"He succeeded." says Masson bluntly.
-
Three doors open, three parties emerge from separate paths, and three ghostly Proggs stand before them. They speak in succession. "The tours are complete, heroes, as are the tests." "We could tell you who passed or failed, but... I think you can figure it out on your own." "Farewell, heroes." With that, the three ghostly Gladius members vanish in a puff of smoke, leaving the heroes to examine themselves and their teammates. Boomingham stood tall and proud as usual, but his hand was close to his sword and his face stern. Mortimer looked tired and bitter, a crimson welt growing off from his neck. Her head hung low, Alice looked pathetic, her orange her matted and her face stained with tears. Erdathcath also stood tall, a fierce look on her face. She looked as if she had seen an old friend... or perhaps an old foe. Despite his featureless face, Jeaux looked like he had recently calculated something of large magnitude... Punii was covered in rock dust, trembling and gasping for air. A dreamy smile on her face and an intense lust in her eyes, Karie stays incredibly close to Masson, pressing her body against his. Johon looks rather exasperated and conflicted. A bitter look in his eyes, Masson stares down Johon while also taking the occasional uncomfortable glance towards his wife. "So... how *wheeze* did everyone's *cough* different "tours" go...? What happened *wheeze* for you guys...?" "Ours was... Less than ideal." "Ours would've been fine, if not for a... Breach of trust..."

Heroica RPG - Quest#111: No Fear of the Setting Sun
Endgame replied to Khorne's topic in The Heroica Archive
"I carry a bone from the wyverns!" I hold the gnarled bone up, hoping it would be enough. -
I hope you're enjoying these sidequests, 105ers, even though 2 of them are done.

"Alright, got it." Lynne pockets the loot and steps back onto the caravan. "Ready to continue, Dzahr?" -

Leofwin should be healed. "Alright then... Time to end this." Lynne strikes the Wyvern Youngling from the back row, changing her target to the Mother of Dragons (also from the back) should the Youngling fall by the time the battle order reaches her. -
Sorry 105ers, I'm currently juggling about 7 different sets: expect updates by this afternoon!

"Hold on, let me use a... guarunteed method, if you really are dying." Lynne uses a potion on Leofwin. -
"Until our paths cross again!" Alatreon torpodeos down the path behind the heroes, his wings carrtying him faster than the wind. The party goes the opposite way, leading into another winding corridor with the owner of the estate. Masson groans. "What rant are you going on this time?" "Hmph. Arrogant bastard. Good night, heroes." With a slam of his cane, The Regret plunges the room into darkness. Before the party can acclimate, they find an unbearable drowsiness overcoming them, each hero collapsing to thei knees in the ethereal darkness. The last words they hear before they succumb fully are... "Bellum, Cardic, Vanguard. Haul them away, and follow your instructions..." The heroes feel ghostlyclaws wrap around their shoulders and ankles, being dragged somehwere else within the vast citadel... QM Note: Please don't post within this thread until given the okay - expect PMs shortly!

Lynne attacked from the back row, and should've taken 3 damage instead of 5. Lynne repeats her assault, hoping that one of the wyverns would fall soon. "We can do this, guys!" -
Quest 115 delayed until October 15th, or until more heroes sign up. Recent complications have rendred the number of heroes chosen to go to one.
-
Worst part is, I nearly "picked" Kiray too, and she's on the same quest.

A peculiar looking man hobbles into Heroica Hall. His hair was unkept and his face covered in sweat, peasants clothes sloppily covering lab gear. Perhaps oddest of all was that he had only one arm, his left. The other was simply... missing. He takes jaunty strides towards the Quest Board, looking at the list of names. "...Hmmm." Chosen Heroes for Quest #115: Warlen Melimane (The Chosen Minifigure) Zunde Xravia (Da Smash Bro) Beneath the notice is a note, scrawled in horribly messy handwriting. The letters are jagged and shaky, some words randomly trailing off into lengthy lines of ink. With that, the one armed man leaves as quickly as he enters... QM Note: The quest thread will go up in 24 hours!

"If you sent Seerus into retreat, my only fear is another Collosus. I will be fine. It is you who has to deal with the mastermind. If you start to hear word of hunters flooding in here... That means I succeeded. We will meet again when The Regret falls, heroes. I swear it."
-
The party makes their choices on whether or not to sleep, only Masson and Erdathcath apparently retiring to bed. ------ Two hours pass, only a handful of Oculoids disturbing the heroes. Alatreon swiftly puts them down, crushing them under his massive feet in one fatal step. Other than that, the two hours is a much needed repreieve, the party having time to stop and reflect as they try to evade the biting cold. The Regret was only getting closer and closer, and before long the final battl would be upon them. What would the heroes do then? The thoughts on how to kill an immortal, and keep themselves safe in the process, haunts them as they snag a few minutes of much needed relaxation. When the two hours pass, Alatreon beats his wings together, the combination of the gust and the noise awaking the two slumbering heroes. Masson gets up, startled. "I'm awake! I'm awake... You... You guys eventually slept too, right? Youd din't spend the past 2 hours just staring at me while I slept, I hope...?" "Hmph. You are an odd specimen, Paragon." "After having that thing strapped to his back, I'm surprised he can *wheeze* still string a sentence together." "Yeah, tha thing was gross..." "We can ruminate on how disgusting that parasite looked after The regret falls. it is currently barbequed. We have other things to worry about. Now, if you have nothing else to do or say to me, then I will be off, and I advise you to do the same. You have a villain to defeat."

Quest 48 was six months and took place over the span of one night - about 14 hours.

