  1. That’s not entirely true. They celebrated the 30th anniversary of Batman ‘89 by releasing that giant Batmobile. But that’s the only anniversary that comes to mind as far as Superheroes sets are concerned.
  2. He’s the same size as Thanos and Hulk.
  3. And then we can all be complaining about how we got movie Toad and Ultimate Toad and Wolverine and Friends Toad but still haven’t gotten classic comics Toad. Please, Lego Gods, make this happen. 🙏
  4. I’m the exact opposite. I’d rather get Kitty Pryde, Nightcrawler, Iceman, Psylocke, and Colossus before Gambit, Jubilee, Cable, Bishop, or anyone else on the X-Men ‘97 team that isn’t Jean Grey. I’m a big fan of the comics, specifically the Claremont run from the 70’s and 80’s, so I just see X-Men ‘97 as a way to get X-Men sets as opposed to being excited at X-Men cartoon sets specifically. Also probably why I’m really hoping the Mansion will take more inspiration from comics than the show and give us a wider variety of characters (specifically the ones I want).
  5. It’ll depend on a couple of things. 1) How well is the DCU received? If it’s a hit, then DC will probably get most of the budget for Super Hero sets going forward the way Marvel basically took over the theme these past several years. 2) Does Marvel find success with non-MCU content? If X-Men ‘97 is wildly successful we might see a shift towards X-Men merchandise, mostly based on the show, perhaps something thrown in there for comic fans. 3) How long will this MCU decline actually last? Is it going to let up once the next Avengers film comes out, or will it last until the inevitable reboot? Going forward, my best guess is we’ll see Lego start to prioritize DC a bit more given they’re rebooting and that will probably generate enough interest to sell sets again. I’m not expecting them to go all out, probably just a set for the big name heroes coming until Lego sees how the audience reacts. For Marvel, we’ll see cuts back on sets for new releases (probably only sets for well knowns like Thor, Captain America, and Avengers) but we’ll still see sets focusing on the Infinity Saga and comic Spider-Man sets.
  6. I wouldn’t read too much into it. Just seems like he’s teasing Lego set(s) based on BtAS.
  7. Well, for one thing, there’s really not much difference between the comic version and the movie version (unless you count the version from Origins). For another, an angry mob of parents mad at Lego for making a character popularized by a series of R-rated films full of profanity, sex, drugs, and violence isn’t going to stop and check whether the figure is based on said movies or the comics where he’s just as inappropriate for children.
  8. Oooh… Who thinks Lego Deadpool is a tasty treat? BrickBob Studpants He made a bet, now plastic he’ll eat. BrickBob Studpants Start with the head and work down to the feet. BrickBob Studpants All us on standby with the EMT BrickBob Studpants (ready) BrickBob Studpants BrickBob Studpants BriiickBob Stuuudpants!
  9. I could see a Magneto mech happening. After Wolverine, he seems to be the X-Men character Lego has the most faith in. I also like how the first thing that comes to mind for everyone when thinking about future X-Men sets is a Sentinel.
  10. Mister Sinister is gonna be pissed when he sees this. 😝
  11. Turns out the X-Jet isn’t actually $80. It’s $85. 😠
  12. Just a hunch, but if we do see more X-Men sets this summer, I think they’ll keep one of the 8 ‘97 X-Men exclusive to the Mansion just to incentivize people to buy that to complete the team. My guess is Jean Grey since she’s arguably the most desirable X-Men character that we haven’t gotten yet and they can release other variants of her in other sets down the line while keeping her arguably most iconic and desirable costume exclusive to the mansion. Gambit would also be a solid choice since he’s got a lot of fan appeal.
  13. We’ve seen Venomized Iron Man, Green Goblin, Doc Ock, a Tyrannosaurus Rex, probably some other characters I don’t remember. And still no Venomized Spider-Man, the one character who would actually make sense.
