Barad Dur is almost more like a buildable character than it is a location (based on the movies depiction of the eye). And let’s be honest it was a great Batman character too. i don’t disagree with your point though. Minis Tirith is shown in all three movies as the primary defense against the dark, it features heavily in the plot, visually, and is the scene of a lot of activity. While Rivendell is awesome, I would argue in the movies Minis Tirith has a much more prominent role, and is more recognizable. It is also by far the most important location in return of the king. I get why they started with Rivendell, Barad Dur, and the shire. But Minis Tirith needs to be made next, and soon. It is a top five location in the movies and the only one to not have any representation in Lego.

U Wing looks awesome, hope they have stock for May 4TH. (I am planning on getting two, one for kids one for me that day) Chopper looks fine, I don't get the buildable characters though Star Wars logo is surprisingly good, won't buy it, maybe if it was 30 dollars I would to have a sign for my displayed sets, but without any minifigures there is no reason for me to buy it without significant discounts. Was there a rumor for the Death Star GWP? I haven't seen one yet. I already am planning on the set, but that would be a cool gwp (and it should be a good one considering the price). We are really over due for a Tie Advanced too (unless they have one in the set) - but I would prefer a $30 dollar version of that in 2027 for the 50th anniversary. -
Same, ordered it shortly after, still hasn’t shipped, can’t build this weekend now.

How long does it normally take Lego to ship new sets? I know they are slow about shipping, but a few days should be plenty of time to pack an order and ship it.

I am excited to see/hear about any set discounts for May the 4Th, I am not interested in a lot this year (although the slave 1 does look really good) but there are a few things from last year I am hoping have some sort of discount. -

Is the Christmas tie fighter a real rumor? I had thought it was an April fools joke but have seen some of the updates talking about it as a rumor. If it’s a real rumor cool. also does that count to getting an OT set and maybe figures? -
If Lego doesn’t do a Gondor set again, I don’t even know how I will respond. What a let down that would be and Lego would have fumbled it twice. At a minimum we need a Gondor soldier, faramir, eowyn, the witch king, and denethor. at least getting the minifigures would allow us to do good mocs with actual minifigures. Bonus points for hobbits in the battle gear, white tree guard, Gandalf the white, king Aragorn, queen Arwen, and a new troll big fig.

Harry Potter has a few good ones (helga hufflepuff, filch -other prints than Sméagol, I also liked newts, and pirates of the Caribbean had some good ones like Elizabeth turner and Angelica). I also like the brown overalls and green dress from PAB - which has the dual molded legs and white skirt piece and all the hair pieces fairly cheap.

Woke up early and got it, looks like it went live at 2am eastern. Thankfully I was able to get it and the gwps Now let’s see how long shipping takes.

Frustrating to stay up late for the website to not function for launch.

Issues for me too

Same for me, first time I won’t be in person. Little bummed because my store printed tickets to stand in line for the last two and was hoping to get a third.

I would prefer getting a d2c of the ford of bruinen and get some Nazgûl with horses, maybe a diorama of that scene. Would be cool and could be in the $100-$200 range for a d2c. Maybe have five horses, Arwen, Frodo, and four Nazgûl with the water horses being brick built. If they were really clever there could be a way to get the water horses to gallop and move.

Awesome and cool to learn that it was based on shaw

Dioramas were my favorite to collect, but I do like getting capital ships I would not have gotten otherwise through midi scale (Home One, Executor, nebulon B, hopefully a rebel transport). I would prefer we get one or two from each of the lines each year, like one diorama, one midi, one helmet, one buildable figure, maybe one other random or new type so the rest of the theme can be focused on play sets. Getting four buildable figures, three midi scales, and then two helmets is excessive. It would also help for collectors to know they are getting one each year and not have three one year and none the next. -
What time does Lego.com update to purchase? Just wondering if it is like midnight based on timezone or region. Any idea for US buyers on the east coast? I have typically waited in line at the store to buy but can’t this time around, figured I could stay up to place the order.

I would love for bookends, but I have been picturing the book nook with two to three sides (bottom, back, top) with like pillars in the front. I never really pictured it with sides. I don't know why but that is how I have thought of it. Five sides would invest a lot into the structure for sure. I am hoping it has a brick built or molded Balrog (I do not expect molded, it is just what I would prefer). Looking at the jurassic world theme there are two sets (the mosasaurus, and the allosaurus sets) that could scale to the price range/piece count that the book nook has. I think the brick built mosasaurus is probably a better comparison but I think the piece count/size/cost could scale for what the book nook is referenced at. But a heavy investment in five sides could make the scene disappointing. Hoping we see it sooner than later to get a better understanding of how it will be executed. Lastly most of the LOTR Lego fans have wanted a minifigure based Balrog for over a decade. Hoping Lego gets it right the first time they make one to pair with what is the best Gandalf figure we have had.

Wondering if there is some effort with all the clones this year to maximize the Death Star budget. Between all the clones and Jango's, there is some good potential cost savings for Lego. (basing this off of around 1/3 of the mini figures all having the same faceprint). There are also quite a few repeats (K-2S0, Grogu, etc). just wondering if Lego Star Wars gets a certain amount of prints allotted each year so that using clones, or repeats gives them more to put into the Death Star minifigures. Lego knows if they are going to have the first $1k set they need to make the minifigures excellent. I am not sure how that works at lego but I thought I heard before that they get a limited number of prints alongside new molds etc, so repeat prints could be allowing for more options on the Death Star (which I am good with a year of clones if that is what is happening). an argument is that doing things like Luke, Leia, Vader, storm troopers, etc. would be able to be repeats for the Death Star anyway. Also I am waiting to buy my 2024 sets on May the First, I only want the U-wing this year but am assuming it will be sold out by the actual May 4th when I go tot he store. -
What are we thinking for the book nook? 1) Balrog is a big fig/dino styled molded figure 2) Balrog is brick built as a figure 3) Balrog is brick built but a relief image on a back wall 4) balrog is a sticker 5) Other, please describe

I am excited for all the Mocs and modifications of this set. I do like the set but unlike Rivendell and barad Dur there are a lot of things that I want to change or add to this set (although I did some modifications to barad dur too). Fleshing out the party scene, fixing the trees, connecting things more, maybe even adding another hobbit hole. It should be fun to add all the projects.

Wasn’t Tarkins last system set the first star destroyer 20 years ago? I think he has only been in the Death Star since (excluding the tan rebel outfit). I agree tarkin should be in a system set, but part of the problem is he really hasn’t been for a very long time (and throwing him in a tie fighter set would have been an easy win) -
Which torsos are you planning on using?

I don’t disagree that the other locations are bigger, but only Orthanc had any real action in the fellowship, and they already did that one. Moria is the only other big ticket site, and with the book nook we will have (on shelves) the shire, barad dur, Rivendell, Moria all represented. I would also be good with smaller sets that you listed instead, but I still think Littleton would be cool in the $350-$400 range. Plus a giant tree with elven structures, Galadriel, swan boats, that could be an awesome set that more than just LOTR fans are interested in. for the record I want Gondor, but a 25th anniversary set would be nice.
-
Hey fun thought, next year is the 25th anniversary of the fellowship of the ring. Wonder if we get a printed brick like Star Wars gets for its anniversaries if they do another set? Also I would be good with Lothlorien for the anniversary set (I know I want Gondor the most too, but Lothlorien is at least in the fellowship).