Seeing that the child had been cared for, Lynne repeats. -
"I... Okay. I may be a father..." Masson mumbles that last sentence before slipping into the bedroll, the warmth causing his circulation to return. His old skin tone returns in blotvhes visible on his neck and shoulders. He sleeps fitfully, his breathing occasionally ceasing altogether, only to return later. "What an odd man." "I may get to fly with a dragon?" "No, impossible. Unless she is a fully trained Dragoon, she would be flung off in an instant. I will not be responsible for her passage home mor her death." There was a solitary metal gate on the other side of the room the party could progress through.
-
"I was hoping to talk about the child, but... I'll just set it up near you, I suppose..." "Only after The Regret falls. I have lended you my assistance, and now it is time I gave th other treasure hunters here aid. I will fly through the path you took in reverse - roughly, anyway - and try to let in as many humans as possible in this Citadel. Raise a little hell is what I plan to do to these bastards. Then I will return to my wife and children."
-
"I am no longer a great dragon. But I will most definitely be one once again in a matter of time, a short while. That... I assure you." Alatreon speaks in a determined fashion, dragging his mighty claws through the gravelly floor. Flame dances from his talons. "Ah, I see the flints in my claws remain sharp. Good. I wish i had known that while we were fighting off that abomination of an Oculoid, Hmph." Masson whispers to Karie. "Karie, I don't have a bedroll... Mind if we share...?"

Round Five of the Battle With The Shadow Collosus!' >Masson VS Prismatic Impaler (back): Shield: Veni Vidi Vici! (15+50=55x5=275/2=138 damage, lifts a barrier for next round.) >Alice heals Jeaux (back): Shield: Magic Vortex! (20+12=32 HP healed to all allies, 20+12=32 damage done to every enemy except Prismatic Tentacle. Hex and Collosus take 64 damage each.) >Karie remedies Mortimer (back) >Mortimer VS oculoid Collosus (back): Shield: Aura! >Boomingham VS Oculoid Collosus (front): Critical Hit (9x2=18+32=50x4=200 damage) >Johon VS Oculoid Collosus (front): Special Damage Shield: Ravage (142 gold earned, 13+30=43 damage to all enemies, 43x5=215 damage) >Johon VS Oculoid Collosus (front): Special Damage Shield: Ravage (142 gold earned, 13+30=43 damage to all enemies, 43x5=215 damage) The party enters one last salvo against the massive Oculoid. In a flurry of impressive blows, even Alatreon amazed by the might of the precision of the heroes' attacks, the Collosus flings his head back and howls in agony. His calmly wrathful demeanor melts away, showing the madness the heroes remembered from their previous encounter. "YOU! Of course it would be you, you snivelling raider! Of course you would be the one to-!!" "If you wish to have another executioner..." "Eh?" "You tortured me, harmed my comrades, dared to lay a finger on my wife. No more. No more!" Masson's instinct was shining through his shaken demeanor, the Paragon proving that he was still a threat, no matter what state he was in. Unsheathing his sword as rushed the Collosus, he skewers its eye vertically, thrusting up and impaling it vertically instead of thrusting his sword through the Oculoid's pupil. "Huuurrrrrrggg... Hunnnnggggghhhh... No..." Both combatants thoroughly exhausted, Masson twists his sowrd arm's shoulder around with great effort, managing to heave the Collosus to the floor with a resounding thud. The Chief is silenced as he collides with the cold floor, the impact enough to kill his already fractured body. Inky plasm oozes out of its every wound as its head dissolved, its horrid tentacles wilting into nothingness. Masson rejoins the party, cradling his strained shoulder with one arm. "I... Probably... Shouldn't of done that. Shoulder hurts like hell. But... I think we got him." Alatreon sets to work scorching away the remains of the Oculoid with his firebreath, speaking in between bellows of flame. "Well fought, heroes. You toppled the beast." "And I'm willing to bet *wheeze* that The Regret won't bother with resurrecting him again. He's not one for *cough* second chances - I thiink he was here for mind games, no neccasarily to win..." "I... That was my first real fight. Iris was a joke, but him? He put up a fight. I almost feel like my sister in a way, now, diving into danger... But I don't feel any bloodlust. None. I wonder if we would've avoided all that pain of she was here with us..." Hidden Boss Battle complete! All heroes gain the appropriate amount of EXP. Party Leader, please distribute the loot: 900 gold Diamond Sapphire Smoke Bomb x3 Phoenix Essence x2 Remedy x5 Grand Tonic x3 Silver Sword: An impressive greatsword forged by only the finest techniques. WP: 18, Longsword. "I feel the need to contribute something as well. In thanks for freeing me from those damned bonds, I think I'll present to you the last of my treasured gold horde I was able to hide and smuggle all these years. You would do well to hold onto it." Golden Helm: A glistening golden helmet, one of Alatreon's few possesions. It carries his aura of authority. Headwear, SP: 3, Max HP +3. "if I had to make a suggestion, perhaps the automaton would be best suited for the helm. He is a mighty machine indeed, but perhaps less guarded than the rest of you. Now, humans. Heroica RPG - Quest#111: No Fear of the Setting Sun
Endgame replied to Khorne's topic in The Heroica Archive
"Leofwin, remedy the child, please!" -
Should've changed "boot" to "explosive runes" for thematic accuracy.
-
Alice looks on, unnerved. "My god..." "Release his mind, Oculoid, or I will devour you whole!" "No can do... I enjoy my puppet, for starters. And are you meaning to say you wouldn't "devour me whole" otherwise? Nonsense>" "Mortimer... Snap out of it!" Punii seems most affected out of all, the young Progg considering the Warden a trusted friend. "*wheeze*...M-m-mortimer...?"
-
Huh, I must've misread... Sorry, Joeshmoe.
