenty of instances of them actively avoiding them too. -

Print looks really good and is accurate, at least from what we can see. Is the figure perfect? No. But you can easily get the parts to fix the few minor issues like hair color and bland legs. Don’t see any reason to complain about this one. I’m probably in the minority here, but I think a molded visor would look needlessly bulky. Printed was the way to go, IMO. -

Exactly. Add yellow hips, and Cyclops is looking better already. Still trying to decide on hairstyle though. I’m leaning towards the Agent Chase hair in either brown or dark orange. But I also think the BvS Superman hair in those colors (assuming it is in dark orange) would look good. Edit: just remembered the Harry Potter hair is in dark orange. That would look good too. -

I’m actually kinda glad he doesn’t have printed legs. Then I’d have to pick between printed legs or legs with boots. -

Perfect description. 😂 Thankfully, the bad choice of hair and plain blue legs are very easy things to fix. -

Yeah, as someone who isn’t a big fan of the MCU and would prefer comic based sets, if they make less sets for future movies that isn’t gonna translate to more comic based sets. Best case scenario, we get less sets overall with more focus on legacy and Spider-Man and his Amazing Vehicles. Also, depending on how the DCU does, we might just see a reversal of the situation for the past few years where they pump out twenty something DC sets and a 4-plus Spider-Man vs Green Goblin every couple of years. -

I’d surprised if it wasn’t reused for Jean, (at the very least) given that it actually somewhat resembles her look in X-Men ‘97. -

I can’t see all those films, as well as Batman 2 and Superman Legacy all releasing in the same year. That’s just too many superhero films in one year. We’re probably gonna see more delays. -

It all depends on when Lego was notified the films would be delayed. Set production usually takes 1-2 years. So, they could probably get sets out by late next year. Of course, that’s assuming they would even want to release more sets in place of the delayed ones. -

Another, probably cheaper, solution would be to put 8x32 sections on either side with idk, maybe a park to celebrate the fallen Avengers on one and a fountain on the other. -

They could always release some comic based X-Men sets to loosely tie into Deadpool 3. 😁 -

It usually isn’t, but they could either 1) stick it in the city anyways or 2) stick with the modular format but remove the sidewalk in the front. Just to give some idea of what that could look like, here’s my X-Mansion which is 64x32. -

Color scheme for one. The museum is green while the X-Mansion is dark orange (at least, in X-Men ‘97 it is). They could also make the mansion bigger. Instead of 48x32 and two stories, they could go with 64x32 and three stories. Would it be huge? Yes. Is that a problem? Not for me. 😁 Then there’s other small changes such as the porch design and the dome at the top. And, like you said, the interior would be very different. I imagine Cerebro will be included which could be a very interesting build, especially if they base it on the movies. The danger room also seems like an obvious candidate and that could also be a very fun build depending on what play features they decide to include. -

I guess they’re going all out on the X-Mansion. Makes sense. It IS, after all, the 15th anniversary of the BEST X-Men movie. 😁 -

Just looking at the promo art, his suit is the same color as Beast’s speedo. So dark blue would make sense. -
