Alarm bells. Sirens. Trumpets. Church bells.Warning signals. Even Vuvuzelas. Who knew so many sounds could go off in one skull at once? "Well... To be honest - Arthur, right? - I wasn't expecting you being so open about that... incident. So, from cellblock A to patrol route B in a matter of hours. How, exactly, did that work...?" I raise my eyebrow about the repository. "Odd. Doesn't it seem convenient that your belongings, out of it all, was practically given to you? I was thinking about just doing the basics for preparation - perhaps get an Amethyst in this blade to counter any Wolfgang. I have an opal in there also, so I'll basically mow down any werepeople we encounter."

Heroica RPG - Quest #48: Death's Homecoming
Endgame replied to Endgame's topic in The Heroica Archive
QM Note: The quest is indeed successful the second Perfect Regret is defeated. -
I'm only good at strategizing killing heroes. Also, waiting for that moment where Sorrow can yell "Guards, guards! We got an escapee!" He probably won't do that, but he is going to be a bit... iffy on Arthur until he atleast comes clean on parts of it.

I'm actually trying to set up CJP's descent into black knight - killing off his spiritual companion is a very good start, I just hope he stays dead this time. I believe Sandy said we're divided by levels, so guessing we'll be divided by: -Kiray -Grimwald -Arnulf -Nagure -Sorrow -Arthur -Boomingham -Thothwick -Nyx

Still at my seat from when I spoke with (undead?) Althior - half asleep - I shake myself awake and check the new notice pinned on the quest board. I scan the list and spot a few famliar names - mine among them! I ready myself when I see a member of the Twon watch, of all people, walk in... And he seems too familiar. Only a night earlier I had seen a prisoner in his semblance, and yet here he was now, waltzing about in a Town Guard uniform. Was I imagining this? I approach the man and offer my hand. "Hello there - what brings you to Heroica Hall today, sir? I was just at your headquarters last night, surprised I didn't see you there..." Or had I?
-
Maybe all of its kicking around just gives Perfect Regret a bit of indigestion, preventing him from attacking for a round.
-
Agreed. Also, that footnote about Carly Swift in the Hall... so glad I caught that!
-
Maybe the Angel could bust out of his stomach? Resistant thing, it has been swatted, electrocuted, impaled, curshed, tortured, incinerated, steamrolled, and devoured by Hatred incarnate.
-
If that didn't solidify Perfect regret's status as "Eldritch Abomination", I don't know what will.