  14. I think it’ll depend on what features prominently in the show. As far as generic ideas for X-Men sets, Wolverine motorbike with Wolverine and a villain (Sabertooth would make the most sense) seems like a no brainer. They could also do some villain hideouts such as Sinister’s Lab and Asteroid M. We could also see some locations from the X-Mansion such as Cerebro and the Danger Room. Would they be included in the mansion? Probably. But this would give us a chance to get larger, more detailed versions of these rooms. Getting a bit more obscure, we could see a set based on the Marauder or The Quiet Council. And, we could always see sets based on the movies but with comic figures instead of movie figures. Statue of Liberty Torch battle, train station fight, Magneto prison escape, The Brotherhood vs the X-Men at the Golden Gate Bridge are all potential ideas if they went that route. And then there’s the old standby of generic vehicles recolored for a hero who would never use them like we’ve seen for Spider-Man multiple times. Wolverine’s Monster Truck, Wolverine’s Speedboat, Wolverine’s Snow Mobile (he is Canadian), Cyclops borrowing Wolverine’s Dune Buggy, and (my personal favorite) The Wolverine Chopper.
  15. Thinking about it a bit more, I’d actually be surprised if we didn’t see some more X-Men sets this summer. For starters, we’ll be seeing the release of X-Men ‘97, the first cartoon since 2019 from either Marvel or DC that seems to actually be aimed at Lego’s target group of 8-14. I could see them trying to capitalize on that, like they did with Ultimate Spider-Man and Avengers Assemble. Secondly, we’re getting Deadpool 3 next summer. The movie is probably going to be big but Lego won’t want to directly make sets on it. Kinda like the Suicide Squad situation back in 2016. Now, I’m not gonna post spoilers because 1) I don’t want to spoil the film and 2) I don’t know which ones are legit and which ones are trolling (Ryan Reynolds did imply he would be trolling people with fake spoilers). But there is a possibility other X-Men will appear and comic or cartoon based sets would be a safe way to capitalize on that. Third, we’ve got the X-Men Mansion coming. Now, we don’t know for sure this is going to be a large modular-type set, but it doesn’t seem likely we’d know about it so far in advance of it wasn’t. Now, it’d be weird for Lego to release a set of that size without a bunch of minifigures to go with. (Granted, they did with the Sanctum Sanctorum, but arguably they covered just about everyone who was significant to that location or who most people would recognize. The same can’t be said for the X-Mansion. Plus, if the size of the Natural History museum is anything to go on, an X-Mansion would be much bigger than a Sanctum Sanctorum). So, what are the options? There’s three that I can think of. 1. Give us a set with the bare minimum number of figures. 2. Release a bunch of new figures in one set and balloon the budget. 3. Release another wave of X-Men sets to spread out the new figure budget. Maybe it’s just wishful thinking, but 3 seems the most plausible to me.
  16. It will have Wolverine. source: name one X-Men set that doesn’t
  17. That would be cool, but at the same time, we rarely get mechs for characters which make some sense.
  18. Just wanted to add, we haven’t yet seen what the summer wave holds. It’s possible we get a couple more X-Men sets featuring some new characters. But I agree that the Magneto we got here is probably going to be the one in the Mansion. I doubt they’re going to waste a slot for a new minifigure giving us a new Magneto when they already have a Magneto they can throw in the Mansion.
  19. Blackbird looks great. Definitely an improvement over the original model. Magneto is alright. The figure definitely could have used two toned arms. And as cool as it is to get variants of him (even though that has never been my favorite costume, to put it lightly), I’d much rather get an updated version of his original costume. Also, is it just me, or does Cyclops have a different hairpiece than in the leak?
  20. I like it. Mostly. Torso and legs both look great. But I’m gonna need to see more images of the head before I make up my mind on that.
  21. Not gonna touch the Hoopty discussion. In terms of the X-Jet, we haven’t seen it yet. It could have a large number of large pieces and that is what is driving up the price. We also haven’t seen Magento yet so he could be very detailed in terms of printing and there is a possibility the legs on the Cyclops figure weren’t the ones he comes with. And leaks have gotten piece counts and prices wrong before, so there may be some hope. We may well be getting substandard figures in an overpriced set (as all signs seem to point to), but I’m gonna hold off judging until we get pictures.
  22. Warbird looks fairly accurate to the one from the movie. Also, glad we’re finally seeing pictures leak out. Hopefully the Blackbird leaks soon.
  23. Not to be that guy, but Silver Surfer is pretty lacking in detail, but we can probably rule him out until we get Fantastic Four sets. And, if we want to be technical, so are Ghost Rider, Captain America, Kate Bishop. Hawkeye, Nick Fury, and Captain America Sam Wilson, but they’re all based on physical minifigures.
  24. Exabricks on instagram has pictures of all the characters, if that’s what you’re looking for.
