  1. "She was acting, eh, lustfull." "Functional is *wheeze* deabatable, Johon. What made you think about the Love Potion, anyway?"
  2. Mortimer finds the last discernable novel in the set, the second volume on the subject of time travel, this one shorter than the last. "Mortimer, you don't think Karie, uh, succeeded in *wheeze* her... objective, do you? That potion did seem *cough* potent..."
  3. The door was firmly locked from both ends, requiring an incredibly specific key. "I feel as if we have *wheeze* all of the parts of The Regret's arsenal now, but... But I still don't understand how he plans to jam them together." "I wonder if there was a time we could reach with those bulbs where this door wasn't built...?"
  4. Vindsval tries to leave, but finds someone else standing in the doorway. A ragged man missing his right arm, his left grasping on a cane. "I am Jonathan Gryphinn, and you are...?"
  5. "Thank you, sir. And, yes, we are looking for a missionary."
  6. Actually, Royce has the same face as Guts/Masson, so maybe Guts is Masson's uncle.
  7. "Uh, should we read the second book?"
  8. But Masson's father has been estabished to be Royce Cour, not Guts Holla.
  9. Well, they did, before The Regret messed with Masson's circulation and made him really pale. And Masson would never toss Karie off a boat. Although judging Karie's recent pregnancy, maybe "tossed around" woud be more accurate for Masson.
  10. Ah, okay. Maybe their hair looks the same under the wig.
  11. Masson isn't woefully incompetent, just unsure what the hell he's doing anymore.
  12. "Hmm, I do suppose. I suppose I eventually just... Stop caring about a lot of things. And, yes, the flaming gumballs are quite excellent around here. Why on the second visit, you ask? You'll see..." "Your loss, my friend!" The barkeep hands Salt-Upon-Wounds a bottle of wine in a green glass bottle. "A bottle of Amontillado, sir. Eheheh, it's quite popular here."
  13. Mortimer cracks open the first book... Which appeared to have been written ten years ago, judging by the date. "Hmm. I wonder if his research has *wheeze* progressed?"
  14. "Hmm. I see you're the type that dedicates yourself to your morals and your standards. i cannot say I'm such a man. Oh, spearmen? That would be a member of the Town Watch. They patrol the streets, among other things. As for why he was standoffish about this place, well...This is by no means your standard bar, but people only realize that on their second visit to this place." "One flaming gumball, coming up!" A few seconds pass, and Vindsval s passed his drink. "Ah, those are s staple of Eubric liquor. Me, though?" Isaac dispenses a few more drops of the vial of poison in his drink. "I crave a more... sharp taste, shall we say."
  15. "Oh, Jonathan. The man with one arm... Yes. I wouldn't call him a regular, but he pops in here enough. I've crossed his path on occasion. But please, pardon my manners, or lack thereof. Barkeep!" He barks. "Fetch this man some proper seating." "Eheheh. Right away, Mr. Faare." Before long, the barkeep brings out an empty wine keg for Vindsval to sit on, the same demented grin locked on his face. "Take a seat, fellow. And the other gentleman loitering in the doorway too - come, sit, have a drink while you wait. So... you said you two were "heroes", if I'm not mistaken?"
  16. "The more of this placewe unravel, the less of it I understand... Why is he having us try to turn on each other? Why aren't they just calling in a horde of Oculoids and killing us? Why to love potion? I don't get it, at all..." "Maybe we should *wheeze* give those books a read. Speaking of love potions, I hope those two find their... whatever they dropped... soon. We can't *cough* be running around The Regret's castle ill-equipped."
  17. QM Note: Ah, my bad, wording issue. It isn't boobytrapped in the strictest sense.
  18. The glowing device does not respond to the magniscope, but Johon does unearth two books in The Regret's handwiritng: "The Basic Principles of Time Travel" "The Basic Principles of The Lifespark" Boomingham's sword vanishes into thin air before stuttering back into existence... What was this thing? "...Lead the way." Masson begins to backtrack a room. "We'll be back shortly... As long as Karie is like this, I think she'd go mad if I wasn't in the same room as her." With that, he and Karie return to Seerus's studio. ------------------------------------------------- "So, what'd you drop...?"
  19. The odd bulb seems far more powerful and volatile than the rest of the Citadel's machinery so far... tampering with it without knowing its purpose may be a bad idea...
  20. The party continues through the door and ascends a spiral staircase, bringing them higher up in the tower. The door seemed firmly locked, flanked on either side by tall bookcases. An odd green device sits in the room, glimmering slightly...
  21. The mismatched pair navigate their way to Sungold Hill, the setting sun illuminating the city as they progress through Eubric's winding alleys. They weave through eerily identical roads before they find themselves standing in front of a weathered old tavern, the image of a darkened angel glaring down at them above the rotting doorframe. Thinking they had finally found their objective, the party heads in, and find the tavern empty... Besides one bartender. The bartender gives the two heroes a slightly unnercing smile, the grin reaching far fgurther up his face then it really should've. "Well, hello, hello there, guests! You're arriivng just before one of our regulars." Sure enough, standing behind them is a man in white grabs. "Hmm. Rarely do we others here." His face obsured by a green veil of light, the man brushes through the heroes nonchalantly before sitting down. Oddly, the bartender already has his drink ready for him. he accepts it gaciously. "Your drink, sir." "And my cigars? As well as the second bottle I require?" "Right here, Isaac." The bartender passes the white-garbed man a bundle of fungal cigars... And a bottle of poison. Delibrately the man drips a few drops of the horrid liquid into his glass of wine, taking a sip before he light his cigar. The smell of his cigar quickly fills the entire tavern What will the heroes do?
  22. Johon flips over the document. There was one doorway through which the party could proceed... Was there anything else they'd like to check?
  23. "Before you go, it seems like your ogre friend seems a bit, uh, feverish." Indeed, the hero was slumped against the brick wall, his forehead hot to the touch. Vindsval deciseds it best to escort the ailing hero back, another hero joining him on his quest to the Inn... Salt-Upon-Wounds (Goliath) 33 year old Male Hobgoblin Barbarian Level: 1 Power: 4 Health: 8/8 Gold: 10 Equipment: Sturdy Spear (WP: 3) Inventory: Mead, Potion The duo proceeds to Sungold Hill, night descending upon the city... QM Note: When Goliath posts, we can get this show on the road!
  24. "We... Could? You can go ahead and do it if you'd like..." Johon opens up the Mastermind's journal, reading his surprisingly pristine handwriting.
  25. Many thanks for the inspiration, B&P.