Heroica RPG - Quest #48: Death's Homecoming
Endgame replied to Endgame's topic in The Heroica Archive
Perfect Regret's cacophonous voice seems to have a certain thoughtfulness embedded deep within it. It was far from warmth, but it seemed to lack some of the edge he always seemed to have. "An eternity is quite a long time, isn't it? Perhaps I will be able to remove the taint of your soul as well... But, alas, on this battlefield, we are enemies. Nothing more, nothing less. Engarde, Sylph Solanum!" Round Twenty Of The True Final Battle! >Punii makes jellies (back): No jellies made! >Aquos sings Lucky Chant (back) >Sylph Fragiles Cataclysm Claw (back): Success! >Sylph VS Cataclysm Claw (back): Hit Critical Hit (9x2=18+21=39x2=78-12=66 damage) >Johon VS Cataclysm Claw (front): Hit Critical Hit (8x3=24+22=46+4=50x2=100-12=88 damage) >Alex VS Cataclysm Claw (front): Damage Critical Hit (10x2=20+20=40x2=80 damage) >Galen VS Cataclysm Claw (back): Hit Shield: Mug (10x3=30+17=47x2=94-12=82 damage, 82 gold earned) >Elgar VS Cataclysm Claw (back): Aim Critical Hit (11x2=22+21=43x2=86-12=74 damage) >Romulus VS Cataclysm Claw (front): Damage Shield: Mug (17x3=51+15=66+4+70x2=140-12=128 damage, 128 gold earned) >Hal VS Cataclysm Claw (back): Special Damage Shield: Charge! (10+10+10+9+9+11+8+18=85x2=170-12=158 damage) Ennoc's angel hovers woefully above the party, on the verge of demise. Aquos expends the last of his ether to invigorate the party, Lady Luck smiling upon the party upon hearing her song. The party does spectacularly in the face of hatred itself, bombarding Perfect Regret's claw with all of their might. Sylph plunges an arrow into a narrow crevice in the Gauntlet's armor as Johon shoves his sword of decay through the claw's palm. Alex widens the gash, injecting Crumbling Venom into the limb. Galen and Elgar batter it further when Romulus rushes in, Combrys in hand. With one fell swoop he lands a devestating hit on the claw, Combrys humming with raw power. Hal's coordination allows the entire party to flank the claw, all of them smashing it the fragile appendage with all they got. The poison causes the last of the Cataclysm's resolve to wither away. The vneom causes it to convulse and spasm until it explodes right off of its socket in a burst of darkness. The Nemesis Scepter clatters to the rooftop, with no more appendages to actually hold it. Unfortunately, Perfect regret is an adept telepath, and could control the weapon remotely... Despite deflecting no attacks, Alex's Guardian Angel was weary beyond belief. It hovered mere inches off of the ground, bent over in pain. With no appendages left, Perfect regret has to resort to a more... barbaric method of dispatching the holy creature. His teeth spread outward, and his eyes close... suddenly, with a horrible screech, dozens of dead hands erupt from the abyss inside his shell! They tendril towards the angel in a blur, snatching up the divine being. It struggles, but it is for naught. The brigade of hands drag the horrified angel into Perfect Regret's mouth, the angel dissappearing in the fathomless darkness within... Perfect Regret laughs as he teeth clamp shut, sealing the Guardian's fate. His eyes open, and there is no trace of the angel... "Barbaric, but neccasary." Would Sealing extend to a special mirror?
-
Correct, I forgot they had that. They could quite easily ruin their party if they sing the wrong song at the wrong time. (Encouraged enemy rolls an AoE special and kills them all).
-
Did you miss the part where he massacred almost all of 53?
-
Argh, I forgot that the Minstrel even had a shield roll that allowed them to sing. (Probably because Aquos has yet to throw a single punch!) Disregard that. Also, I should've taken a picture when End of The World was rolled. Too bad it did squat.
-
That, I agree, wouldn't be fair. I'd counter on class by class basis, not just turn every shield around.
-
How would that be unfair? Barring the fact that soundwaves travel it really makes you think about whether or not/when/where the action is appropriate. Is hastening the entire party worth a few hits? Is encouraging the entire party worth buffing that pair of mooks? Etcetera. Whose Tail, Eidolon's or Perfect Regret's?
-
Serious QM Note here: If I had to counter some classes, I'd actually (most of the time) allow them to receive the full benefits of an action: but also put a consequence on the line as well. Example: Oh, Minstrel, you sung Quick March? Good for you... too bad some of the enemies on the other side of the field are affected by your songs as well. Enjoy the free hits! It really puts a non-numeric and/or risk vs reward spin on strategy.

Squaring every enemy's HP, right? Regret-sized sword. An Eidolon sized sword (or, worse, a Mythrogg sized sword) would either be too heavy to weild or powerful to the point of being gamebreaking.
-
Its going to be Progg-sized, too. I'll run a round in a little bit when the conversations in 48 slow down.

Though it isn't visible, Galen could almost vow Perfect regret's features twisted into that of a sadistic grin. "Peon. You act as if I can't look into your soul and see your fear, Rogue. Going to hunt me down to the ends of Olegaia, are you? I suppose you still must cling onto the dreams of me contacting your sister again... but alas, you spoiled your one and only opportunity. Your poor sister is weeping for you, Galen, on her knees begging me to give you a second chance... but I'll be having none of that." This is just Perfect Regret being an absolute bastard. He could very well be lying, Fugazi, so don't worry about keeping that bit canon. "Mankind took away my mortality, mutilated my soul, whisked away my children and drove away the one woman made for me... It is only natural that when you are out of the equation - all of you - it'll all come back. Simple arithmetic." "And all other accounts are completely and totally wrong, I take it?" -
The sword fragments are going to be fused together in the near future - being the heirloom weapon of the Proggs, it is going to be quite nice. The fragments themselves are useless.
-
And then Galen will outbid you 7 times over. Also, Danny, Perfect Regret did respond to you - it got paged.

QM Note: Ah, that is the reason you summoned a Thunder Elemental! Perfect Regret doesn't even identify the comment as an insult. He merely chuckles... "All accounts? You've slipped, Druid. Again."
